The game's strong suits are without a doubt the combo system that has been designed and implemented as close to perfection as a human can create. In fact, I'll go as far to say that if KOF2K2 implemented the same combo system it will without a doubt be the best fighter in history.

You know going to say something I haven't said in ages.
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SMOKING AND CAN I HAVE SOME OF IT?!?!?!?!?
Dear god an opinion is all good but fucking hell man that's gotta be one of the most arrogant fucking posts I have seen on NG.com in ages.
Jesus shit man you need to learn to be more objective in your comments. This is just asking for some serious bashing from people who actually play fighting games enough to point out ROTD's game engine flaws...
Ugh I like the game well enough but I'm not fucking jerking off my cock all over it...

Here we go again... Actually I don't know why I'm writing this at all... Guess I have spent too much time on Philantropy Belfry...
Everybody's entitled to his/her opinion, no doubt about that... but still... In an other thread, you wrote that you would play Neo games since 1990, but the more I read your rants about RotD being the best invention since sliced bread, the less I can't help but thinking that you didn't play the older Neo games thoroughly enough.
I wouldn't say it's a shit game, but its engine is flawed and blunt, and most of the backgrounds, as well as the menu system, look dull and rushed.
RotD's engine is unbelieveably easy to get into; even some of my fighting game-hating buddies managed to pull off 15-hit combos after a few minutes. This is good for n00bs, but offers a lot of scrubbing potential since the overall depth of the engine is very limited; it's fun-based, not skill-based, that's what I've found out after three weeks of lots and lots of RotD playing.

Yeah.
Spyder-guy confuses opinions and facts. It's a friggin' FACT that RotD is sub-par compared to all the Neo goodness like KoF98 or RBFF.
"as close to perfection as human can create"... if that wouldn't have been posted by Spyder-guy, it could have been the most sarcastic line ever.
Hey Spyder, what about a RotD review, written by yourself? I'm sure Bobak would be utterly pleased to put it online, so that even more ppl can read your carefully considered opinions! <img src="graemlins/drool.gif" border="0" alt="[Drool]" />

I swear I laughed out load when he said "as close to perfection as human can create"
I swear he's either drunk or a fake account here by someone who is spanking this game way too much.

Well, here's one person who disagrees.
ROTD is not the best game out there, but it's far from being the worse fighter. With the exception of the final boss (who definitely ranks as being one of the worst made), the game is actually really good.
Things I like about the game:
1. Damage Control - With damage at a basic minimum in most instances, matches do have a tendency to last for a while. None of these countless number of infinites or quick 100% combo kills, like in other tag battles like MvC2.
2. The Tag System - You just can't sit there and tag in and out your characters all day... nor would you be able to do a tag team super for a few moments right after you switch characters.
3. Surrendering your partner - A nice concept... something different that usually isn't in most fighting games. Maybe not one tactic that people will use regularly, but it does have a point if used correctly.
4. Character concepts - Alice is a cool character to use and play against... and the fact that most teams (except for one) are co-ed. That's something different.
There ARE some problems with the game, however... the combo system is good, but could be a LOT better. It seems that after you do a CD launch, you're forced to do the same 5-hit chain combo for that particular character before you can 2-in-1 into a regular move, special or Tag Team Super. A combo system needs to have a little more freedom than this... why not allow someone to create their own custom 5-hit chain, or just disregard it altogether and do something else? The game could benefit from more animation as well... it would run more fluidly, and bosses like Johann wouldn't seem so unbeatable.
Plus, more team possibilities. When you play the CPU, the computer sticks to "united teams" and doesn't mix it up. This gets rather boring, as you can prepare your matches against the CPU easier than if the selection was at random (aka KOF '96).
I could go on with more praises and critiques, but Rage Of The Dragon is NOT a bad game. Certainly not the best, but from a person that has played all KOFs, FF, AOF, SS, SF and many other lesser known 2D fighters, it's certainly NOT the worst.
