Yep, i'm considering selling. 78 carts in total - 73 individual carts. All Euro versions unless japanese only releases. Carts include, blazing star, pulstar, mark of the wolves, waku waku 7, Voltage Fighter Gowcazier, all Samurai Showdowns, all last blades, all KOF bar 96. Am i crazy??? does anyone want make an offer for the whole collection?

Do you think i should sell? at the minute i believe this is the largest collection in the UK.

If you just don't want it anymore, I'd sell it. But if you just need money to pay the bills or whatever, selling something you'll truly miss a year from now isn't a great idea. Make it your last resort.

Good luck with whatever you do.

DONT DO MAN!!

You have some GREAT games. I've sold many good games and ended buying them back for more than I payed. Unless you need the money to live, DONT SELL!!

Do what i did. Consider selling it for about 2 months. Just sit and think about it. If after a while you still want to sell it go ahead. Just dont rush dumping a great collection. Let it sit in your mind and really make sure you want to sell it!!!

I couldn't said it better then Todd did. Yeah, if you are going to end up regretting selling the dang thing... then make it your "last resort".

Am I the only person who feels as if the Neo-Geo market is extremely "active" on the selling end of the spectrum at the current time? I mean, shit, there were two or three home carts of Blazing Star up on eBay last week, ALL AT THE SAME TIME, along with a Pulstar cart! In addition to this, for the first time in over a year, a few copies of the elusive Twinkle Star Sprites have surfaced on eBay. Why does it seem like so many people are selling off and/or parting out thier collections? Could it be that people are becoming scared of a "global recession" and are selling off their cart collections while they're still worth something?

I think that's a good theory, Dolphin Lord. Part of the motivation comes when we see people sell a really valuable cart which ends up going for way more than normal. (BS topping $600, TSS over $1,000...).

I know that if the next Blazing Star to hit Ebay sold for $700+, it'd be *REALLY* tempting for me to sell mine...I love the game, but I've got bills to pay (and I can always buy an !ARACADE! convertor and the MVS version)!

Imagine if Kizuna Encounter actually popped up...! It'd probably sell for $1,500-2,000. I have a feeling that an auction ending THAT high would draw a few more of the elusive carts to market.

It's the same formula that keeps people from selling...that last TSS ended at $960...? That's over $100 less than the one a few days before it. I remember when there were three Slug's on Ebay...I think the last ended under $800 (all US, complete, too).

People will snatch up the first at rediculous prices, with each subsequent one going for a little less, until sellers are reluctant to part with their "investment".

I don't think that's necessarily the greedy "collector" mentality at work here: I think it's just sensible that people want to get back what they paid if possible. If I dropped $800 on a US Ninja Master's, I'd only sell it for $500 out of absolute need. I'd try to get back as much as possible.

Also, though it seems that a lot of people are in "selling" mode, there are still plenty of people out there who support it by buying!

Pretty much what I have been doing. I have urges to sell absolutely everything, but so far I haven't been able to do it. I lack that final push, because something deep inside is telling me "don't do it" despite the fact that I would love to for other reasons. Not new advice but just think about it for a little while and if you don't see yourself reconsidering, then go and collect your thousands on eBay.

Seriously, do you really need those games? Dump 'em now while the market is HOT! Keep the ones you love...

I'm down to 7 carts that I will never sell because I love the games...

If you don't mind my asking, which ones?

And just for reference - I'm relatively new to the Neo Geo scene - I often hear people classify the market as hot. What's it been like the last few years? How much higher are prices now than they were a bit ago? And as for the prices that have shot through the roof - are these games that were easier to find a couple of years back that are just not readily available any more?

Or is this just a crazy peak in the market that's happening for really no reason at all?

I think a lot of it has to do with the "collectors mentality" that seems to have taken over the last couple of years.

Just 2 years ago, I had the opportunity to pick up a mint home cart of Waku Waku 7 for around $200, or Ninja Masters for around $400. I'm still kicking myself for missing those deals - although I did pick up a mint copy of Kizuna Encounter for around $350

But then again, everything moves in cycles. Games that were once hard to find are now popping up all over the place, and ones that used to be commonplace are now becoming harder and harder to locate. That same time, you couldn't give away a copy of ADK - prices for mint copies were usually around the $50 to $60 range. Now, I see them going for anywhere from $100 to $300!

So, yes, prices DO get crazy at times, but my best advice to you is to either pick up an MVS unit, or simply wait. Generally, given enough time and patience, you can eventually pick up the games you want at a reasonable price.

Hey Man - Just a humble suggestion just like everyone else's - Just wait it out and use it as last resort as much as possible. If you can get the benjamins from another channel then use it Man and hold out on yur collection. Speaking from personal experience with "Buy Neo-then Sell Neo-then rebuy again the Neo" rollercoaster ride I went through, it sure cost me a whole lot than to just have held out on my very first Neo AES to begin with. To this day, I regretted selling my Neo AES (I went through 4 of'em) and now I'm having a hard time getting it about the same cost when I sold them due to "Collector Inflation" going on nowadays. Two words Man, HOLD OUT!!! PEACE Brah....

Yeah, "selling mode" sounds nice, hehe. Two years ago I wrote a little Neo Geo FAQ which I used for my (now defunct) NG fan site, and after putting it online mails came in with subjects like "Neo Geo scene - investor market?" 'n stuff. Some people seem to have made some substantial cash with their Neo trades and are now hunting for more while playing away on their PS2s...

I have just sold my Turbo Duo to Blaine (Hello Blaine, I'm still in Germany, so we'll finish the deal when I return to Spain on monday, OK?) and I'm selling my Neo Geo CD too because I REALLY needed the money to buy some Neo Geo Cartriges and other things more important. I mean, this is just a hobby, and I'm sure that I'll miss my Turbo Duo and Neo Geo CD, but if you really need the money for something more important than a hobby, just do it. But don't do it if you are not sure because you may regret it

Yes, I made the decision to not sell any of my gaming systems and stuff now, sometimes you sell shit and regret it for your life, I must say good decision and good luck finishing your collection.
