Hmm, bad colours. I'm already somewhat dissapointed and it's only one screenshot.

Doesnt have the Irem look quite down.

Let's see if they can get the gameply going.

Dont tell me they kept in those stupid Metal Slug 4 characters.

God I hate them.

The greens are too similar frown

I liked them, especially Nadia. It sure beats playing with the same old character over and over and over again.

The character in the screen doesn't look like anyone from Metal Slug 4, a new character perhaps?

Neither here nor there for me.

Good point : looks like Metal Slug

Bad point : Looks like a GBA game

I'm just glad to know that this game is still in development.

the new character looks kinda stupid, but if i can carry metal slug in my pocket and play it anywhere, it'll be cool, especially since arcades aren't as abundant as they once were.

Here's to hoping this doesn't suck, although I'm fearing the worst.

"There will be two new characters featured in the game; Walter and Taira. You can collect 100 Metal Slug Cards throughout the game which will affect your characters' status in some way. The levels will be branching paths like the NGPC outings, and the price has been settled at 4800 yen. The release date remains August 24, 2003."

From what I see, it's great that the designers opted to port the character graphics in their original aspects rather than 'scaling them down' because of the lower resolution.

Hope it will have some great digitzed music instead of using the original Gameboy sound chip.

It's just a single low quality screen from a Game Boy Advance game. And why can't it be better than the NGPC ones? I don't get you people! I'm just happy that it's going to come out and hoping it plays well. At least we won't hear any whining about rehashed graphics this time...

the thing that really bothers me is that blue lifebar. Let's hope it still keeps the same Slug way to play. wink

For fucks sake you guys want to listen to yourselves bitch and whine. It's a new Metal Slug for God's sake! The way some of you guys are talking, it's like you're desperately hoping it will be shit, so's you can all stroke your chins whilst saying I-told-you-so, and mumbling to anyone that gives a shit about how the NGPC was a better machine than the GBA anyways. Get off the SNK fanboy trip - the NGPC was an underpowered crappy machine that wasn't really worthy of the Neo-Geo tag, and Metal Slug 1st mission (haven't got the second, so I can't comment) was nothing more than an average 2D platformy shmup that didn't really play like the original and would've made for an average C64 budget game 15 years ago. Sure - perhaps the GBA version won't play similarily either - but if nothing else, it looks a lot better than the NGPC. Rant over.

I guess thats a life bar just like NGPC games.

The game ships for Gamestop on November 11th. In other words, they should have it on the 12th in stores. Also, Metal Slug 3 ships on November 18th. Thats alot of Metal Slug in one month!

The game certainly looks better then the NGPC versions, and will probably play closer to regular Slug then the NGPC versions too. That does look like a Life bar though...I would imagine it's to help get the game out there a bit more for people that get turned off by one hit kills. Trying to appeal to a larger market or something. I do hope they are smart and give you the option to disable it and play traditionally though.

Dosen't the fact that a life bar is there prove the games departure from linear arcade-style level design?

No, it just proves you can take more then one hit.

Its still all about fun. As I remember from the NGPC instead of dying once you'd have a lifebar and at the end of your life bar you'd have to use a continue, unlike the aes/mvs where you got to use 4 lifes or whatever. Just think of it as your 4 lives. The NGPC did it that way to cut down on memory because of the animation of each unique death of the character like in the AES/mvs slugs.

I really dont care how it plays or if stays true to slugs roots as long as its fun. The thing I DO hope they do, though, is make the blood for both JPN and US. GBA can play JPN without modding, though, right? I know it plays PAL gba.

I dont know what you guys are talking about. It looks amazing good. Im surprised that so much of the originals visual quality is intact.

So life bars are no big deal cause it's all about fun, but blood is? I'm not saying that it has to be a certain way, I just hope they give you the option.

since people keep complaining that its on the GBA ill say what i told dinodoedoe, its on the fucking game boy player for heavens sakes.....bitching about the GBA is like spitting in a damn river. Enjoy the fact that MS is on some varied sytems and not just pigeonholed for some huge ass price.

or in the light of our fellow man, feel glad that some poeple will get to experience MS on a diff. system.....the more people that play, the more sequales we can expect.
