I guess it is official now, NCS has listed the 1000 minimun worldwide re-production of Metal Slug 3 from SNK. You can pre-order for $268. It also mentioned that SNK is considered re-production of other popular titles if Metal Slug re-pro does well.

Go to their website for more info

I just read the post on that Slug 3 "re-release" and how SNK contacted a private individual with a little email asking for advice. I didn't know whether to laugh at the sheer thought of that happening or to cry at the people who could possibly consider believing it. Wake up people!
First off, NGF-USA is the only official distributor for AES cartridges. For something like this to happen, we would have been contacted to get "our orders in." On top of that, we would have posted it in our "news" section to make it official and for everyone to see and get their orders ready.

The biggest problem with that rumor is the fact that it s for an older game that can still be easily found from many various retailers. SNK is not in the habit of re-releasing or manufacturing older titles. They make their production runs in quantities a little UNDER what they know the current market can absorb. They have teams doing market demographics to determine what games would sell and in what numbers. They don't want to be stuck with overstock, because they have had that happen to them in the past, and it has cost them a lot of money.

If anyone was to contact a retailer or online web master about purchasing some new games or even older "stock," it would be NGF-USA contacting these sites because we (NGF-USA) handle the consumer end of these things. We have contacted many retailers and online people in the past with our other "NOS" stock offers, KoF2000 offers, and the coming NitD release, so people already know what we say s for real and verifiable.

More than likely what happened is that some retailer with an overstock of games was contacted by that said person to buy their stock. We were contacted not too long ago by a retailer down south who had many extra copies of Slug 3 and jap KoF2000s. We turned them down due to the high price they wanted. So, it looks like these other people were happy to buy this stock so they could have a little new found "crump." (crump = hype)

Here are some of the items SNK offered us not long ago:
Neo CD systems (top loading),
Neo Pocket cartridges and systems,
extra stock of manuals, posters, and even epilepsy warning cards,
new cartridge boxes (old and new styles),
NeoGeo mugs, KoF2000 mugs, KoF2000 lighters, Sengoku 3 T-shirts, KoF2000 T-shirts,
Neo control pads, Neo AV cables, Neo power supply cables, etc...

Some items we passed on, and some items we accepted. But SNK never mentioned any "re-release" of older games, and they didn't even offer any "found" old stock. There is no more "stock" of AES cartridges lying around in some SNK back room. In case you forgot, we had already bought all that stock up last year. Here is the link to read about it with pictures to prove it: http://www.neogeofreak.com/stock/ngfstockpics.html

See, we had all the stock and we had pictures to prove it. We are the only NeoGeo distributor for consumer items. Don't let other places try and deceive and manipulate you into giving them some type of fan fair.

It's amazing the lengths some neo club sites and attention seekers will go through to try and gain some respectability. They feel they have to compete with NGF-USA for some reason. Like we said many times, we are not in competition with "fans" and "fan sites." We are just here to distribute, market, and enjoy the NeoGeo games.

Make your judgments carefully about what you read at those other Exchange places.
The main rule to remember is this:
If you didn't read about it from NeoGeoFreak/NGF-USA, then it's not confirmed.

thank you,
Dion

This is great news. I went ahead and reserved a copy eventhough I already have the original one. I know this sounds corny but I feel its our duty to support SNK with this endeavor and ensure their plans for the reproduction are successful.

Wow, this is great news!! It's time for everyone who lamented SNK's position with the Neo to step up and do their part.

If we support SNK with this deal, who knows what carts they may re-release?? Garou anyone? At $800 average value I know there are some people who would love a crack at a $268 rerelease....

Let's all show SNK some love. I'm gonna go preorder mine next payday!

NGF-USA does not take preorders on products that are NOT, and I repeat NOT, going to happen. I am sorry to burst your bubble, but the entire MS3 supposed reproduction is completely false. I ask again, did you see this info in the NeoGeoFreak.com news section? No, this is because this is not something that is going to happen. There is much confusion about MS3 and things upcoming with this title, but a reproduction of the AES cart IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.
Now, does NGF-USA wish SNK Japan was reproducing MS3? Hell yes, we get requests for this game daily, and sell out immediately when we scare up a few pieces. We would love to get a couple hundred for stock purposes. Despite MS3 being a popular title, SNK Japan has NO PLANS to reproduce this title. Furthermore, the talk of reproduction of NGP titles is also false. They do in fact have thousands of each of these titles in stock ALREADY, no reproduction of these titles are required.

This entire thing kind of reminds me of last year when everyone, including the "supposed news site" magic box reported that KOF2k was NOT going to be MVS. NGF-USA stood by this fact as many people questioned. As usual NGF-USA, the official SNK distributor of consumer products in the US, was right on target.

So to get it down for everyone to see:

MS3 AES reproduction is unfortunately false. NGF-USA would have liked to see this happen, but it will not, and was never planned.

There are other plans for MS3.

Thanks,

ChrisR

Even I may consider buying this cart... I don't like Metal Slug too much, but I would play it if I had it in my stable. Seeing pictures of the game again gave me flashbacks to when that game was just announced and all the hysteria behind it.

This is GREAT news from NCS (they are my heroes when it comes to imports and Neo Geo stuff). I'm curious to find out the other NGP stock they could be getting in as well...

BTW... haven't you learned NEVER to believe anything NGF says about "exclusive titles"? <IMG SRC="smilies/glee.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/glee.gif" border="0">

Hey guys, I just received mine. It says that SNK is most likely going to change the packaging to distinguish it from the first run. I'll paste the quote below to show I'm not lying. Cheers amigos.

We are fairly certain that SNK will
mark the reproduction in some way to distinguish it from
the first production but we will update our customers once
we have more details.

I guess this shows Laruent really knows his shit <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">
