This not really a question I need answered, so much as it is just a discussion topic. How would you feel about seeing a special on the Neo Geo in a magazine like EGM, Gamepro, etc?

If any one caught the special that EGM did on the Super Nintendo a month or two ago, then you kinda' have an idea of what I'm getting at. I would just like to see a write up in a magazine like that to let people know that the Neo Geo still exists, and to show how a system can still be considered alive after all this time.

If your interested in something like this, you should send an e-mail to a magazine or two.

I also think that this could spark interest in that AES II that a few people here want to see made.

So lets here it,

Nice to see another MN Neo gamer!

I think this is a great idea!
Give us some email links to some of the mags you are taking about, and we'd be happy to email them! I don't subscribe to many mags, so I don't know of the contact addresses..

I have pitched a little "The Neo Lives" story for our arcade column but so far have been unable to convince anybody that it's a story worth doing. I'll keep you posted.

Of course they still talk about the Neo Geo........ no other system has the following that the Neo Geo does.... except the atari 2600 :-) they actually still make games for that.

The Neo Geo has some VERY cool games and Good graphics considering it is 10-12 years old.

Correction, the Neo-Geo has some VERY cool games and Good graphics PERIOD.

The more it ages the better it gets.

Sadly, no--a big bombardment cmapaign would only crowd my mailbox and you'd be preaching to the choir. It's kind of between me and the arcade editor, and I've pitched twice to no avail. He has weapons in his office so I have to tread lightly.

I'm not surprised by this. I remember when Gamepro ran an article about 'dead'
systems, and the Neo CD was among the systems listed. The Neo CD was still
being supported by SNK when that article went to print (we're talking pre-Samurai
Shodown R.P.G. era), and it didn't settle well with your readers.

Apparently the influx of reader mail you received in defense of the Neo CD must
have been great, because Gamepro printed an apology in the issue thereafter. The
irony...

Got an address I can write to this arcade editor at? With arcades pretty much dead, he can't be doing that much.

EDIT-If not, get him to review the new Lupin gun game!!!!

Hmm...I think that was before my time. I was the guy who pushed to have a "Jaguar Lives" article based on fan feedback.

If the Lupin gun game was at AMOA, he probably saw it. If you wanna send the letter in, do it to letters@gamepro.com and I'll push it his way.

I think a good thing to do would be to ask them to put a little coverage of Sengoku 3 in their mag.
For one thing it's new,and people would probably say "Wow,they still make NEW games for that?"
These mags ussually have an arcade section that could cover that.
I haven't seen a new Neo game covered in these mags in a long time.

I don't think gaming magazines like gamepro and EGM understand the amount of care and time that SNK puts into there games. Even if they did, all they want to cover are the up and coming BIG TIME games that the general gaming populous wants to know about. The first thing that JOE JACKASS GAMER notices when he sees a game is the graphics and most people think NEO GEO graphics are dated. I love the detail and beauty of the NEO GEO graphics beyond any other flashy bs out now a days, but these magazines disagree. It sucks. NEO GEO seems to have no place in there magazines now a days. It's a fuggin shame too....

I was really disappointed in EGM for bitching about "dated graphics." Like when they reviewed Grand Theft Auto for the PlayStation a few years ago, they bitched about the graphics looking "primitive", but I think those so-called primitive graphics were the best part about the game. They just added the humor to it, IMO. I've seen previews for GTA3 and I'm very skeptical. It just looks more serious than fun.

I sent a letter to EGM asking them to do a story on the history of the NEO GEO. I havn't heard anything back from them (it was yesterday that I sent the letter). Hoping for the best though. If you would like to push for it, I say send a couple sentances worth to your favorite magizine, the worst that can happen is that they say no.

As for Grand Theft Auto 3, rent it first, but I think this game is BADASS!!! I picked it up yesterday and havn't put it down yet.
