NeoNews has been updated at The Gamer's Glossary!

In this edition, Kyo2000 presents an article on NeoGeo collecting, as well as a nod to the NeoStore that Shawn doesn't need.

Wrong section buddy. If you look at the left of my site, there's a link for "Neo News".

The "News" section is for news ONLY about the site itself. Sorry for the confusion.

"""ROM haters: Some people boil over at the mere mention of ROMs. To those, we have a question - Do you now, or have you ever worked in the games industry? If the answer is no, then ROMs are no threat to you, please take a nap, wake up, and get a life."""

Ignorance is bliss, eh?

So in your little "world" anyone who hasn't been in a certain industry has no idea what in the world they are talking about it?

Well with that statement you just blew the leg off every historian who ever wrote about a past event, or something that they weren't actually participating in. Sure they weren't there, but that doesn't mean they don't know what they are talking about.

Just so, I don't see it as anything negative for consumers to be worried about the welfare of a company. Or even just those who "Care" that illegalities are happening everywhere.

"""then ROMs are no threat to you, please take a nap, wake up, and get a life."""

ROMS are a threat to any gamer who actually follows the rules. Just because you might choose not to see the effects doesn't mean that they don't exist.

If you want discuss ROMs check out this link.

Gerken has missed the point, an obvious symptom of having not read the article very well.

:D Whether or not you had another point to make, you attempted to make one about ROMS. Thats the one I took note of. There are actually 3 things any speaker or writer has to think about.

1. What they think they wrote.
2. What they actually wrote
3. And what the reader read

Well... even if I didn't come away thinking like you, I still picked up a point that you did type about, like it or not.

Keep in mind, Gerken, I was only discussing NeoGeo, ROMs included. The point that I was attempting to make is that ROMs only hurt a game that has not yet sold through it's run of stock. Also, that people coming apart over ROMs need to find a better cause to fight. :D Their energy would be much better served elsewhere!

And for the record, I've never owned an illegal NeoGeo ROM. I've never used NeoRage, never owned a burned NeoCD. I want my artwork with my CDs, and I don't toy around with emulators, it's nowhere near as good as the real thing.

Coming apart? :D Not quite. I realize that when fighting the ROM wars there may be no visible progress at all, but typically the affects of what are done may never be realized until far after the fact, but it will have affected someone. If it even makes you sit and ponder for 2 seconds because someone said it was wrong, this is a step in the right direction.

"""Their energy would be much better served elsewhere!"""

LOL What do you suggest? :)

You know that made so much sense it's scary. Very very nice read my friend. It's nice to see people with similar views around here.

I'm not so sure on the NGF stuff but at this point I don't care as much cause I'm not into the AES side of the neo. But the ROM stuff is on the money and I'm in the MVS side of the Neo and I don't know if i'm going to be collecting them anymore as there aren't many new games I'm that gaga over. Oh well we'll just have to see.

Peace

 You just had to ask! I was referring to just doing something positive with one's life, nothing more.

If fighting for whats right isn't positive, then there must be something wrong with the whole world. ;)

Thanks for the positive response. I'd considered putting those thoughts down on paper for a while, and today I just went through with it.
I don't blame you for collecting MVS, I think that seeing AES stuff in magazines 12 years ago made me long for a homecart collection.
Glad to see that I'm not the only one thinking the way I'm thinking!

Well seeing as how you posted this in another thread, in your pathetic attempt to increase hits on your lame website, I'll just cut/paste my response in that thread about your "quality" NeoNews "article":

BWAHAHAHA, that is the some of the WORST WRITTEN crap I have ever seen!! You switch between singular and plural as the subject constantly ("We", as if you are a "staff" member writing for your lame site, and "Kyo 2000") and speak of yourself in the third party, as if you're some kind of great personality. And besides the fact that it is poorly written, you ramble on pretty badly. I think you might want to re-think your career objectives, because your writing style pretty much SUCKS. Plus, your ego is quite inflated as well (and for what reason, I can't see).

Chimpmeister, it's not about post count. It's about some things I had on my mind. And the other place I posted this, was a direct link, which does nothing for post count. Thanks again for the guestbook signature though.
