I donno if you check da ROMZ no Neo cart has gone above 688Megs....

It's still technically possible to go over that, I think. But sadly, I don't think they can get over 512Mbits (or 64 Megabytes) worth of graphics data.

KOF2k2 is one kick ass fighter though!

Peace

Don't believe everything you read. That is thanks to NGF, which are idiots.

Simple to know the whole MEG count.

Just ask anybody who have the rom.

Ask how many megs does it takes unzipped.

Multiply x8. Do the math. ;)

Roooooomiiiiies.... ?

NGF says that the meg count for KOF 2001 is 702 megs. If you look at their insert it says 702 on it. I do believe that I saw their MVS label say 892 megs but I think that they corrected it later on. Just my 2 cents.

KOF2001 is 681 MEGS If I ain't wrong.

Nothing near those "freaked" 892 MEGS.

Untill the Size of KOF2002 remains unconfirmed, Metal Slug 3 will still have the "King SIZE" trophy. ;)

Now the new MEGSIZE KING is KOF2002.

According to the romz that are flying over the net, the game unzipped is 101 Megabytes.

101Megabytes x8 = 808 Megabits

This is from now on the biggest Megsize home cart release.

But I can't confirm if those romz uses many diferent romsets to be able to play on an emulator, if so, there is also another version that is smaller.

85.1 Megabytes x8 = 680.8 Megabits.

This one is almost matching the numbers Fran posted above.

Discuss now! <img src="graemlins/glee.gif" border="0" alt="[Glee]" />

Oh and according to TEH ROMZ it is 718.8 or 719 to be easier... hell SNK would probably call it 720... but that is the real size,

You are looking at the encrypted file set, that is much larger then the data in the chips... and for the second you are looking at the reported, not th actual size which is roughly 89,849,856 bytes... of course block size could be different on my computer, I am using NTFS. Roughly I would say it is between your 680.8 and my 718.8 guess, roughly 700 MEG. Not to bad,

God regardless, I want KOF2K2 NOW!!!! I wish the $190 price was real, hehe, I think I might jump on it, but as is, I will wait. This is the first KOF I have been really excited about, can't wait to get the MVS cart, 700, 720, 680 whatever MEGs, it rocks,

There's one romset weighting at 681 megs, which shouldn't be far from the real thing.

Oh and SNK did calculate meg count on ROM sizes, not actual used space. That's why MS3 shows 708 megs where it could be 684 (like the 2nd run MVS carts are)

This all makes me worried about the quality of SNK vs Capcom. I was HOPING that somehow SNK vs Capcom would contain MOTW quality graphics and animation while at the same time having a good number of characters...

For some reason I had believed that KoF 2K1 was 892 megs, I can't remember where I heard that it was 892 but now in retrospect that was pretty naive of me to just believe it. That belief coupled with the theory that Metal Slug 4 was something like ~500 was perhaps because playmore had figured out a better way to use the available space on the chips.. That gave me hope for SNK vs Capcom, now my hopes have been shattered. :(

SNK vs Capcom will no doubt be a good game, but graphically what is in store? To me, MOTW (graphics wise) is the benchmark for all Neo fighters. now I hope whats taking so long is them figuring out a way of getting past the ~700 mega mark... Couldn't they just cram more chips onto the boards? Or somehow make a daughter board that fit inside the cart casing? I'm no tech wiz so those ideas prolly sound ridiculous.. but damn I want SNK vs Capcom to LOOK as good as it will no doubt play.

Then there are the english spines..... :(

I'm sure a lot of us wouldn't mind the price increase if the game had 30+ playable characters and MOTW graphics. This is an expensive hobby...I'd pay $600 for that game.

And to be sure, it would be a hit in the arcades.
