Preliminary artwork for English Sengoku 3 arrived today. The insert is red striped and loaded with detail. Quite possibly the most detailed English insert to date. Does not appear to be cropped this time around.

The back of the insert uses a wallpaper of 28 screenshots in an artistic way. Has a fire border, it appears to be on fire. Plenty of “English” text decorates this insert. In fact, it does not appear to have any room left to squeeze in additional text or pictures.

The art proofs provided by SNK are too large to scan. I requested a picture of the insert to be provided for customer preview, one that is of similar format to the US MS3 art that was provided.

Also, the English Sengoku 3 manual was provided. It is full color and detailed with English text pertaining to Senogku 3. The manual was disassembled and pages were scanned. The release date is October 25th. No delay is expected.

Wow, I'm impressed - looks fantastic!!

If I hadn't already preordered the game from NCS, I'd definitely be picking up a U.S. copy from your store.

Ah well... if I can swing it, I might still try to anyway.

BTW, any word on whether or not the Japanese cart will have full color artwork for the manual?

Damn. Looks good. Almost as if there may be some useful info in a manual for once.

These carts come directly from Osaka, SNK headquarters, and can even be drop shipped from Osaka to one's doorstep if the order has a high enough unit count. Apple is not making these.

olddon, if you really must know, do a search instead of opening up that topic in this one. The purpose of this thread is to discuss the artwork, not how everyone feels about the authenticity or lack thereof.

Quite right Matt. Olddon was Chris Mullins Ebay ID, he sold many MVS carts and other stuff under that ID. So this would be either Chris, or some person masquerading as him. I seriously doubt it would be Mullins after the terrible reputation he had leaving this hobby . . .

No confirmation on the Japanese Sengoku 3 manual. The Neo Store did not order any Japanese copies, only English. It’s quite likely that both manual versions will be full color. Considering SNK is producing both the Japanese & the English release of Sengoku 3, and releasing at the exact same time, this would be a safe assumption.

The application of the gold warning label for the cartridge is confirmed. This means that it should be applied, not that it will. Only upon delivery & inspection will full confirmation of the application be established.

I assure you, SNK of Japan produced Metal Slug 3 and is currently producing Sengoku 3 in both Japanese & English version. Apple’s involvement is on a corporate level, not a production level. Every invoice, shipping label, fax, & email point to SNK of Japan in Osaka. The existence of proof that anyone, other than US customs in Alaska (west coast, not east), held or saw a finished insert, manual, or cartridge of English Metal Slug 3 before reaching Memphis, TN does not exist.

This is great. I am getting both the JPN and US versions. I hope the bankruptcy reports are exaggerated and this is not the last AES release we see from SNK.

Shawn,

Quick question:

Why do the pages of the manual, if put together, seem to make the booklet read backwards? Is it because, since it was a preliminary/proto printed in Japan, they printed it in the normal way they read -from the right to left?

The English manual does not appear to read backwards, seems westernized to me. Definitely a proto/beta type manual though. Certain pages have sticker corrections. Notice the white border from SELECT BUTTON to START BUTTON on page 4: http://www.neo-geo.com/snk/sengoku3/manual/s3man-2.jpg
This is actually a sticker that probably contains the most recent revision.

Also, the pages of the manual were not stapled, they were bound by a thin rubber band at the fold. This piece of history will be going into the heaviest chest in my neo treasure room.

For those of you that are wondering, the manual also contained the Epilepsy Warning page. This page creates 4 separate pages when folded to count front and back. English, French, Spanish, & German for each corresponding page.

It looks nice, but I'm sticking with my NCS pre-order for the JPN version.

I emailed NCS on this topic and they said they would be carrying the English version as well, so maybe you can switch from jap to English. On the contrary, since Shawn is the exclusive distributor of the English version and the Neostore says 466 copies left as of now, NCS didn`t seem to have made any efforts purchasing US copies yet. Somehow strange.

Yowzas, when did shipping prices jump so high? Including the "fee", it costs $10 to ship a Neo game by USPS?

Wow - the manual looks neat, I hope the jpn one will look similar (or better ).

As nice as the US manual might be, the ugly gray borders of the cover still remain - imho a major flaw in the design of the US covers...
