Well, its easier and cheaper to buy Shenmue 2 from NCS for $45 plus shipping, then use the free Utopia boot disc to play the game. Why waste money on the CDX . . . ?

edit: fixed confusion . . . <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0">

That would be cheaper if it was Shenmue II you were talking about and not Headhunter.

No my friend, Shenmue 2 is not directly NTSC compatible. It is PAL ONLY, with VGA compatible support. Shenmue 2, like a lot of PAL DC games, is 60hz compatible so will run on NTSC TV's with Scart no problem.
To run Shenmue 2, you will need a bootdisk or a modified DC or something else that will beat the region lock out.

BUY IT - IT'S BLOODY BRILLIANT!!!

DON'T FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE WEAKEST LINK THREAD AND PUT DOWN WHAT YOU THINK. Cheers. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I know! Sure sounds like Liquid Snake is up to his scamming people again. He is trying to do a test market on us. Watch this ass mark the game up to $90 to $200 to $1600 to $2000. OH believe it, because he has been bragging about selling somebody a Shaq Fu game for $2000. A big FU(K YOU for hyping the game up for your profit.

I just got headhunter and had no problem running it on my tv using the Utopia boot disk and SVHS. No scart needed. I would assume Shenmue 2 will be the same way. I should know soon though.

Just out of curosity. What other games are Euro only for DC. I think I have seen some soccer games but wondered if there were many others.

Sorry, my bad. You guys probably don't need scart but we generally do, to play import games (ie NTSC).
I can't think of many PAL only games... there is a football sim just out called 90 Minutes (don't know what it's like though)...Did you guys get MSR?
For further info on PAL games go to www.electronicsboutique.co.uk or alternatively www.game.uk.com. If you see anything you like check with your importer - they should be able to get it.

Am I the only here that thinks EB is going to catch shit from Sega for selling this? I don't see how they would allow it. EB got shit for selling import japan games back at launch.

Well if its true, not only that, but it will also breech Sega's agreement with Microsoft, not to release the DC version in the US!
Cos lets face it, Sega allowing EB (the DCs biggest retailer) to distribute the UK version is tantermount to an official release!

Look at Segas stand against imports on Ebay!
What a crock of shit!

Yea eBay recently shutdown an import dc auction of mine, yet I see boot auctions end all the time! It pisses me off.

I doubt Sega even cares now, they already killed off the DC hardware and said their concentrating on OTHER systems, why would they give a shit about imports on eBay?

I don't get it, import saturn auctions are fine, even import PSX and PS2, which still are going strong, but import dc stuff gets canned, like dc sales even matter to sega at this point outside japan.

Its crazy, they shut down legit auctions of import games, and ignor auctions for burned crap!
Well ebay UK seems to, I dunno so much about ebay-US, but over here you see "Dreamcast with 100 games" all the fucking time! Or stuff like it, its all copy shite, nobody bothers!
Bizzare!

So, I'm wondering where SS heard this, about Shen 2?
Seems unlikley?

COME ON Silent Snake!
Spill the beans, tell us where you got the gossip. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

Yea I saw a couple auctions for UK Shenmue 2 and Headhunter, which were dutch for 50, and he said they were disc only, with no books or cases, lol.

50, disc only, and I saw those end!!! Yet they shut down a legit auction of mine, where I even have a pic of the case open!

Well,if Sega only cares about 'their' legal games..,
Maybe you just should start selling copies yourself,then nobody will bother you... <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/loco.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/tickled.gif" border="0">

Remember EB used to sell import Saturn games? I've seen "KOF 97", "Xmen vs. Street Fighter", "Thunderforce V" and other games before.

Sega didn't say anything at that time......

Hey how do you get the Utopia boot disc to work. I downloaded version 1.1 off a site and burned it with Nero but the damn thing did not work in my dreamcast. Help! How can I make one of these boot disks that work?

Well you need to make sure to d/l the version of the Utopia file specifically made for Nero (mine was called bootcd-nero.zip), unzip the file (which gave BootCD.nrg), then use the .nrg file to create the disc by doing File, New, choose CD-ROM (UDF), and point to the .nrg file . . . that should do it I think!! Worked perfectly for me . . .

Oh and I can give you a site that has all kinds of great DC utilities, but I wont post it here . . . don't want to encourage piracy. PM me if you need it . . . <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I will try it again when I get home tonight. I think I might have picked the wrong format. I will try UDF. I will let you know how it goes.

I didn't know that Utopia could be downloaded. I could use a version with VGA support. Does anyone have a link for this?

Also, what is "Nero"?

Yeah, it would be easier to do that, but it would also be....... ILLEGAL!!! <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">

Heh, actually I dunno... I thought I read somewhere that the Utopia disc stole some of Sega's booting code, which would technically make it illegal. If you want to do it the legal and proper way, you'd have to buy that bundle...

<IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

I use the Utopia disc, but whatever... I'm not in too big of a rush for Shenmue II, still haven;t played the first...

Eh...
