The AES II: (Just some of many features)
- Can play all home carts.
- Built in Memory Card.
- Low Profile Design.
- Will work with all NeoGeo controllers, including our Arcade stick.
- 4 Controller ports:
2 x Standard NeoGeo Controller ports.
2 x PC Compatible Controller ports.
- High Quality Edge Board connectors.
- Works with the Phantom-1.
- Will run any JAMMA PCB.
- RGB, Composite, and S-Video on board.
To me, it sounds like someone is re-inventing the wheels. But, this time with hubcabs.
I probably will not buy this product. I can bet it will cost more than $400. What I WANT AND WHAT WE WANT ARE GAMES. I am content with my current 12Mhz Neo Geo with scuff marks on top that has only two controller. I know my current console has High Quality Edge Board connectors because it is 8 years old and still working great and it does play all home cart.
The new AES II works with the Phantom-1, This tells me that the new AES 2 alone will not play MVS..now lets see (AES II $400 + Phantom-1 $399 = lots of money to ARCADE) NO THANKS
If Arcade really wants to help the Neo Geo community and make money. I think they could do this instead;
Refurbished old Neo Geo consoles or make new one but same style (save money on research, those old chips are cheap now) and sell them for $200-$250. This would keep it price competitive with other consoles and attracts new Neo Geo blood. MUST MUST MUST Get rights from SNK, reproduce Neo Geo games. They WILL SELL way more games than the current sale of Phamton-1 convertor.
I think the only way to make money in the Neo Geo market and help it at the same time is to reproduce games.
If they make just the AES II and No games, the equation would look like this:
AES II + no Games = Phantom-1 Convertor.
Than the Winners are MVS cart and ARCADE'S PHANTOM-1 CONV.
The bottom here line is, in order for any company to help the Neo Geo community and themself also, they must reproduce games.
