I just went to <a href="http://www.emuchile.net" target="_blank">www.emuchile.net</a> (the site from Chile that promised to host MS4, I think they already had KoF 2001) and it's DEAD, KAPUT <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[LOL]" />
I was literally wiped out by a dozen of pop-ups upon entering, and then the main page says (in Spanish but that's no prob for me :) )that their server has deleted all the roms there.

Well, we can breath now. Looks like the menace of the rom release of MS4 is more unlikely now. In any case there were the encriptation matters anyway. There's still hope. If we are lucky enough nobody will be able to dump the MS4 rom, or nobody will host it. As I said emuchile planned to host it as soon as it was released (as far as I know they already did with Kof 2001) although some other rom sites had the common sense enough to refuse to host such new Neo Geo games.

Grandes noticias Amano!

Sorry to break it to you but I doubt this will stop them for long. For every site like this, there are 10 standing on the side to take its place. KOF2K1 took how long? MS4 might be a little longer, but I doubt it will take more than 6 months to a year after its release to hit the internet.

Who cares really anyway...if you enjoy spending money on your collection than forgetaboutit. Rom users are slaves to their computers.

Hey! Not that fast!
I know that almost all people here don't like the emu scene. Though, I am also a Neo Geo Collector and I like also the emu scene. And for those who don't like it, sad but true : The Emu scene can only die when there will nothing more left to emulate.

SO DO LIKE ME: Collect while you can, if you can't... You still can relax front of your PC Monitor. At least you can play your famous "Euro" Kizuna! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[LOL]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[LOL]" />

Hey! Peace. <img src="graemlins/mrt2.gif" border="0" alt="[Mr T]" />

Some other site will host it. Any respectable rom site wont host if for a year though.

The Metal Slug 4 Roms will be out within a month. The same guy who dumped the KOF 2001 Beta Rom, also owns a Metal Slug 4 Beta Cart.

The sad truth is that emulation will always have a presence on the Internet. We can complain all we want, but it will change nothing. There will always be someone -- somewhere out there -- that will be capable and willing to decrypt protected games like MS4, and release it to the public. I don't condone emulation, and I believe people should pay for their software, but that is my opinion, and my opinion alone. Emulation can benefit the industry because it preserves older technology (i.e. Vectrex, etc.), but it shouldn't be used to pirate new releases. I look at it from this perspective: if SNK / Playmore intended for MS4 to be free, it wouldn't come with a price tag.

Well, encryption has been broken for some time now, and source to decrypt is available within MAME source code. It's almost complete, only miss a few values in 2 xor tables.

Dump ROMs with an eprom programmer, then write a program to decrypt them (95% of code already writen in MAME)...

That's pretty easy, unless encryption tables changed someone used to these methods could do the job in one day...

Encryption is broken time for a new protection... <img src="graemlins/shame.gif" border="0" alt="[Shame]" />

ok heres the dillio... First off I can't believe I said 'Dillio' second off theres a code among the official mame programmers... mostly they won't emu a game till its atleast a year old... that way it can make its run through the arcades... my local arcade got MS3 not too long after it was released... in two months time it was gone... I was quite upset... but then when I heard it would be emu'd (eventually) I was semi happy. emulation keeps games alive... so I support emulating games but not before they are even released. and yes I will go play MS4 MANY MANY MANY times in the arcade... if my local gets it and keeps it for more than 2 months...

Right, well a site is down and will not host the ROMs. Goodie. There are about 500 different sites or people who will distribute the ROM when it is dumped.

And you don't have to wait for the MAME people to support it, someone will hack the ROMs to work on NeoRageX just like KOF2k1. It's not hard to do.

There is a way to stop all this, but I'll post that soon enough...

Peace

Well, I've just been to emuchile again and there it just says they are looking for a new server that accepts to host their roms, but they've haven't found it yet. BSAguy, I don't know what you say they're back.
