BTW, I buy only original, no HK copies or burn CD! I just happen to walk past it and saw it hanging prominantly on the shelf!

Was it in an official box with the SNK logo, instructions, etc? What language is the manual, box and on-screen text? How big was the installation? Does it play in full screen (what resolution) without graphical/sound glitches? Were there more than one at the store? The game has its own executable and it's not run through an emulator? What does the CD itself look like (professional or homemade)? DOES IT HAVE A NGF STICKER ON IT?????

What's the delio?

I'd guess it was the Rom files, put together with an Emulator and then compressed into one program. A similar thing was done with KOF 2000.

That would be the ROM file, hidden behind some sort of installation system, and as for this:

"MS3 is emulated and dumped for MAME .57 . . . no big deal, the emulated PC incarnation isn't close to the cart original!! "

How can it not be even close to the cart original if it is 100% the same?!? Maybe the PC version doesnt slow down...

The ROM file may be the same but the emulator is NOT a Neo. Most performance issues are a result of poor emulation, not the ROM itself.

I have never seen a ROM played in a dedicated cabinet so it may seem like the real deal (I don't know), but playing MS3 on your computer can't even hold a candle to the original. The only thing it allows for is cool rips and whatnot...

I said that I wouldnt get involved, I lied. If its anything to do with Mame ( I think not) why the fuck would you compile especially for one game a day or so after the new beata release ? thats bullshit. Wasnt MS ported to PSX , thats more likely, a PSX bootleg.. what you think. BTW you need about 200 Meg ram to play the emulated version, its not for novices. You couldnt sell it !

Seriously mate, these things exist. I've seen them, a KOF 2000 one for example. Its not a MAME official release, its being used and charged for, without the permission of the MAME Dev Team. And of course, its NOT an official SNK release, either (Obviously) Oh, and MS3 never came out for PSX.

Dude, if you run MS3 through an emulator on a PC that has TV out, then I hate to break it to you, but it looks EXACTLY like the original. I know, I have a MAME PC hooked up to my TV along with my superGun and MS3, I checked the differences, there's NONE. It's scarry how good they've gotten it down.
You may not like ROM's and EMU's but they've gotten to the point where you can not tell the difference between the two if run to a TV.

Peace

Naw, I like em. I play em online. But lets have a look see.

Equipment needed to run ROMS on par with the originals:

Nice PC.
Emulator.
Working ROMS.
TV out.
25" TV
Two modified joysticks.
A cab to throw all this stiff in (optional)

Equipment needed to run the original:

System.
Game.

If you're going to get that hardcore into MAME you might as well spring for the system

For most people, emulation means looking at a tiny window on your monitor with bad ROMS while smashing keys on your pain-in-the-ass keyboard. Only freaks start getting into TVs and cabs and joysticks and stuff

Within a few years I'm sure emulation will get out of hand (as if it wasn't already). We are going to be seeing pixel perfect ports with mucho options, online play, online scorekeeps and hangouts, MAME clans, massively multiplayer kof2000 and God knows what else weeks before the actual game even hits the shelves. Soon the freaks will be the ones who actually shell out for the system and/or game

Nostromo, it isn't close because 99% of people who play the game emulated, do so on a PC with (on average) a 17" monitor and crappy PC gamepad. That compared to playing on my 27" TV (or other larger ones) with an original Neo stick. THAT is where it isn't close . . . I admit that if you run it in a dedicated MAME or EMU cabinet, its great, but how many people really do that? Very few indeed . . . the bulk of emu leeches play on their PCs with gamepads, and I'm sorry that it doesn't even come close.

I stand by my statement, with the exception for people who actually have gone to the trouble of building emu cabs.

TO each his own... If my only option is to play on a PC...then guess who won't be playing....
If you enjoy playing on an EMU,I'm happy for you...

Winston, What emulator are we talking about ? Mame or Kawaks. the new mame beta which supports MS3 has only been on the sceen for a few days.
If it is Mame it would be interesting to see the source code. If someone is compiling mame for this kind of use it should be known now and stopped.

Could be a warez version of a Mega PC conversion:

Mega's PC games

Do you see anything related to Mega, Eolith, Brezza, or SNK anywhere in the documentation?
