This news is now 8 days old, but I had not heard any mention of it.

Did anyone catch this?(edit-on mmcafe.com):

Short Comment- Something to Happen to Site, Soon.

I can't disclose of the details due to Hosting agreements with the Network, but there will be new changes in all of GameSpy's hosted sites soon. This includes the MMCafe as well.

Although this will definitely be a step into the current trend on the internet, I don't think it's a change that the general visitors will exactly enjoy. I'm not exactly fond about it either. I won't make any comments on it until it happens, but let's hope that it's not too bad.

Now, the only current trend on the internet that might upset casual readers I can think of is some sort of pay service, like Gamespot, IGN, Penny-Arcades extra stuff, or other things of theat type.

Anyone with any ideas what his might be about?

I for one, realize that everything on the internet actually costs money somwhere, so I'm not one to bitch about how everything should be free. Kids with no concept of money can do that.

Speculation?

The Professor reported it wouldn't be as drastic as a pay service, but declined to comment further. But sources revealed that the change will be pop up adds. So that is what you should expect. Professor confirmed the rumor (check MMCafe forum).

I don't think it's too horrible myself, lots of pop up killer progs out there anyway.

Well I finally signed up for Gamespot Complete, I personally don't mind paying some money for all the time and effort they put into it. And GC is only 19.95 for a year, less than a magazine subscription, and they really bust ass to get content out there. IGN on the other hand . . . <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" />

It dependson how much you visit the sites and get the info, for me, anything video game related is nonessential, if they start charging to visit the sites, heck, I just don't bother. Most of those gaming sites don't realize that and they'll be in for a rude awakening when they find out how much their traffics will be down (number of users).

On the other hand, I swear by search engine Google and a few professional forums which I get updates on a lot of stuff and trend, as well as studying techniques, if they start charging for it, would I pay them to use their services? You bet!

For me, current video gaming doesn't interest me that much and if I need to check for any classic gaming and Neo-Geo, either here, digitpress, or NCS would do.
