Strange Unbelievable Rumor...

Okay, I got a weird ass instant message today by someone I dunno... and he told me:

"Expect some of the World Heroes to be hidden characters in SNK vs. Capcom 2."

I go "dude, the list was announced already... there are none of them".

Then he goes.... "you better look twice.... I got the cahoots man, I know what's going down... expect Johnny Maximum to be one of them"

"Wait a sec.... the World Heroes are ADK-owned!"

"Nope... everyone believes that, but SNK actually owns them, they have the rights, not ADK."

"Sure...."

"SNK announced they owned the World Heroes characters about 4 or 5 years ago"

Then he left.

??? What do you guys make of this? Just some jokeful jerk looking to get my hopes up? Is this it? Grrrrr....

You tell me.... can it be possible... ?

Who knows? SNK published WHP on the Saturn, and Twinkle Star Sprites on the Dreamcast, maybe the Saturn version as well. So, it's possible he's correct about that part, of course the inverse is equally possible. As much as I want to believe it I would have to ask why? SNK ported one of the five games World Heroes characters appear in -that's it. They have nothing to do with ADK's battleship, so it makes no bloody sense. Not that I'm giving up hope, but let's face it. The chances are not promising.

Yes, SNK does and always has owned the WH characters, but they chose to let their company within a company, ADK, control them and what games they were in.

If you recall the original previews and promos for King of Fighters '94 even the official adds had World Heroes characters on the cast list.

SNK didn't put them in because they said it would have screwed up the storyline too much.

The list for Capcom vs. SNK 2 that we've all seen so far is a list of ANNOUNCED and CONFIRMED characters, not the full roster.

I've actually heard from a different source (unconfirmed) that World Heroes characters will be in it.

Due to the amount of conflicting information there is no way to prove this correct or incorrect until Capcom gives a finalized roster or a screenshot of John Maximum kicking Ryu's sorry ass.

So you're saying that ADK is, no was, in fact a second-party developer to SNK? I never saw any KoF '94 previews; just immediately fell in love with the game when it hit arcades.

This sounds good.... the list was confirmed but there may be more on the way.... whoo hoo!
Yeah, Neo Rasa is correct. KOF '94 originally planned to have Hanzou, Fuuma, Captain Kidd, and company scattered about KOF '94... but somewhere during the development time, plans fell apart and that it would conflict too much with storylines.

I guess SNK does own the WH.... and have every right to revive any of them should they feel the desire..... *crosses fingers*

Well, ADK being (none of this WAS stuff, they just released Big Bang Pro Wrestling a few months ago ) a second party/inhouse developer to SNK like Yumekobo, etc. was common knowledge along with the WH crew almost being in KoF'94, however, I heard about World Heroes characters being in Capcom vs. SNK 2 from a friend who's friend is a Capcom game tester.

As I said it's VERY unlikely that it's true, but then again two World Heroes characters in CvsSNK2 rumors happening in the same DAY? That's VERY unlikely too unless there's some kind of substance to it.

Again we'll just have to wait and see. Even if know WH characters make it into the game I'm pretty sure this means some of them were at least under consideration.

Steve: Do you remember the screen name of the person who sent you the instant messages?


Again, unfortunately there's really know way to prove this right or wrong at the moment.

I'm not calling anyone a liar, but was there any proof to the statement that SNK owns the WH characters? Sounds strange to me...

Seriously though, it's not up for contention whether or not SNK CAN use the WH characters, it's a matter of are they or aren't they.

Rasa... that's the thing... I "x" the message box after he left.... I know I was thinking "D'oh!!!!" right after I did it. I was so excited in a sense that I totally zoned out for a second and didn't think about anything else.

Oh, you see I don't pay attention to the Pocket, and was going by their "Final Version" web site of 20 May last year, or so, believing that they had given up programming and thus had no more reason to update the site.
