Personally, I'm impressed that Medal Of Honor Frontline has sold 97,000+ copies. It's an awesome game but I never thought it would do any notable business on Japanese shores.

But regarding KOF 2K, I'm not surprised. It IS a 2 year old game; Playmore really needs to get on the ball and have the ports released within 6 months of the arcade release if they expect them to be competitive sellers. Anyway, give it some time. We'll see what happens.

few will buy the origenal carts if they did so . 10 months from the AES release will be better

The sales appear to be a lot better than a NGH release... I mean for newer games, since there really was NO LEGIT release of 2K (NGF doesn't count). That being an English count of only 500 +/- carts in production. Unfortunately even a run that small still leaves Shawn with overstock :(

>>few will buy the origenal carts if they did so . 10 months from the AES release will be better<<

'Few' are the numbers purchasing the Neo carts right now, anyway. Do you think neo geo owners, worldwide, make up any more than an iota of the video game market? If Playmore/Brezzasoft/Eolith/SNK/whoever is making any money at all it's in the ARCADES, not the home market. While I'm VERY grateful they continue to release home carts so us neo fans can enjoy the games the way they were meant to be experienced, it boggles my mind why they are wasting the time and resources doing so. The high price point of a neo cart scares away all but the most devoted fanatics. To use an analogy, few can afford to buy a new Porsche or Lamborghini every six months.

And anyway, if someone is inclined to purchase the home cart to begin with, the pending release of the DC version isn't going to present any kind of conundrum for them; a neo cart buyer will almost always buy the neo cart, even if a DC port is going to be available six months from the date of release.

The REAL way for Playmore and keep their company alive and make money is to make the games available on the most popular consoles while the game is still relatively fresh in the mind of the gamer. Releasing a two year old game to PS2 will do some business, but not nearly as much as it would have while the game was still a 'hot' commodity, as it were.

But regardless of the time between arcade release and home release, at least we both agree it should be less than a year.

No, KOF is King in Japan, at least at arcades.

Arcadia Charts:
1. KOF2k2
2. VF4 Evo
3. GGXX

http://www.arcadiamagazine.com/

And about the NeoGeo Home releases. 6.500 x 39.900 Yen (KOF2k1NG) is more turnover than 17.175 x 6.800 Yen (KOF2k0DC).
Keep in Mind that KOF2k0 is quite old and was also released on DC.

a 2+ year old game (and not the best one in the series to begin with) not selling that well? Wow, where is the suspense.

Hey, Fran. How have you been?

I see we're still our normal bright and cheery self, right ;)

EDIT regarding this comment:

-And about the NeoGeo Home releases. 6.500 x 39.900 Yen (KOF2k1NG) is more turnover than 17.175 x 6.800 Yen (KOF2k0DC).
Keep in Mind that KOF2k0 is quite old and was also released on DC.-

If 2K had been released within six months/1 year of the arcade release, those sales numbers would have been WAY up. I don't doubt what you're saying, but had Playmore not had its head up its own ass when it came to marketing, they would have been more aggressive with 2K's home console porting.

Like Fran said who cares about the

sales of a port in Japan?

Oh there's only a little over

300,000 neo units out there, and

only a few KOF2000 Jap homecarts

were avaialable...

Good news if you think that all these sales will help to produce new neo games.

Yeah but it's still a cool bonus if you already want the game.

-taiso can say what he wants to say cos hes alright-

Thanks, man. I appreciate the sentiment.

-and thats the end of it-

Too feckin' right :)

-and yes,i'm doing fine i guess

how be you?-

You know, the holidays are a drag. I mean, I like the festive mood and the general spirit of the thing, but the whole shopping/buying thing burns me out quick. And with me trying to pay off a few minor bills AND make the room in my budget for KOF 2K2 on home cart AND do some X-mas shopping...well, I do pretty well but my lady's gone back to college to get a proper education, and that costs money.

My girlfriend's education. Neo Geo. What a choice to have to make :) Add to that the frustration of no new Buffy or Smallville episodes until January and you've got one seriously lacking in direction Taiso.

Hey, I wanted to know what you thought of Biohazard 0. I don't know if you got a Gamecube or not, so I don't even know if you've played it. For that matter (if you've got a GC), what did you think of Biohazard Rebirth?

-come back more often man :) -

I been hanging around. I post when feel the need to. Actually, my presence at ON is about the same as it is around here; sparse and scattered. Since I manage the FF forums there, I try to check in once or twice a day to make sure nobody's stirring up trouble in my forums but other than that I've been under the radar. My major internet activity right now is helping out at www.raddradio.com Streaming audio video game internet Shoutcast station. Not a download site...it's strictly tuning in and listening (and you can make requests, too). It's like having a radio on while you surf the internet, with the music being video game tunes. Lots of Southtown-verse and SS music. Gonna be adding some Last Blade pretty soon. Go and give it a check. Lemme know what you think.

-and i promise i wont moan about this kind of topics-

The 'moaning's' all good. We all got opinions, right? The only thing I don't like is when people take it so seriously that they percieve every disagreement as a personal affront to their being and they start flame wars over stupid shite. That's what I can do without.

-fuck,its been ages since i last visited orochinagi

something up?-

Not as far as I can tell. It's all been pretty quiet on all fronts inasmuch as I can see it.

Okay, sorry to turn this into a conversation thread. Back to the topic at hand.

it has nothing to do with ps2 owners . it's because KOF2000 is really old and it's not played in arcades anymore . CvS sold very well even though it's a 2d fighter . at least , I am happy to see the game make it to the top 15 in it's first week . I hope it will sell better in the future .

I believe the DC version too did roughly the same in Japan.DC version sold roughly about 11,000-16,000 copies.
