What do you think, I'm just as sad as everyone seeing or hearing the OFFICIAL news that SNK is no more, but what will this do for the prices of homecarts, will they stay the same? increase? decrease? For some reason I think that they'll decrease because the newbies will lose interest on a now DEAD console with no games, even though SNK didn't have many, their was a steady stream of new releases now that no more games are scheduled to be release this may slow the market up, or maybe im just f****** wrong

At this time the problem is not to know if the carts will increase or not, it's more important to know if SNK will really close.

I don't know about decreasing, but I know they won't increase by a large amount.

It's not like SNK was making a huge amount of games and now that they are gone the well is dry. Face it, it has been for a long time. There are still the same number of Top Hunter carts out there as there were before. I do think a few people will drop it as a system now that games have ceased production, but just the oppisite could be said also. Look at all the people who buy Jag stuff now that it is dead.

Do I think games for MVS like Sengoku 3, NITD, and (if released) Zupapa will increase? Undoubtedly. Sengoku 3 and NITD had not finished its production and distrobution as far as I could tell. Leaving operators wanting leaving less for MVS collectors. I am not up on the status of the MVS, so don't hold me to that.

For all intents and purposes, I think everyones colecting hobby will continue on as usual, with the notable exception of raising 268 dollars for the yearly KoF.

NitD was a small production run, basicly if you want it buy it... same with Zupapa, watch that game get very scarce soon... glad I got one is all I can say. As for Sengoku 3, I doubt that will be a rare one... SNK did two production runs, and there are a lot floating around... plus the game is kind of poor... I mean don't get me wrong I want it but it is not the best game for the cash...

In a way, they shouldn't even increase since the games were in rare quantity anyhow when the system was still in circulation.

And to be honest... the prices of some of these games NEED to come down, so that the whole "cult following" of the Neo Geo can continue. If the prices still continue to climb, you're going to lose more people who even may consider buying an older system and some games. Then, the whole Neo Geo thing would become another lame collector's item with over-inflated prices, just like baseball card collecting.

Systems like the PC-Engine have managed to stay reasonably priced, with the games at decent prices besides some of the obvious gems... and none of these games are so ridiculous compared to a price of an out-of-print Neo Cart.... even though $300 for Dracula X is a bit crazy.

I'm no market analyst, but I have a feeling that prices will skyrocket on the rarer games, increase slightly on the more popular games, and somewhat decrease on the lower-quality games.

We're talkin' about ROM carts here, you can't compare them with CDs.
CDs are made in ten thousands copies; even the less successful PC-Engine title has been made in much larger quantity than the best selling Neo cart... It's the rarity that sets the price...

With some AES and MVS titles the 'well' is already dry. With SNK's demise, the prices will obviously increase, because their absence will negate any possibility of re-releases, which reduces the prices of that title.

Yes, if prices go up, it will be a collector's heaven, but it doesn't mean the collector who is still seeking more titles is going to get a discount.

Well, no one out there really knows for sure what is going to happen, but if you ask me, I would say start buying whatever you need now, because my guess is, without any more sequels coming, the value of let's say Metal Slug 3 will remain constant as the demand is constant. That is, people are less likely to dump their Metal Slug 3 if they know part 4 isn't coming out. This is just an example, so don't take it figuratively.

Good luck to all new collectors. It's time to shop. Okay, who has King of the Monster MVS kit for sale? I need this one guys. Seriously.

cart prices aint going up. the fact that snk is going bankrupt means nothing. its not like the carts are any more rare now just because SNK is closing its doors.

Is this a fact or an opinion? Time will prove all of our opinions. Don't you want those NGF carts of yours to go up in value? I have nothing against NGF, really, because I've never dealt with them personally, so I have no opinion.

There's a good point about the prices not changing. The only people responsible for the price increase are the collectors. But since the number of carts hasn't really changed when SNK was in business doesn't mean that the prices should sky rocket. It all depends on the collector's, IMO.
