!Arcade! Strikers accually a sac release?

Read this for what it's worth, It's a post by Chris Ray from NGF's BBS:

"In regard to the Strikers, there is no possible way to reproduce the ROM chips without a run of 2000 and a cost in the 100's of thousands. They are only releasing 20 of these carts due to sac cart restraints. In a recent email to Cosmicco, a HK dealer in MVS titles, I was told they sold a quantity of Strikers to a company in Canada, so make your own conclusions. Actually the ROM chips and plastic casing would be the only reliable items this AES cart would have. The remanufactured boardsets and remounted SMT chips are of not up to the quality of an original AES cartridge. Now, how they can bill this AES cart as "new" is beyond NGF-USA."

His points seem valid about the 2000 limit thing, and if it's true the company in Canada that ordered a bulk of MVS Strikers carts is !Arcade! then this looks to be nothing but a sac release. Who thinks it's true?

When I stop and think about it, !Arcade! would be losing tons of money if he only makes the rumored 40 or so carts, a run well above that would need to be made (Say in the 1,000's) if these are indeed ALL custom made parts from scratch.

So I could see how he could release under 100, if they were just made from scavenging parts, like the MVS sac. Does this seem possible to anyone else?

Well, since when does NGF have a problem with SAC carts? That IS their specialty isnt it?

"In a recent email to Cosmicco, a HK dealer in MVS titles, I was told they sold a quantity of Strikers to a company in Canada, so make your own conclusions."

Why would Cosmico tell him about who they sell their carts to?

About the rest - only the owner of one of those carts can answer that. Shawn- do you have a copy you have inspected?

Cosmico has refused in the past to divulge that kind of information.

If I remeber correctly,
Chris also (with many others) Doubted they could make the convertor.

Just because they could not do it, doesnt mean someone esle couldn't.

Thats all just speculation IMO.

For the facts, will just have to wait & see.

Can you smell that? Take a deep breath now. Its fear. NGF has comptetition and the only way they can handle it is throwing shit around. Why not improve your business practices, NGF? Improve your image rather than whine and whine.

This is silly. !Arcade! is a great little company and NGF is just jealous.

Since when have we taken anything Chris Ray has said as TRUTH? If he said the sky was blue, I would be inclined to go check and make sure it had not recently turned green. As for whether or not they use sac carts or not, I am sure we will hear either way as soon as someone gets their copy.

I am just wondering why they said MVS chips on custom boards would be unreliable. If the soldiering and PCB board was done professionally it would be just as good as the real thing... And a lot more reliable then a "wired" or EPROM cart.

I totaly agree with nruva. Looking at the !Arcade! convertor which is profesionally made comparing to other convertors and it works 100 %, I would expect the same of their home cart releases. The only thing why NGF is throwing shit around is because they see a major threat to their Strikers 1945 (which they sell for 1200 $ if i'm not mistaken) and their future high priced title releases. "Big Tymer" games becoming affordable for every Neo Geo collector and player. NGF's grasp on the unreleased games market is slipping away, which can never be a bad thing happening to the Neo Geo scene.
All thanks to !Arcade!

I wonder how NGF's $1100 strikers is going to compete against !Arcade!'s $400 version of it? NGF might have to knock $700 off their price.

Why? Their price was never based on facts or wants or competition.

They charge whatever they feel like.

Even if the !Arcade! Strikers 1945 Plus cart is made using the MVS cart as a sac, the important thing to remember is that it doesn't require several HOME carts to be sacced as well. Personally I have no problem with using the MVS as a sac for the home. There were plenty of Strikers 1945 Plus MVS carts made, they're quite plentiful now, so its not as if all the MVS versions will disappear.

As for the quality of their conversion, I would venture a guess that it will be leagues better than the sloppy solder jobs that Chris does . . . based on the Strikers 1945 Plus that Shawn got, that didn't work properly and was shown to be a complete mess inside (blobs of solder all over the place). . .

My guess:
-MVS chips from MVS carts.
-Custom BOARDS so no AES sac carts.
-Best conversion job we have seen.
-Best inserts and manuals.
-Limited run insures carts will hold their value.
-At $399 one of the best prices we have seen on a conversion.
-I got my name on one.

I have to agree with you , Chimp. !Arcade!'s products are a cut above the rest, and
their MVS adapter is proof of this. NGF is just worried about the competition
(who in their right mind would spend $1100 for a NGF copy of Strikers when you
can purchase the same game from !Arcade! for $400? ).

!Arcade! is a reputable company, and I would rather support them than NGF any day.

Upon seeing posts on Neo-Geo.Com Forums in which members NeoLord and Chimpmeister were to have purportedly agreed on something, member BioMotor_Unitron went outside to "clear his head," and was killed when a flying pig collided with him.

Just to think of it, that NGF aquired this information is in fact illegal.
It's a breach of International Trading Laws,
and therefore they can be accused in court.
Any lawyers here ?

-What is bothering you? No carts are destroyed or wasted here, they are just made to run on the home system with some nice extras.
-I like ON.com.
-Can I quote you about not bothering us on this board again?
