Nightmare a "Ghouls n Ghosts" type game??

Is there any confirmation on the game play for Nightmare in the Dark? Is it a side scrolling 2D game such as Ghouls n Ghosts or is it just a set screen/puzzle type game?
Hoping for a side scroll/action game of the GnG type.

Looks like a bubble bobble/Donky Kong type game to me, All the screen shots have the same screen layout with rocks everywhere to jump on.

A side scroller would be more exciting though
