why would someone remove the serial numbers?

Cause people are A-holes. there is another reason though.....

Has to do with a few factors but the reason these nuumbers are removed is becuase of SNK. You see SNK wants MVS games with certain serial numbers to stay where they are. Hence HK, Europe or wherever else they might go. Say perchance SNK gets ahold of an MVS game in Japan with a serial number that was meant for Europe. SNK keeps track of these numbers of who they sold such MVS game to and then from there would be able to trace back who sold the game out of the country. The Person who then had originally gotten the MVS game would be in trouble from SNK and thus probably sued. It's a long story but overall that's why most MVS games you get online from a lot of places have serial numbers removed. Makes sense and covers the asses of the guys who are moving these games around.
