Unfortunately the Rage of the Dragons ROM is available on many sites (thanks god here is not), it´s a shame that this title has not more than a half year on the market and now is on the net. <img src="graemlins/eek2.gif" border="0" alt="[Eek 2]" />

Piracy is something that I hate, actually I lost my job for those china guys... <img src="graemlins/veryangry.gif" border="0" alt="[Very Angry]" />

with--maybe ROMs and fun but in the other hand no more new games.

I don't think so. Most people argue that someone who use NG roms on emu would never buy a cartridge for some hundred 100USD. But you must keep in mind that not only the NG dartridges exist also ports for many games and the emus harm this sales.

Emulation is a grey area and the only way most fot ehm get away with it we are talking MAME here) is that they claim it is a documantation project for games youcan no longer play. kind of ok depending on your point of view but as far as i am cnserned if these people want to claim legitimacy they sghould block emualtion of stuff that is newer then 4-5 years old, Dumping a game that is less than 6 months old is just plain evil, it's not for preservation it's just for freeloading.

If you mean the very high initial price of the MVS cart upon release...Yes I think that they actually take into consideration how long it will be before the game gets bootlegged & dumped on the net.

But he's half right. Most of the carts producted were sold. And the rom isnt really going to make sales drop seeing as there arent many carts left to buy. People who only play roms of games wont even consider buying a game, but, for people that do buy carts, buying a bootleg game actually hurts Evogas sales because that money could have gone to them.

On a side note, Fygee, dude, how the hell have you been? It's been almost a year since we last spoke (SnappleMan).

You should only have a rom if you own the original cart or CD. Otherwise it's stealing.

Yup, that's exactly the point I was trying to make. Only it was late and I couldn't find the words in my head suitable enough to say it.

I can't really justify the use of roms because it is used illegaly by most people, there's no denying it. Its just that its the only feesible alternative I have to playing these games, along with many others out there. Hell, if it wasn't for roms in the first place, I never would've been reintroduced to the wonders of SNK and purchased the ports and memoriblia I have. So in the end, they made money from me they wouldn't have otherwise.

It just makes me upset that people believe that roms are just as bad as bootlegging, when its not true. Roms hurt a little, but bootlegged carts are what truly hurt SNK/Playmore.

yeah, it really piss off those f..... bootlegers from oriental market, at this rate the arcade market will collapse completly and nowbody will make more games, while those f..... will keep making money by doing piracy on some other field.

Well, I haven't been up on the MAME build lately, but from my contact with the project, they won't enable it to be emulated until 2 years after release. (At least that's what it was a while ago.)

Still, I'm sure you can use it with NeoRageX or Kawaks.

At least there's a little deterrent.

I'm pissed about it, because some idiot is getting for free what I'm tossing money aside to save for.

MAME still has the 2 year rule, but people just compile their own versions from the source code in order to support the newer games. Kawaks doesn't support KOF 2001 or Metal Slug 4 either, but there are user hacked versions of the emu that allow them to be played. Nebula has both games and ROTD locked out of version 2.20, but they're still playable in earler versions.
