NGF vs. Playmore update?

Whats going on? The settlement for the case was done a while ago and normally after something minor in that case happened Bobak had the scoop.

Now they had the settlement, Dion spams the DHP and says that they won (aka their inserts/KOF2k/Zupapa, etc were legit) and we've got nothing from the court documents (or where ever you get the news from)?

What actually happened?

Playmore takes of their collective mega hat and throws it on the ground, and procceded to stomp on it.

playmore bought back all the rights,artwork, etc that Chris and Dion had that they used for thier inserts, etc since they do not want the inserts made available anymore.
aparently there were no infringments before hand because ngf DID own the rights to the the artwork that they used in thier "corrected" inserts and was given permission by snk to use them in that manner.
aparently one of the stipulations of the settlement was that playmore would put up a page on thier site saying that ngf's corrected inserts were official products that had been given the green light by SNK USA.

that is mostly what I can remember. I also heard that world wide video and arcade infinity had to pay a fine of a few thousand dollars each.

remember, this is just what i have heard. I am not supporting anyone party. any of the above info can be incorrect so please keep that in mind.

No offence Orph, but yuor source is who we know it is....and it sound's like a crock of shit.

And as EW mentioned, GANRYU is another example of NGF using copywrited art and then claiming they obtained those rights via the awlays sketchy "I know some one who knows someone" excuse.

Sorry, I'll wait for the official word from Bobak translating the court info.

well, I just erased all my previous posts.
I decided it was best since i have been all about keeping the ngf oriented flames off this board as much as possible. if any of you want the info I had posted it is pretty easy to find online. I just could care less about all of this. Thanks.

I am not so sure that going after companies like arcade infinity (a company that helps with the after-mvs market) was a good idea at all. now that they alieneated a large part of the market it would be nice to see them concentrate on some quality products like most companies do.

Ganryu was pure and simple criminal. Also look at the home made inserts they sold such as Metal Slug X. You cannot fool yourself into thinking that was ever legit. Remember also Dion's homemade KoF 99 inserts that he supposedly got as "merchant copies" or some shit.

Playmore would know if NGF had that many "licenses" - and if they knew, they wouldn't have acted in this manner. Or put it this way, if any of us knew that another company had license to use our work, we wouldn't press charges against them. Waste of time. Moreover, Playmore being SNK, the management would definitely know.

Good to know you're still on the job, I'd actually like to know what really went down.

One more thing to remember: sometimes the law requires a settlement conference -or other times people request one as a delay tactic without saying so. Regardless, Playmore clearly has an advantage financially and with the lions share of evidence (i.e. NGF's best arguement is for KOF2k US, while Playmore's best evidence is every single other game NGF ever produced) be the one to determine when aettlement occurs and whether the amount is acceptible.

No one should be surprised if there is no settlement and the case just keeps going. If it does keep going, we may not hear anything for a while after the docket is available.
