Hey folks! Been meaning to make a general announcement and see what sort of feedback it generates...
After lots of consideration, phone calls,
conversations, sleepless nights etc. etc.
I am happy to declare that in the first half
of 2002 "SNK SUPER SATURDAY" will occur in the city of Philadelphia!
This one-day-only event will be a full-fledged gathering of Neo Scene people from
all over the East Coast of the USA and the
rest of the country.
Since this is strictly a "grassroots effort,"
everything is fan-coordinated, no chain stores like GameStop, FuncoLand, etc. calling
the shots or pulling the strings from afar.
At the moment, the city of Philadelphia has
a dedicated core of SNK enthusiasts who are
now just beginning to mobilize and realize
it is up to them to make this event become
a reality. It may only be a little more than a dozen people involved, but I know we are
gaining momentum in our recruiting efforts.
What's needed are people to come out of the woodwork in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey,
New York, Virginia and offer us whatever support they can, whether it be in the form of donated consoles, TV's or sound systems!
I know this all sounds to good to be true,
but believe me when I say this WILL HAPPEN
in spite of recent terrible anoouncements
from SNK Japan.
What sort of programming are we cooking up?
If an art show, full-blown tournaments, a
dealers' section, a swap zone for tech-heads,
SNK anime screenings on projection, open
gaming for 10+ hours, mini-auction and raffle
sound appropiate, then let us know!
Truth be told, this post is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope there is an adequate number of SNK devotees in my neck of the woods(Philly Region) along with a potential
legion of people outside the state of
Pennsylvania who can make this dream of
mine into the reality it deserves.
More to come either this weekend or after
Monday. I know I'll be hearing from the inevitable naysayers asking for credentials, experience, justification and so on. But rest assured I will elaborate on my background and motivations soon enough. Thanks for listening everybody!
