What? No release plan?

Chris, I think what you're suggesting is right, maybe the only way I/We can play this at home is to get the Naomi board itself.

Just to get an idea, how much do they cost anyway?

And also, do the vertical plasma-like screen came with it?

Sure Ray, why don’t ya pick up a Naomi? They’ll set you back about $1,500-1,700 though. Certainly not cheap. And tack on that plasma display, you’re looking at $20,000 for a freaking game. I don’t know about you, but I’ll pass.

What?

21,000 too much for a game? You obviously have no place in this forum

Holy crap!

If that's how much it'll cost me, I'll pass too!

It's just a pity that other Australians doesn't really like shooters, so I doubt it if Ikaruga will ever came to the arcade in here (or maybe as you said, the cost makes them scared?).

Oh well, just pray that someday, it'll be released on DC!

I don’t think it's coming anytime soon but you can almost bank on it coming out some time later this year or early next.

about that plasma screen i do not know !
but the naomi board was nt that expensive when i remember back in germany,i have got some good ofers there..but no intrest because not the right game to justify that amount of money !

but now i have a reason...i have played ikaruga...and if you are into shooters....this is a god of them !

i don't now the curent prices....but now it's certain...i do not spend anymore that much money on games like years before..because there are not many good games.....i don't know...not like in the past, many games in one month....so ..where is the problem ?

but everybody must decide for him self !

i spend all the money one one game one one time, and this game it's one of the best i have ever been given too play !

still pray for a dc release !

I saw the board for sale for about $1000 full kit... I have not seen a loose game yet, but is probably going to be in the $500 - 800 range for a while. It will drop though, just like its older brother Radiant Silvergun (which can now be had with and ST-V for about $200 and less).

No matter how Good the Dc is or was Companies still focus on 1 Thing Money. !
Dc=No money, market is too small now.
Ps2=Loads of cash 30 million worldwide.
Xbox= A great possibility
Gamec=Has also a great chance more than the Xbox.
But as Treasures track record goes they have not always made games for the best systems take Sin and Punishment for example this game would have made a Huge Impact on the Ps2, Im no fanboy of the P2 but Im just thinking from a Money making point of view, I own all 3 sys plus the older ones the DC being my Favorite after the Neo so any 1 it falls on would be fine.

Ah, shit! Oh well. Looks like we're waiting for a future announcement from Treasure. Let's just pray they really do decide to bring it to a console later on.

Oh geez, that slipped my mind!

I mean, after Treasure released Radiant Silvergun for the Saturn in 1998, on the Saturn's death knell,

and then released Sin and Punishment for the N64 in 2000, likewise, when the N64 was about to be unsupported.

Treasure has a strong history of producing games for broad audience systems. Yep, their best games were made for the PSX, I tell ya.

I am still optimistic about a DC release. Maegawa-san only said that they have not made an official announcement, meaning that they can still announce it if they want.

And he did not say it wasn't in development for DC. He only said it wasn't coming to PS2. If it was not coming to DC either, it would have been prudent to say that at the same time. So in this case, no news is kinda good news...

Isn't Capcom working with Nintendo and Sega with the new Triforce arcade system? It's based off the Gamecube hardware for the record.

Anybody seen this update from NCS yet?

http://www.ncsx.org/2002/ncs052702/ncs0527th.htm

NEWS: Assorted Updates
Ikaruga is not in play. All preorders remain tentative until we hear additional news from our supplier(s). As such, it is not necessary to email NCS to cancel your preorder as nothing will be processed until we have more information. In other words, we receive bountiful email floods every day and don't need another stream. We have not charged anyone for Ikaruga per our normal pre-order policies.
NCS contacted Treasure directly and through intermediaries a number of times to try and effect a production run of 5,000 copies for which we would bear the full brunt and all costs. Alas, they appear aloof. We have sizable preorders for this game and obviously, we'd like to see it released. If we have any updates, we'll keep everyone posted.

------------

(back to my post) It's hard to imagine a DC version not being released... since the Naomi game is almost directly compatible with the DC, there's hardly any development to be done... just throw together an options menu and burn that baby.

That’s true. I actually totally forgot that they would only release on a still profitable system. Oh well no hopes of a PS2 release, at least not state side.

Thumbs up to NCSX for trying to do something about the situation. Somehow I think there's still some hope left

That was really good of NCS and they would have made a killing too. Just sounds like Treasure doesn't want to piss off arcade owners who bought Ikaruga. I wouldn't be surprised to see this make it near the end of the year to give operators more time to make some money on the $2000+ investment made on the complete kit.

Eek. Doesn't sound good. The only hope i can think of now is the excellent point mentioned by Bar81- maybe they do want to give it some time in the arcades.

Oh, the other thing is, i don't see why everyone is saying that DC is no longer profitable. There are still millions of DC owners out there, even if the actual systems are only selling several hundred a week now. If enough gamers were to ask for it (i.e. many thousands), it would quite possibly get released.

Damn.

However, my fingers are crossed for a later release. What Bar81 said could very well be the truth- the game came out late last year, and arcade owners probably do want a bit more exclusivity.

Treasure will probably surprise us sometime later however.

Nothing makes less sense for a company that makes arcade games than rushing ports to home consoles.

Arcade operaters feel ripped off, rushed conversions can make fans feel ripped off, so the company loses sales on two fronts.

I hope they take their time and make a kick ass port with some nice extras.
