Agreed. Although I think its good that MS3 is coming to ANY home console, the PS2's weak 4MB of VRAM plus other poor features will most likely make this game CHOKE . . . I'll wait and see. Plus it would be nice to get an English version, if the port is half decent then it may actually come over here (and to Europe as well).

Yeah...with the mind-blowing 4 Megs (WHAT THE HELL WAS SONY THINKING!!!) of ram...I don't know how well the PS2 port will be ...but either way...I'll still be getting it for my JPN PS2

anyway the port will be fine. It'll handle it.
Direct ROM access is the only thing which gives the neo its 'power'.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Yes, but all graphics have to be transferred from ROM to -> VRAM in order to be displayed and therefore the VRAM is no problem for a NG port and with the more RAM compared to a DC everything should be fine
About the resolution, many games are running in 320x224 and therfore it is possible that if the PS2 does not support this videomode you have some black bars on screen (for e.g Garou)

Can't you all just be happy that Playmore will make more money? I mean if a game is released on PS2 in Japan it's practically gauranteed to sell more copies than any of the recent AES/MVS versions ahve sold. So Playmore/SNK gets more money to make more games, be it on the Neo or not, more games from them is a good thing IMO.

True true, I think we all love to see Playmore succeed and continue to pump out quality Neo Geo games.
having said that, I just have my doubts about the port to PS2. No disrespect to the system, but MS hasn't been ported very well to other system (even the Saturn rev of MS1 isn't that great IMO). Maybe it will be perfect, maybe not. We will know soon enough.

Some of you guys should stop badmouthing the PS2's capabilities as the hardware itself is not that bad.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Does the PS2 have any 2D functions like multiple background layers, sprite handling and so on, or can the VRAM only be used as a frame buffer in 2D?

Look at GGX, GGXX, and CvS2, the system can obviously handle more 2D than any Neo game could ever hope to throw at it.
