Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on X-BOX

Capcom will announce shortly that MvC2 will be released on the X-Box. Further news is that no video game producer owns the EXCLUSIVE rights to the Marvel characters which means that Marvel is "flexible" and negotiable with other companies interested in using their characters. What does this mean? Well, the possibility of a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 in the future.

Proof of this flexibility comes from the fact that Marvel allowed Capcom to produce MvC2 on the X-Box. Legally, once your license runs out, you're forbidden to use any of their characters for any reason, therefore, this leaves the door open for future possibilities of other versus titles to come with Marvel.

This is solid news coming from a Capcom source. I should know more info next week when some Capcom employees come back from their meeting in Japan regarding Capcom's arcade release schedule.

Ahh, it seems like it's going to be a great year for SNK and Capcom.

But Marvel vs. Capcom was utter crap. A true scrub-fest. But then again, I hated all the vs. games from Capcom, and I am not a capcom hater.

MvC 2 is old news, and a scrub game at that, not to exciting news

PS, sorry to spam your topic, Trieu. Just my opinion. I personally love your breaking news and deals when it comes to the neo geo and tasteful games :)

No problem Evil. Everyone to their own opinion. As you all know, I love Neo Geo, whether the game is crappy or great, I try to buy each and every one; however, Capcom no doubt has made much better games in terms of playability when it comes to fighting games.

I'm sure this is old news to some, but most of the SNK programmers who worked on the Fatal Fury series were ex-Capcom programmers who worked on Street Fighter II. Some of these programmers worked on the KOF series and some of SNK's other fighters, so technically, alot of experience was from Capcom itself.

Personally, I think if SNK came out with a 2-D powerhouse instead of the Hyper crap, they would do so much better than they are today.

I own almost all of Capcom's CPS2 boards and if you look at many of the beat 'em ups like Alien vs. Predator, D & D, have you seen the sprites the hardware can handle at one time? It's insane and for the most part, there's no slowdown. Metal Slug on the CPS 2 hardware would me mind blowing.

I know many people here think Capcom fighters are crap, but IMO, many companies copy their style and graphics, but cannot reproduce their playability. Alpha 3 is a good example. It's not about using Super Moves all day long, but it's the timing, distancing, speed of the player's mind/hands that make this game so deep.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is a fabulous game if you take out Cable. Cable ruins the whole game, no doubt. If you've played this game, then you know what I'm talking about.

My point is, Capcom brought alot of great titles and continue to do so. I respect and admire both companies highly...as you can all see.

That's what MAS sticks are for. :) You can never play fighters that require a shit load of combos on a joypad.

It is inevitable that MAS will make a stick for the X-Box.

Don't believe everything you read. If anything, this is false report. If this game were to be released on any of the big three, it would be the PS2. The Xbox is selling extremely poorly in Japan at the moment. The chances of it being released on the Gamecube remain fairly high, as Capcom and Nintendo seem to be growing closer and closer with each passing day. A four-player addition would be logical for a GCN version, but still, I have a feeling Capcom would rather port it without alterations to the PS2 simply because it is selling so well in Japan. Once Gamecube sales pick up in Japan, and believe me they will, Capcom will quickly release either a port of part 2, or a newer version with more characters. I'm afraid the Xbox is going to be left out in the cold as far as 2D fighters are concerned.

BTW: Capcom would be foolish to keep Tekki an Xbox exclusive. They would benefit greatly by porting it to the PS2. Perhaps the same could be said of Resident Evil, but I’d rather not go there. Nintendo needs help selling Gamecubes to the “mature” crowd. Microsoft’s gaming division needs to be dismantled.

Good "speculation" Atland, but it's just that. I spoke with a Capcom exec. earlier this afternoon about the possibility of MvC3 and Marvel rights. There are no exclusive rights for anyone with Marvel characters. Marvel makes more by distributing the rights across the spectrum, according to him and the release of MvC2 on X-Box will show proof of that.

PS2 is a logical choice, but then again, how come X-Box has exclusives, such as DOA3? Simply because Mr. Gates has more Franklins than the whole Sony Corporation itself.

Trust me on this one. I despise inaccurate information and I don't post rumors unless I hear some solid facts.

Where are your sources from?

@ Atland - Furthermore, Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is a big hit in the U.S., not Japan mainly because Japanese players are fans of Japanese anime characters, not Marvel characters, like U.S. fans. Therefore, X-Box is a logical choice (since it has sold very well in the U.S.).

We will wait until E3 or Capcom's/Microsoft's announcement.

If I read this somewhere, I would not believe it, but Mr. Capcom of U.S. of A himself told me this. I hope he's not playing an April fools joke on me. :)

You may have "good" sources, but then again, so does our good friend Matthew Casmassina [IGN Cube Editor] from the highly respected IGN.

"Capcom's a big supporter of GCN and there are some more games coming. Biohazard 0 will be beautiful, if all goes well, and then there is Glass Rose, Capcom Vs. SNK2 and Marvel vs. Capcom."

Matthew Casamassina's own words, which can be read in this thread on the IGN Boards: http://boards.ign.com/message.asp?topic=20226371&start=20226827

Being the gaming guru that you are, I am quite sure that you have an IGN insider account, so you should have no trouble opening up that link. Have a nice day. :)

Can't give advice if you can't take it. Hmm. Trust Capcom themselves or a secondary source? I'll take Capcom.

I don't need to read the article, because my whole point is that MvC2 will come out on X-Box. You say it won't. No big deal if I'm wrong, but geez, why would such a big exec. in Capcom tell me this info when I didn't even ask for it?

IGN is realiable news some of the time, but do you wonder where it comes from?

Just to give you an idea, some of it comes from me. Indirectly. IGN writers know members of this forum, who relay the info to them.

You CANNOT get more accurate info of most things, unless you get it direct from the source.

Like you said, can't trust everything you read...which is what you're asking me to do.

How ironic. :)

BTW, since you know IGN well, ask Anthony Chau how he received the information who, how and when SNK's IP were auctioned off when he posted it IGN.com a few months back.

Yes, it's ironic. It's ironic that out of every single person that Capcom representative could've told that news to, he chose you.

That man doesn't speak for all of IGN's editors and employees. He may've had an ulterior agenda to satisfy or something.

Pardon me @land, but that reads as nothing but speculation that those titles MAY come to the cube if sales of Resident Evil are strong.

I read that whole thread, and there was nothing but wild fanboy speculation, and some kid who kept asking about the "Van Daminator"

Goodness. It's common knowledge within Capcom and geez, given MvC2 not being a "new" title, Capcom is not going to put time into marketing this game as that.

Yes, you are right, I am not worthy enough to listen and relay important information such as this. I have to be on the IGN.com payroll to produce accurate info.

You should ask your IGN buds to call Capcom direct on Monday to see if you're right...and I'm wrong. I think this should clear it up, don't you think? I can give them the phone number if they can't find it too.

Hey, I know Anthony, and that's not a nice way to characterize him.

You'd be suprised what secrets people will tell their friends, that they won't tell business contacts.

Atland, IGN has zero respect with anyone that I associate with. TRIEUMINATOR on the other hand, has respect from plenty of people on this site. I give his news more credence than anything IGN spews out.

Thanks for the new tri, I'm sure its good info. There is a lot of game news that is traded between friends and strangers that woud never be given to the press. When capcom is ready they will feed the press the news. And when IGN goes the way of daily radar game informer gamefan and next gen then the question of reliablity of info will be moot.
