I know this is probably getting ahead of myself seeing as the arcade version is only now entering a testing phase, but...given the fact that KoF isn't dead, and that MVS is still the development platform what kind of shot do you guys see at KoF 2001 making it to AES?

Pretty good, actually.

Being that KoF is one of their, if not their biggest series, I think this one will probably get at least a small run, maybe akin to what KoF 2K had.

Now whether or not they'll have an English version...

None taken!

I'd be happy with a Japanese only release myself, although now that I have a Neo cab, I'll probably end up picking up the MVS version of this.

I was just referring to the recent English releases Shawn's been able to secure for some of the other titles.

Being as how big KoF is though, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was able to get an English copy of this as well.

Well, if it's MVS they'll probably make English versions of these since SNK continues to make the bulk of their money in the arcades. And, of course, they still do support SNK somewhat decently in the UK (I think)...

As for the home cart? That's what I'm more interested in... since I'll probably want the game as soon as it's released, the MVS would be more than the actual home cart, wouldn't it? After a few months or so it drops in price, and usually below the price of a home cart... that's why I would initially look for the Japanese home cart release. Let's hope that they actually make a home cart, regardless of the language issues.

I'm actually pretty confident about the prospects of KOF2K1 being released for the Japanese home cart market. When SNK was having their financial problems they STILL released 2K to home cart. Now that they're apparently doing a little better, I don't see why they wouldn't produce a run for 2K1 in the same fashion. I mean, they even went back and made another run of Slug 3 home carts. If they're willing to do that, I see no reason why they wouldn't make a home cart for their most anticipated game worldwide.

As for an english release, my feeling on the matter is that as long as the Japanese cart plays in english (and there's no reason to think it won't), I'll be a happy camper and plunk down my 260-300 US dollars for it. Of course, given the option I prefer an english release (looks more uniform with the rest of my collection), but ultimately the game's the thing and I'll take it however I can get it.

What I'm curious about is why they never ported 2K to the DC. I own the home cart for 2K so its not a big deal to me, but it seems odd to me that they wouldn't want to provide a version to fans that don't have a Neo Geo system. There's a lot of money, potentially, to be made there. Were they waiting to port it to PS2 instead, and were waiting for Sony to ease off on their hardline '3D only' policy? Anybody hear anything about the why of it all?

I would assume if there is a Japanese release we will see a certain number from that production ported over to the US market. Only time will tell but based on the Slug 3 and very soon the Sengoku 3 I have a feeling that the outlook is strong for a US KoF 2001 release.

All I need is a test version appearing in US arcades. Getting tired of the tekkens, MvC2s, all the music games, racing games. With SUPER DOPER graphics...Kids these days waste money on a game with less fun factor and NO Story...

Now Capcom vs SNK 1 is transfered. hmm maybe I'll ask my arcade if they'll make a deal with getting the japanese version of KOF2001 and Capcom vs SNK 2. Take that Tekken 4!

Yeah, I am looking forward to this game too. Unfortuently, the MVS prices do not drop systematically see KOF 2K is still more on MVS than the home cart, and I still have not bought it. KOF2K1 will be $1,000 - 1,500 when it is first released on MVS... I doubt a lot of us are going to drop that money... especially since it will be down to $300 - 400 range in six months. Sigh... oh well, I waitied over a year and got KOF 99' complete kit for $100, I guess when you all are enjoying KOF2K1, I will finally get 2000.... hehe, sucks!

I wouldn't be surprised if this game saw an AES release. Maybe if there will be an English version, it could get a proper release this time (unlike KOF2K).

You guys all seem to be drooling over kof2001 because you have seen a few pics,I know it might look good but the fact is,nobody knows what the game play will be like, whether it will be as tight as other kof games because after all a different company has produced it,look what happened to sam shodown 3 when a new team took over, the graphics were the best but the gameplay wasnt as good as the first two by a big margin.but being a hypocrite,I too cant wait till its out as I love the kof games, especially getting to see all these new wonderful backdrops, the series gives me the most overall fun
