Neo-geo.com and !Arcade! have been discussing
an idea for an all Neo "Full colour-Full Blown" magazine. This project would encompass
everything that has made this system great. New releases, reviews, technical sections, buy and sell sections, current "reliable" news, etc. Before we implemented this idea we thought we would toss it out to the community for some feedback. This would be done on a monthly basis and pricing has yet to be determined, but being in the printing business we are sure we can keep the cost most reasonable.

We would like to know if you like the idea, and if there are any creative types out there who would like to contribute along with the writers we are currently lining up.

Best Regards

I'll review anything you get to me. Examples of my reviews are available at neogeoenthusiast.cjb.net , and in the current issue of Neo News. I take this seriously and I am very good at it.

No offense but I really don't wanna see shawns price guides in a print magazine <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Besides the couple of neo print mags that are out there right now seem pretty cool.

Sounds like a great idea, I'd gladly subscribe just as I did for GameGo! magazine. <IMG SRC="smilies/eek2.gif" border="0">

I've recently done a featured review in one of the issues of Neo News, for KOF2K.

While I admire your efforts (both past and present), I don't think the neo geo scene needs another 'zine as an information source, or even a 'zine to begin with for that matter. The magazine as an information medium is a bit too ambitious and oldschool for the neo geo comunity considering the the few games avaiable now and the limited number of games available in the future. Granted we are counting on both you and shawn for the comunity to both grow and stay unified, but at the end of the day I don't see why I would need to pay for information that is already available on the web--both on neo-geo.com and other sites. Perhaps arcade!, vectorlogic, neo-media, and shawn have some projects to keep us looking ahead, but until I see substantial growth in the neo geo scene both game and gamer-wise I would suggest your much appreciated talents to be spent elswhere.

If you take paypal, i will pre-subscribe, and send you money right now... i want nothing more than a new neo-geo magazine. i WISH you could translate, and reprint the articles from the old Neo Geo Freak Magazine... that would be truly spectacular..

count me in..

I agree, gaming mags are just kinda silly nowadays, websites can post news, reviews ect ect so much more better and 1,000 times faster than a mag ever could.

Where do ALL magazines get their "news" from anyways? Why that would be the net...

Cut out the print shop middle man, and go to the source, the net.

A print magazine would be kinda dumb, unless it was just a like a monthley fanzine, that didn't try and be a source for neo geo news ect. Fanzines are cool.

As for me I don't buy printed paper, when I can get the same stuff online for free.

If you do start a mag, I hope you have more info on it than you have for the AES 2 or your strikers carts, strange you have nothing on your site about either, yet you "announced" them so long ago.

And not to bad mouth arcade!, but he only seems to post on this BBS, when he's trying to sell or promote something. I saw all those posts asking questions about the AES 2, Strikers ect. and never saw arcade! answer any of them.

Gee maybe if you had any info on your website, people wouldn't have these questions. I would fix up your site, and see if you can update that regularly, before worrying about a print mag.

Where did that "reliable" comment enfuse?
These partnerships have gotten redicoulous beyond belief.
Lets take a look at the time line.
Shawn deals with Dion on numerous accounts, not taking our words into consideration.
Then he downs ray in PUBLIC and the whole fan base does not question it.
Now he has allied with ray, then when someone questions the bullshit mentality that goes on they get shot down.
Money speaks.
Now I am at a missunderstanding with the attitudes I see put forward.

Lets face the facts, I gave !ARCADE! as much support as possible with this AES2 stuff.

And where is the AES2? I admit hell, I want a fully compatible cartridge based system, like the next neo fan.
Price? Release? Did I miss something?
I am with Caris on this one.
This just is not right, and my gut don't lie.

how will you acquire the news though for it?
While others may think this idea is good, lets face it people the neo is not popular.
Its in a cult minority of gamers, these magazines simply do not work.
And how many people will actively subscribe to this, what ever happened to the term SNK official. I am neutral on this issue.

Lol,its not gonna have many reviews in it of new games cos there arnt any itd end up a 20 page magazine,if you review old games you are limited to the 120 or so games available, people already know what and how good the games are and there are plenty of reviews on the net.
What news?
what previews?
what adverts?
the only use for it will be what people talk about but we can get that for free in these forums, why would anyone want to pay for something they have already heard or can get free off the web.

Well its not like there are games coming out for the neo every month, even PC mags only carry about 100-150 pages and there like reviewing and previewing 40 games with a letters section and talking about hardware and stuff, with tonnes of adverts.
Whoever thought this up has got there head in the clouds, especially when putting it on a website that has about 20 links to other sites with reviews and stuff and message boards.Pointless and rather strange, unless !arcade! plan to make new games in which case the mag wont have any reviews cos there not gonna make a game then give it 50% in a review, itd be a mag of adverts then.

Maybe I was a bit harsh.
I just dont think we need many magazines based on the neo, we got the inet.
And RAY! Where is that AES 2, I want one!!!
argh! <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

The issue is that this to me looks like a attack on a Mike since there was a use of "reliable" that hit me funny..
I want to know why people do this?
I would support both ventures on the condition they supported each other.

This sounds like it could make a cool neo-collectible. Game magazines are obsolete due to the internet... However we still read "game go" even though its filled with information that could be found online. Its just kinda nice having the printed thing in front of you.
Maybe the term "fanzine" would be more appropriate here...

I agree with Caris... Update your site a little, put some info up there, maybe put the reviews and stuff on your site or something. Who's to say you can keep an annual magazine going when you can't even update your website? I'm not badmouthing you guys, I think you are doing great stuff for the Neo, but ever since I heard you guys existed there has been absolutely no iformation whatsoever on that website of yours... I think you should concentrate on that a little more.

That's not to say if you did make a magazine I wouldn't subscribe, I probably would if it wasn't overpriced... I want to support you guys in your endeavors, but the Strikers cart doesn't interest me as I would get the MVS cart if I wanted the game, the AES II doesn't interest me as I already have access to both systems, etc. So I probably would subscribe, and I may even want to help write a column or something, I'm trying to brush up on my writing (you wouldn't happen to need movie reviews, would you? <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">) But I think you guys really have other promises to fulfill before diving headfirst into something else...
