Actually, Geese lives in South Town. Apparently the town declared independence and now, only the strong will survive.

Geese was actually murdered a few years back by a homeless person. It was in 95. That was the year we lost a great leader.

Geeses rumoured homosexual son, Rock, was beleived to be abducted by said killer homeless man.

Hey Blue Mary Mania 8, I used to live in New Orleans for 7 years. I went to Jesuit high school. I lived in Metairie and in the East while I was there. There's not a lot of neo gamers in NO. Do you know the store Warp Zone? I bought my AES from them years ago. The store has since closed. Anyway what do you have and do you know othe people in the city that's really into the neo. Shapermc who posts here lives in New Orleans, uptown I believe.

I live in Old Metairie, as opposed to the Fat Town area. Gametrader has control over the whole city. There are no more small scale stores that I know of, and GameTraitors suck!

That is rad cool I would dig meeting anyone around here with half a brain-

Tell me about it. Ever since I left NO, I have lived in the Bay Area and now am in the Twin Cities and I've come to realize how ghetto a city New Orleans is when I moved out. Yeah!! I really didn't think there was anyone in the city who was into the neo back then when I was living there.

Im form the Northshore and go th the city quite often looking for arcades but sadly most have gone the DDR route and have very little to offer so I decided to build my own cab.

If you ever want to get together and hit up some arcades in the area let me know.

It wasnt till recently that I even knew of one person in the state of Louisiana that had ever heard of SNK let alone played a Neo until I saw a guy at work playing Samurai Showdown 4 on a PC in the break room.

I had the same feeling as you. I really didn't think there was a neo geo "scene" in Louisiana. When I was living there, other than the AES system at Warp Zone which used to be in Kenner and has since closed, I thought I was the only one in New Orleans with a Neo Geo home system. That was years ago, until I went to this BBS and found there to be several board members from the state. BTW, where is the Gametrader located.

I'm from New Orleans, Belle Chasse to be exact. Though I don't currently reside there, I take any chance I can to go back and visit. Haha, you say Louisiana is a shitty place now, but when you have to move somewhere even worse (Kentucky) then you learn how great of a place it really is.

Well originally coming from Detroit Michigan, I can say that New Orleans probably isn't the biggest sleazehole on earth, but it is damn near close. Between swiss-cheese roads, infests of west nile mesquitos, man-eating nutria rats, serial killers, drunken hip-hop retards, and tourists (shudder); one can only seem to contemplate self-termination, but then there is your trusty Neo...

Anywho...

Would love to play some games with anyone in the area.

There are 2 Game(traitor) stores in the area, one in the Clearview Mall on Vets, and one in the Esplanade Mall in Kenner. I shoudln't be so hard on them (as they have the guts to buy/sell vintage games and systems), but when they sell loose NES carts with crayon marks on them for $10 plus, there is only one word that comes to mind "criminal."

By the sound of it (vintage games and systems), it seems like Game(traitor)'s an indie store. WOWWWW! I didn't think there were those kinds of video game stores in New Orleans anymore outside of your mainstream stores (EB, Babbage's) I haven't been there in a couple of years so I guess the video game scene is growing down there. Is that the case???

A vintage gamers scene, ...not really. The people that work there seem to be somewhat into vintage games, while some of them have no idea what a cartridge is. I think they just buy people's collections and periodically ebay them, with an occasional customer who comes in there to get something old and allow him/herself to be raped nice and good for instant game classic syndrome. They thrive off buying PS2 games that are fun for about 1/2 a day for pocket change and regurgitating them onto some other unsuspecting PS2 lackie.

Think that's pretty much how it works. But man, O man, do they have alot of NES games, loose carts, with markings on them, and they put price tags on them too. Heresy I tell you-
