Well, what can I say... What else was there to expect from Microsoft? IMO the smartest thing to do is to abandon windows and start using Mac OS X. I just love my G4!

Mac os x is nice but it still sucks because you are forced to buy apple's hardware. If you could install it on other power pc systems or intel systems then it would be nice. Windows XP is just the future of Microsoft products they are just trying to prevent piracy on their part. BeOS and linux are way better I would recommend looking into them.

In fact, we should all go out and buy Xbox's and install linux on them and use them as computers.

I've already heard about the privacy invasive "features" of XP. I don't like piracy, but I detest SPYWARE a whole lot more.

I am sticking to Win 98 forever. Fuck XP. Why on earth would I want to buy SPYWARE to install on my PC?

well I dislike the new MS Policy as well. But the fact is Every New Intel/AMD based Home computer will come out with XP inhstalled. Also as is customery MS will pull all the ME/2000 off the shelves when XP comes out.

"Resitence is Futile"

Actuall now might be a good time to buy Unix stock. who nows what the computer industry may do.

or does any remember IBM Microchannel architechture

I custom build my computers, so I'm not affected by the industry's decision
to have XP installed on every pre manufactured machine known to man. Intel learned the
hard way with the PIII and it's security feature, and so will Microsoft with XP.

Accually I always buy my PC's with no OS installed, since I'm going to be using windows 98 se for a long while, IMO its the best OS out right now as far as windows goes.

Since its the best for gaming by far.

Windows ME just sucks, and I wouldnt touch XP with a 10 foot pole. Accually if enough people dont buy XP, microsoft might get a brain about this spyware shit.

Thats the same reason I dont use Realplayer, since they spy on what you use realplayer for, also add to the fact that realplayer just sucks.

I wouldn't be surprised, it's difficult to tell at this stage how much the XP Spyware does and how much is paranoia. I just noticed that the 1st two links are down anyway so I will edit them out and leave the last two.

Check this out:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/4/20433.html

Don't know if this will help with all of the Spyware issues, but it will get you past the registration check at least as of now. I'm not sure how much of the Spyware will make it to deployment anyway -- the discovery of this facet of Windows XP seems to be accompanied by a surge in Linux sales. If BG starts feeling a pain in the wallet, I can see these features being scaled back or removed.
