I don't know how many of you check the MMCafe Bulletin Boards, but somebody there posted their impression of the ROTD game. This is different from the one that was posted about a week and a half ago.

They said that the animation was pretty choppy despite what the videos available show and that the special moves are all copies of stuff we've seen before. Overall, they said that it wasn't bad.. it just wasn't good :( .

Oh well, it's just one person's first impression based on a single play, so take it with a grain of salt. I'm still hoping for the best.

Yeah...time will tell. Just think of all the negative and posotive stuff said about FFXI...it's either the greatest game ever or a pile of stinky shit. Who knows?

Can any professional release for the Neo Geo be considered "bad" @ this stage of it's life, 12 years later?

I wonder if the above is considered before criticisms...The great thing about SNK games is for me is that titles tend to have different areas of strength....
bad graphics? okay great gameplay? okay.

EXACTLY..I'm not stating there should be no criticisms but who believed we would be here in
Neo Geo "center city"(this BBS) talking about new professionally made releases for a 12 year old console.
Year 2002. TOP NOTCH "active" BBS and three new releases the 1st quarter. SvsC may be on the horizon too...
noone called this..

IMO and your also I think NEO was so advance system that is still alive after 12 years of existence.

yes, it's true. people often forget that neo is that old when my friends see new kof2001. they more care about polygons than gameplay.

a legend never die.

and people, do not compare what it can't be compared.

I love you - my neo, and thanks SNK for the great playtime you gaved me. it's not finished yet...

3D Based Polygon games a quite great on a PC with a Ti500 or a New Ti4600, Max Payne, Serious Sam 2, but Nothing can compare to the art of a true 2D gaming Style. It's almost dead, but I'll support it untill the end.

Proud of you SNK.

I wouldn't be surprised, this game looks cool, but it's a total MOTWs clone. It looks like the same character designer did it.

The video already showed some copied moves (pepe seems to be a Dong Hwan copy) but I give a shit.

It´s bought, and I am sure it will play just fine!

I think it looks cool so far - maybe it is a bit of a MotW clone, but that's not necessarily a bad thing is it? :) Plus it has the tag feature, which so far is one of the things I'm looking forward to most. I know some people that tested it said that the game seems unbalanced etc, but there is still time for it to be fixed... I'm sure it will at least be a decent game anyway.

Also - anyone else think that the music kicks ass from what we have heard so far? I was beginning to lose faith in the music on Neo Geo games after KOF 2001, but RotD sounds great imo! :D

I like this game because it's possibly the 2nd fighting game to have an Irish character. :D (The first maybe being KOF'99 Krizalid)

Plus, he's an exorcist. :)

You forget Nina and Anna Williams from Tekken - they are Irish :)

Dunno if there have been any other Irish fighters in 2d games though... unless someone knows better :D

argh no not a scottish character... don't misunderstand me, it would be cool and all - but every time I think of Scottish fighters in beat em ups it reminds me of Angus from Kasumi Ninja on the jag... and the way he did his fireballs. If you played the game, you'll know what I mean :)

Let's just say it disturbed me.. fireballs coming from WHERE exactly??? <img src="graemlins/multi.gif" border="0" alt="[Multi Color Bouncey]" />

Hey Kazuya, you know your shit :p
I thought of the exact same thing.

Here's a screenie for the uncorrupted:

There's other Scots in fighting games though.
McKreig From Cardinal Syn, Kayin From Battle Arena Toshinden, Capcom's Morrigan... I guess that makes Lilith Scottish too.

Nah, A fought of some serious stuff. Besides not all scots wear skirts all the time, I think. But the scottish accent would sound nice.
