Cool deal, Nikke has gotten in some Sigma Nova units at VERY good prices ($269):
http://www1.ocn.ne.jp/~kaiten/

It's under hardware. I have one ordered and will post my impressions when I have it hooked up. I'm hoping the joys are solid, though I've heard they are. If the S-video & sound are as good as a modded Neo I will be a VERY happy camper Thanks Nikke!

How does this qualify as a good price? A Supernova goes for $300 with two high quality sticks. This thing is twice the price similarly equipped.

Tonk, didn't people trash it because they didn't think it had S-Video? I don't remember. That's goin' back a ways.

I think they were trashing it, because Dion sold it to you for like 800 if I rememeber (not to mention that was the height of your asshole phase), man and to know he got it for under 300 like Nikke.

bojay - actually, I'm expecting the video out to be much higher than an MAS systems which I have owned and was disappointed with as far as video quality.

Plus, I never used the big MAS sticks with a Neo board, I prefer home controllers through an MVS board with controller ports.

Other things - MAS jamma harness is WAY too short, and the unit is quite bulky.

Parallax - basically, it is a compact super nova. It contains a high quality RGB to NTSC converter, allowing you to play jamma boards on a regular television.

Also, Neo games can be played with the $269 unit and an MVS board, since many types of MVS boards have home controller ports built in.

Basically the sigma allows you to play MVS games at home.

Is there an FAQ doing the rounds at the moment for this? If i've understood correctly:

MVS 1 slot (old version) + Neo Geo old style stick + SIGMA Nova + JAMMA Harness + RGB SCART lead + TV = arcade niceness with the best picture quality possible and mint sound ? My TV is a UK Sony one with NICAM and S-video inputs so it's not too old.

It's tiny compared to a supergun and looks quite cool to me Chances are i've got completely the wrong idea.

So correct me if I am wrong...if you want to play MVS on your television...you have to...

1.purchase a Sigma($269)
2. 1-slot board($100?)

and then you can play it on your television?

My question is....is the quality of video the same or better than a Home AES with S-video and an ARCADE convertor? Is it cheaper? Is it more bulky than the AES w/ convertor? Just questioning everything....as it sounds very interesting....oh and where do you put the memory card reader?

If i get it right you could if you like todo the cheapest way to play MVS at home on your TV is:

1. Get a MVS board (old with joyports)
2. JAMMA Harness
3. PSU +5V, +12V (old AT PSU from pc will do)
4. Solder it all together and output it all to a rgb-scart or run direct to a RGB monitor.

Think this should be able to be done for under $100-120.
Did i miss something?

About the Sigma... the joysticks are sold separately. That main unit picture shows just the AV6000, some cables, and the "little lightsaber" to adjust CBC.

With a "Rai Jin" (double joystick board), this thing will set you back about $590. Then there's another $50 for a stepdown converter if you live in a country not using 110V AC.

I wonder how this setup compares to the GW HGA qualitywise (which I'm actually quite happy with, thanks.). Still, the Sigma would take up very little space. The Rai Jin stick has some cool artwork on it. I wonder how long the Jamma Harness is.

$45 doesn't sound too bad for a JH, especially if you want to buy several (so you don't have to keep detaching a JH from the board each time). The RGB support is an interesting feature as well- my GW HGA doesn't have that.

Frankly, this Sigma does look mighty tempting. If I get it, I'll probably have to spring for another stepdown (my XRGB-2 would be hooked into that).

No...but you need to attach speakers if your RGB monitor does not have a tuner.

I'm not trying to be a dickhead here. If I'm wrong in some point, please someone correct me.

That's a total fucking rip-off!! $600 for a Supergun?

You can get a SuperNova for $300, and the joysticks, to me, look a little more sturdy.

Also, let's not forget the additon $100+ for S/H (I didn't see if it was included..it may be *shrug*)

Am I missing something here?

Sidez - yup, you have it about right. I cant vouch for the picture quality, but I've heard (Tonk and others) that the picture is equal to a modded AES.

djbomberman - you'd need the harness also, which appears to be MUCH longer than the 6 inch MAS harness. For memory card, I'm using a 2 slot board with mem card reader built in.

Doser - I've never ordered from Nikke, but have heard he's tops. Really great guy too.

Blaine - you are right man, $600 is a chunk, but have become a 2D perfectionist and am looking for arcade quality, which I never felt I got with my MAS Nova. The MAS picture quality just didnt do it for me, a lot of bleeding and dulled colors, plus the thing is huge, as are the sticks.

This thing also gives me the quality I want for my other boards such as Hyper 64 (lovin' some Wild Ambition), Street Fighter 2, and a few shooters I have my eye on. The Sigma joysticks look to be 'clicky' which I like also.

Hello Dudes!!

Well to start with I would like to thank gargoyle7 for bringing this new piece of machinery to your attention, thanks .

To explain a little more closer what this unit really do for you.

It is very compact and small about 20, 10, 10 cm. It has a slick design and a clean look. It hosts all the possible picture outputs you might need Video, S- Video, and one RGB-out for the best picture quality. It also comes with a lightsaber just in case you need to defend yourself while playing.

The Joysticks are incredible. They are the arcade feeling incarnated. Heavy, durable, sturdy. The artwork is also a very nice touch.

If you think the joysticks are steep just buy a Neo motherboard for $80 to $100. There are motherboards selling with mem-slots(I can provide these as well) hook up your usual MEGA330 joysticks and play your MVS carts.

Since I am the one selling these items it might be hard to take my words seriously but believe me I would not sell these items if I did not believe in them.

Some of you think that these items are expensive and even a rip-off. Just in case you want to know our profit on these items is not that good. We make better money on the NeoGeo. But I really like this machine and that is the main reason why I want to sell it.

I am gonna update the Sigma section in a few days, giving more information, explaining the items more closely. I hope that gargoyle7 will come up with an objective review instead of mine that might be colored by selling ambition .

All of you take care,
Nikke

Just keep in mind you won't be able to use an RGB SCART cable unless you have a SCART compatible TV, or an arcade cabinet, in the case you own a cab, you wouldn't be buying a sigma anyways

And the price of the unit may seem good, but rememeber it doesn't come with any sticks and don't forget shipping from japan (that'd be another 100 easy for the system and stick)

I'm sure the unit is great, the sticks look awesome, but you could get a mass supergun for 299+ shipping, and that includes 2 sticks. However the video could be allot better on the sigma, I don't know. If you don't plan on playing anything other than an old style MVS board, you may not need any sticks.

And one thing that's bugging me, what the HELL is CBC? I noticed the little green wand is a CBC adjuster, what is CBC?!??

Yes Drift King EX has a point there. You have to own a scart-TV if you want to make use of the RGB outlet.

The other option is a XRGB-2 upscan converter in combination with the trusty VGA monitor. This is very nice and will give you a very good picture quality.

The shipping for a full set(AV6000 + AV8000 + Jamma harness + EMS) is not $100 but about $81. I charge $495($564) for a full set almost picking up the entire shipping.

Over and out

Hmm... for about $400 - 500 dollars you could get a complete Neo Geo 25 inch 4 Slot Candy cab... shipped of course. And they are so small they fit in the tiniest room... I don't get the super gun... sorry, it seems like a waste... but I like having the real hardware, guess it is a preference. And for those who say they don't have room, I have a modest 1 bedroom apartment... and three cabs in it... so I don't want to hear that.

Superguns are cool if you have no intrest in a cab, or want to be able to have portable jamma games (bring it to a convention for a tournament, someones house ect)

I used to own a gun before my cab, and i was very happy with it.
