This rumour has started in many Emulation pages and forums. I really hope that's not true; I'm receiving my JPN copy in one week, and some fucking pirate has dumped it already!!!
Have any of you heard anything about this?

Here's the page of the guy who is trying to dump it:

Kof 2001, was supposed to be dumped a long time ago. It just hasn't been leaked. Doesn't really bother me though, I don't really care for kof anymore.....

I wouldn't worry about it. Kawaks, MAME and Nebula won't support the dump until that fabled '3 years or so' has passed, for the games to have made a profit.

Besides, if those shots were taken in NRX like I heard, the dump looks near unplayable. For those who think it's good enough to play in the first place...

As for someone hacking the ROMset for NRX... they still haven't sorted KoF2K's s1 yet. Can't see KoF2K1 being easier.

Kenchen's pics look like poop. NeorageX doesn't support the snk encryption chip. Here's someone who's running it in everyone's favorite MAME32:

Who said Kenchen's shots were from an encrypted dump? It's possible to decrypt even the program ROMs. You don't need the SMA after that.

You lot should at least know your enemy before you attack. I bet many of you have benefitted from emulation in some way, looking at the Sigs in here.

Here's what pisses me off most about that shit. Many here like to post that games have been dumped, and act mad, when in reality they are giving a heads up to all the other little bastards that roam here that it's dumped. Not to make us mad, but to signal to the cheap bitches that it's dumped.

I won't lie to you. I have an emu for Neo Geo on my computer. I use it to try games out before I buy them (That's how I knew I wanted Viewpoint). But, the roms and emu are not half as good as the real things, so for crying out loud, get the real games. I tried Blazing Star out about two years ago, and now I just got it on MVS. Good lord the backgrounds and graphics are much better on the real thing. Much.

So stop dicking around with the roms, and just buy the real thing. And to those that think you're doing us a service telling us what's been dumped, knock it off... you know what you're REALLY up to.

I have to take sides with Spike, yes i too have Mame on my harddisk. Just like he does, i use it to check out the games. I don't play with it 24/7. I've heard a lot of talk about KOF 2001, and i've never played it.. because it's not dumped, an my arcade only has large sitdowns & gambling machines.

Also my comment on the pics looking like poop wasn't an attack, maybe you misunderstood me. BillyJr already showed pics of this game running, without the gfx errors that kenchen page has.

Anyway, emulation is what got me into the Neo-Geo. I had never owned a Neo, only played a few Super Sidekicks games in the arcades. It took a while before Sidekicks emulation was completely accurate, during that time lots of other roms got released to the 'public'. I had an instant orgasm after i played Blazing Star for the first time.. never imagined that the Neo could do such greatness..

When i finally had mastered enough courage, i bought my first cab. It wasn't long after, when i got my 1-slot with puzzle bobble from a local collector. And after that, many more carts and boards were bought. I even set my boss up for a deal that ended up with a NBA Jam machine at work, with a 1-slot in it so i could play during breaks!

After getting Blazing star from Mdgamesales, and playing it on a cab.. it was a total difference from playing it on the pc..

Yes.. I will probably download KOF2001 when it is released. Yes, i will play it a few times to see what it's like. Because, maybe as a result i will end up buying the mvs cart.

If you are reacting to my post:

Yes, i believe them. The cart has been dumped. Pictures of it running have been shown. They aren't fake, or promotional material that SNK used to have on thier page. What other kind of proof do you need ?

The only reason that the rom isn't public yet, is (probably) because the persons that have it, are afraid that it will hurt the copyright owners.

As long as it's not leaked for at least a year or two or three and the screwy graphics turn would-be ROM-players off, fine by me.

It's actually a good case for SNKNeoGeo - will they get their act together and fuck shit up? It's not like they can't find the people doing the dumps, and knowing the ties SNK has, it would be interesting to see articles in the news about fat Hong Kong virgins gunned down in front of their dumping devices, or getting their noses and ears chopped off.

If you ask me, emulation has helped SNK far more than it's hurt it. It's opened it up to an audience it would have never otherwise reached (i.e. those who can't afford the games, don't have arcades with MVS', those who just generally haven't heard of it, and those who thought the system died off 8 or so years ago). Personally, I would've never gotten into SNK if it wasn't for emulation, and as a result, I've purchased products I wouldn't have otherwise gotten(console ports, a NGPC, and other SNK related stuff).

Besides, there's no real need to get your knickers in a twist. The roms likely won't be released or leaked for a while, and with PC and PS2 ports supposedly coming out, the demand for the roms won't be nearly as high. Most people want the roms just to be able to play the game, not to pirate them and sell them illegally and what not (those that do should be shot).

Am I the only one who can't see a difference between EMU's on a TV and the real thing on a TV? I shouldn't be cause there's no difference. Funny how you mentioned Blazing Star, cause I played that to death on EMU, and now that I have the MVS cart, I see no differences.

Peace

Gee, this topic's never been discussed before... Jesus christ people, do we all have to have the exact same discussion every single time a ROM is released? Nothing new has been said in the whole ROM argument for years now... It's not news that ROMs suck, people who play them suck more, and that you're still a fan because you played a ROM and bought a Neo Pocket...

Fucking hell, can't we just talk about something else?

I'm sorry people, but it gets real old reading this for the hundred millionth time...

Most people (including myself) prefer to play the home version of it. The graphics, gameplay, sound, control, EVERYTHING can be perfectly emulated, but bringing back memories of being 10 and playing Mario Bros. 'till 4 in the morning on that small rectangle controller is something that will never be able to be emulated. Whenever I play roms, I feel there is something missing from the original, even if it is just sitting in front of my tv knowing that I'm playing it on the actual console.

I do love playing roms though. I love the save state feature (I even bought an SNES thingy that lets me do that), especially for rpgs. They're also cool for making animated gifs. People who bitch for one side or another are stupid. What the hell are you going to solve by doing so? Just to be able to say "yes everybody, I can bitch, and this proves it".
