It's always been there. It's just a secret. On level 2, while you are going up, if you turn to your right you will see the cat statues. The jump is trickey (you may die a couple times) but you jump on the the head of the statue and then jump to the next one where the lamp with the genie is. This was also in MS2 if I recall correctly.
