OK, I know some of you don't like to discuss about TEH ROMZZ but in this case I think this is worth the general attention.

Well, there have surfaced some screenshots of the game that look to be obtained through emulation:

<img src="http://www.neogeo-world.com/imagesnews/ghostlop/22834.gif" alt=" - " />

<img src="http://www.neogeo-world.com/imagesnews/ghostlop/22831.gif" alt=" - " />

<a href="http://www.neogeo-world.com/index.php" target="_blank">http://www.neogeo-world.com/index.php</a>

(check the news in this French site)

which says:

Les images viennent d'une source anonyme, je respecterais donc son anonymat car c'est son choix comme dirais Evelyne Thomas ! Et je tiens a preciser que nous n'avons pas la rom, donc inutile de nous faire des request !
Basically it means that the shots come from an anonymous source, and that they don't have the rom so please don't request it.

So well... does anybody know something else? I'm not going to start begging for the rom, but I just want to point out that it should be made public so that way everybody can enjoy this fine game.

Yeah, that's what I guessed, but anyway what this proofs is that the game has ACTUALLY been dumped, so the rom is somewhere inside a hard disc. We already saw pics and even videos from the actual gameplay in real hardware, no big deal in just showing some new shots, there's nothing intrinsically in them we still hadn't seen.

the fact that the game was dumped don't necessarily mean that everybody could request and got the rom ! The guy gave me some pics to show how the game looks great, nothing else and don't expect him to release it ! I think u'll have to ask someone else who own this rare cart to dump it ! wink

Yeah, I got that, as I said this just proves there's somebody out there selfish enough to have the rom just for him. As I said I'm not going to beg anybody for it. It looks like he isn't going to release it because in that acase he could already have done so.
Oh well, time will tell, and if we can just play any other game out there.

Interesting... does that mean there are multiples of this cart... or Billy sold it to someone in France? Well, good screenshots none the less, should add these to the screen shot section here and get the terrible video rip images out of there!

Well, at least the game is dumped. Now its possible to repair the cart if its dameged or destroyed.

Anyway, who dumped it should release the roms, just in case something happens to his hard drive. glee

someone said a long time ago that it would be dumped because it won't be released...

One thing is dump kof2002 the day before it's release and another thing very different is upload the rom of a 7 year-old proto...

the cart will still be valuable and people should have the right to play it that otherwise is impossible to play

Ok then heres a serious question to think about. If you had a Rom of an ultra rare game and knew that you were the only one with this rom, would you give it out to everyone?

Yes, yes, and yes. By this order. Tell me a SINGLE reason not to do so.

Read my post again... the cart will still be priceless. Because it's the only known copy.

And it won't hurt SNK nor Data East (specially now they have dissapeared)

Keep the cart for personal use and say "Hey... Fuck you! it's mine and you can't play. I can!" is just selfish

What if the Sonic X-treme disc from E3 appeared. Should it dissapear under the dust in a forgotten box in some creepy garage?

As soon as people found the Sonic X-treme sprites they were uploaded onto the web because it was a "public benefit"

As I said a long time ago someone said that found proto's should be dumped and distributed as roms for "public benefit"... if i remember correctly the person who said that was the same who sold the cart...

Could you spell hypocresy? I don't know how...

Know a little bit of History...

Here in spain there are a caves known as Altamira's Caves. Those caves are know because they have paints from cavemen of thounsands and thousands years ago...

The caves were VERY difficult to visit to normal people because the owners wanted to conserve them...

So they have made an EXACT copy (i.e: Teh romz of the caves) so now everybody can enjoy that universal monument and the original is safe...

I hope you see the analogy

While that's a great idea and I'm glad they did that for those archaeological treasures -I am not ready to accept that analogy to video game ROMs, they are distinguishable.

The producers of that game have every right to hold on to their copy until they choose to release it or not (oh, and there will always be a copy with the creators of the game). Take Zupapa as an example of this "hold and release" action.

Even if the original developer is out of business, I almost guarentee some company bought the rights to all the game-copyrights in their possession. So the game belongs to someone until the copyright runs out, oh somewhere in the 2060s.

Some of you might say "well that's not fair, I want it now, and they might not release it." While I feel for that argument, I don't think it outweighs the rights of creators and owners on the other. This is just a video game, not an AIDS vaccine.

I would rather see the real caves. To be in "eh romz" of the caves would feel kind of ... lame.

Sorry, unless you are an archaelogy authority you are not going to see the real caves. They NEED to do that this way in order to preserve them, otherwise they would be lost forever. For regular (sorry, I forgot you don't fall in this category) people that is just curious the copy should be more than enough.

I remember reading a post from that guy Billy or whatever who owns the Ghostlop.I remeber his post saying how good the game is and it should be released and that its so addictive and he cant stop playing it.Do you think he was just saying all that crap cuz hes the only one with the cart or is he forcing himself to like a game that sux.Just like when my brother bought 3do when it came out it was like $799 and the games that he was buying sucked but he forced himself to like these games cuz he paid so much.
Maybe there was a reason Ghostlop was never released, maybe cuz it SUCKS!

That is the best argument I have heard for not releasing the ROMs. All this stuff about how it will devalue the original cart is crap. Any person with half a brain and an internet connection can download Metal Slug. That fact hasn't made the NGH cart any less valuable.
