The lineup looks the SAME as 2000 and 99, oh well, I'll always have 98'...
And where the FUCK is Yashiro???? One of the coolest SNK characters ever, and they leave him out the last 3 KOF's.

I am a supporter of the new art. I think we need a little change from the old. Some of the pics of K' I have seen are awesome. Terry I am not to sure on yet, I need to see a higher res screen shot. I am still eagerly anticipating this title. And whats this I hear about 4 on 4....

Who was it SNK had in '95?, because no KoF game has EVER seen better artwork than in chapter II.

I don't mind the new artwork aat all, except for the noses. They seem...just weird or way off for many of the characters. Body design is cool though. Just real thin. Spike Spiegel/Lupan style, I guess. Mai looked good. <IMG SRC="smilies/drool.gif" border="0">

If the characters are supposed to be Asian then the artwork is terrific..If the characters are supposed to be European they look a lil' like planet of the apes...
Overall I really like the new style of artwork.
The bottom line is another 'PROFESSIONAL' release for an 11 year old system.

I dont know... Some of the characters look cool, but some just look stupid. I hate the way they made Athena look! Looks like she has an elf face. Yuri looks cool!

On the other hand, Andy's new costume is awesome, though I still think his FF2 outfit was the best. Nice to see they're doing something new with him (even though he's probably second to Athena in the "number of costume changes" category) but I want to see him become a MAIN player in the scheme of KoF. Oh my god, that picture of Athena almost made me blow chunks. She looks so disgustingly awful in that picture... Luckily, there's no way she could look that bad in the game, so I don't really care. There's that one pic of her new in game sprite, and she looks pretty good. I liked her better with longer hair, but Athena's Athena to me...
Overall though, I'd say I like Tonko's work better than Shinkiro. Shinkiro's stuff looked way too realistic, making the people look like they would in a live action movie or something... Shinkiro was perfect for the pictures in the art book that show the KOF characters doing normal stuff, like shopping at a mall or playing frisbee or something, it makes 'em look more real... Tonko seems better for the in game shit. Athena picture aside, I think the number of awkward looking pictures done by Tonko is less than the ones done by Shinkiro... Just my thoughts though.
This game will probably be good, but how many installments with 4 new characters, new backgrounds, and tiny improvements to the same old characters can you guys put up with? KOF is in dire need of a MOTW type revamp... But, if people keep playing (or should I say paying?) then there's no need to mess with what works I guess... We don't want another AOF3 do we? Nah... I want another MOTW <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Hmmm...
I like some most of the character portraits. They have a nice style about them, and for the most part look great (hey, whaddya know, Mai actually looks Asian for a change! <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">). Although, I've gotta say I'm not too crazy about the new outfits. Andy's looks pretty horrible in the picture, but doesn't look too bad during the game itself.

The select screen is horrible as well. Whoever's responsible for that ought to be dragged out in the streets and shot in the face! <IMG SRC="smilies/mad.gif" border="0">
The portraits on the main game screen are a mixed bag. Some are okay, but others (Chin, Choi and Xiang Fei come to mind) are... I don't even know how to describe them! <IMG SRC="smilies/eek2.gif" border="0">
All in all though, I've got to say the general in-game graphics look phenomenal. Especially the backgrounds, they seem to have gone back to the old style from '94 and '95, and just updated them for the new millenium. Fantastic!
Also, looking at some of the specific character changes, it looks as though they're straying away from the generic controller motions for the DM/SDM's they've been using, and are going onto more unique ones. That'll be nice for a change, as long as they're not TOO difficult to pull off in the middle of a heated fight.
All in all, it's shaping up to be a pretty phenomenal game. I look forward to reading the results of the beta-testing to see how the changes stack up in real-life play.

I dont know I like the Sprites they remind me of a cross between capcom and MOTW. but it is definitally a change. Also I kind of Dig Andy's new look. and the fact that Roberts no langer a hold character Rocks the house. <IMG SRC="smilies/spock.gif" border="0">

I like the look of the game, even though a lot of the art is unusual it is new, and that's good. When you see stuff like KOF2K where most of the stuff is recycled, you start to worry. Some observations:

Mei Li, good thing we have a cute-looking girl character once again. Athena lost her cuteness after '98 and Yuri is anything but after beasting everyone in KOF2K and the CVS series. Leona and King are too badass to be cute, of course, and Hinako is fighting a losing battle trying to reconcile cuteness and sumo. Mai and Mary have progressed far beyond cute, and Angel may join them. Damn I didn't know Foxy was a chick, thought it was a feminine man like Beni, when she hugs Kula in the KOF2K win animation... oh never mind.
Backgrounds, it's hard to evaluate until you see them in action. How many are there? I count US, France, river, snow, dark room, and western.
