Well I got an e-mail back from those guys and here’s what it said:
Hello

So very sorry for delay, got server probs again. We switch to another
system soon.

We'll take pre-orders on the Shadow-4 System soon for US$395. (Not set
yet but will be something like that).

Your welcome to signup your interest.

Pretty self-explanatory there. The only thing is that it’s still pretty expensive, oh well.

If they came out with a 1 slot for $250 I'd be all over that. Hell I'd order a 2nd one for a backup. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[LOL]" />

because new 0ne slots are A cool $200 ( you can get A used 4 slot for less than that) so there is the reason why.

What about controllers? If you have to buy them you better bump that price up to 560 - 600. <img src="graemlins/ohno.gif" border="0" alt="[Oh No]" /> That would suck. I dont know if its been confirmed on recent topics but does anyone know if the video output will be any better or equal to a sigma? I would say go with a 300 price tag. That way it will put it at a comfortable medium between a super nova with a MVS and a Sigma with a MVS. <img src="graemlins/smirk.gif" border="0" alt="[Smirk]" />

Nah. Im saying if you buy this as your first system and you dont already have any neo geo stuff you would have to buy controllers also right? That would bump that 395 price up a bit right?

OK, I am interested in this system... Ray, any info on this for us? Will it come with controllers? Even cheap pads would be cool, then we can upgrade to Neo Sticks if we want to later, or use the ones we have... but being an MVS owner only, I would like to be able to play this thing out of the box on my TV! It still sounds like a cool idea, I know it is just a modded 4 slot, but a good 4 slot will set you back around $250 stateside. Add $150 or so for the mods, case, and of course assembly fees... and throw in a few control pads or cheap sticks!!! Thats a deal I say. Hey, even better idea, buy a bunch of those $5-10 MVS games (SS1, FF, etc...) and include it as a pack in... it may make the whole thing more digestable to some :) Keep us posted,

-Nick

Ok, lets take a look at this thing.

It is simply a 4 slot motherboard modified with video out and it's own power supply. There appears to be no customization beyond that (the case you speak of is simply a coat a black paint applied to the standard MVS cover). It's still the large, ugly, exposed MVS unit that was meant to be placed inside a cab. It will be even more bulky in fact due to the external power supply that will have to be dragged around.

As for pricing, who knows. I doubt these will be 100% new products (despite what he may claim) due to the simple fact that there is not some vast supply of hidden brand new 4 slot MVS boards out there. They may be purchased, refurbished, cleaned then sold as new, but that's not up to me to speculate (maybe he does have a source, who knows). We are looking at $150 for a 4 slot board (single slots can be found for less than $100). That means there is an additional $250 thrown into the mix somewhere. Lets assume the power supply costs $40 (he's buying all this in bulk so prices will be down), that's $210 to spread across the TV out, labor and markup.

Hmm...

Call me foolish, but I'll take a Super Gun over this ANYDAY.

Feelgood, any further insight as to how EXACTLY this would be done?
I mean to wire just a standard MVS board to operate on a TV. If it's easy, how do you do it?

You're also missing the fact that the video output of this system (the Shadow 4) will probably be far above the crap s-video output of the MAS Super NOVA, or GW Trading HGA. Both those systems have crappy s-vid output (the Sigma has much better s-vid though).

I bet the S4 will have very clean, nice s-video output. I'd take it for that reason, any day, over a crappy supergun . . . plus, it plays MVS carts, which makes it REALLY worth it . . .

I'll probably be picking one up, based on what I've heard so far. :)

Is this system capable of playing JAMMA games as well? I remember some talk about that possibility a while back...if so, I'm sold!

You guys probably won't be able to swap in different systems (Naomi, Hyper 64, or any other JAMMA) because the audio/video out will probably be modified directly onto the MVS board itself.

Remember, he's basically making a home version of the MVS. Expect it to function like any other home console with an external power supply.

EDIT: He said a while back that you could select between the home or MVS BIOS, who knows about a "debug" BIOS though (4X BIOS). It's easy enough to put in yourself if you want to do so.

Shadow 4 system ( play mvs, not jamma )
Features:

S-Video and Composite Video

A new custom made internal video board was designed from the ground up for use on the MVS system. This offers the best image possible while maintaining bright RGB. Unlike external devices such as a SuperGun which require adjusting, every system board is fine tuned before shipping - no end user adjusting will be required, ever.

Home System Bios

The on board MVS bios is replaced with a AES Home system bios. This turns the system from a 4 slot arcade system into a 4 slot home system.

SNK Controller Support

All SNK official controllers and control pads have been tested to work with these units. Users can also expect all the features of a normal home system including the pause feature.

Stereo Sound

Gold plated RCA connectors are located on the unit which output pure stereo sound. Those with a stereo system can look forward to the best pure audio sound a NeoGeo can offer. The 4 slot units process sound much better than thie home system counterparts.

Enhanced Stereo Sound

The systems built in sound system was state of the art when it was first introduced into arcades. Users today expect much more out of a system which no NeoGeo can deliver on its own. A new Stereo Sound Processor has been created and installed into every 4 slot system. This board takes the pure stereo sound from the system and produces sound well over 10 times better than before. Enhanced base, richer - fuller sound. Finally hear everything your game has to offer.

The MVS Bios gives you unlimited credits any ways, so why would you need the Debug Bios? Plus, Ray is also talking about throwing in a controller, or a game as a packaged deal.
