Ok. Take this as you like. It could be TOTAL bs/misinformation, or it could be a revelation. I make no claims as to which. I am simply putting this out there for others to verify/disprove. This came from a King of Fighters ML'r:

"I got this info from my very reliable sources, Mexico's SNK distributor:

Metal Slug 4: August 17 2001.
KOF 2001: August 24 2001.

Remember that these are the dates the games will be shipping and will be
available two to three weeks later and at least one month from this date to
be available in arcades.

And stay tuned for more information on Mexico presentation event, my source
is telling me that this time is being funded by both SNK and Eolith, so
expect better stuff than last year's.

Is it true? Odds are no. Is it fun to think about? I think so, and just maybe somebody else out there can verify the real deal.

If I have to watch carts be sold, prices going up, and anything involved with people getting Metal Slug 4 and not me, I will kill myself. I have strived for Metal Slug all my life and the closest I ever came was Ms2 CD. Which Im am selling now. (see selling forum) This summer I am probly going to get MS3, if I can rake up the 400+ dollars. If I get it, I will praise it as a god and play it night and day. MS4 (if it comes out) will keep me tense for a year after it comes out untill the summer which I make enough cash to buy it. (it'll be like $600+) I can keep waiting. Wait for MS4!!! I need to get MS3 first.

Metal Slug 4.... just imagine the possibilities. What concerns me here relating to the date is that neither game has been shown at any offical event, not even the recent JAMMA show. How can such a title be created in such secrecy?!?!

Well, to go to those shows it costs money... plus time out of peoples schedules. Unless you are sending uper managment (which happens a lot and is kind of funny) it is hard to take time out of developers/QA's schedule to make an appearance. If you are shipping a game in three - four months, that you are in crunch mode right now. There is no time to stop and think about anything. And with the money problems SNK has had recently, I can see why they might choose to sit it out. I don't think that SNK not being at JAMMA is a big deal... but who knows <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0"> I just want to believe we will see Slug 4 this year. You can keep KOF <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">
