Donkeyman,

I agree that AES used to be a rich boy toy.
I agree that MVS is fucking better, since you can't compare the quality of an arcade monitor with a tv. (yes, even a 35 inch vega)
I agree that controls on the cabinet are fucking solid and awesome, while AES joysticks are fucking fragile and can't even compare.

Nevertheless, dude, I can't deny that the rarity and the cool boxes are what make AES so wanted. I got 125 MVS and only 10 AES, which only 4 are complete.

But the question for all of you freaks, fans, gamers, collectors, or cocksuckers is:

If you could choose, what would you pick?

A) An original new six slot Neo Geo cabinet with a 27 inch monitor with memory card interfaces and all 135+ MVS with marquees and instuctions.

B) A gold neo geo system with no fucking mods nor crap, just the original new gold system complete with controlers, and all the AES (original, not fucking converted shit)in mint condition.

I'd choose A). It's the original true origin of the Neo Geo. B)is just a home non professional version that has been modded for years to simulate the greatness of MVS for home hommy former-nintendo people.

Well, any opinions against this?

Not exactly a fair comparison but I could take a mint Japenese home system and hook it up to an RGB monitor and still be a happy camper. Besides, I live on the third floor of an apartment building. What the fuck am I going to do with a 6-slot cab?

Given the option of the two I'd take the cabinet. Why? Because having a Jamma compatible cabinet is quite useful when I swap in other things like my ST-V board.

If I wasn't so jamma obssessed (like if you asked me this question two years ago) I would have gone with the AES hands down.

In fact, I bought my AES well before I got my MVS

I'm gonna agree with Pichai on this. Most of us just don't have the room for a full size MVS. Yes it is more cost effective, but isn't it also hard to play a Garou tournament when your hanging out with your friends if you have a MVS cab? The AES is just easier to take to a friends house or to have a tournament with your friends.

RGB monitors are widely available commercially and not restricted to the arcade/MVS world. Moreover, the home system was blessed with RBG output from inception.

I have to admit I have the best of both worlds, a MVS 6 slot cabinet and a couple of homecart system. You ask me to chose options A or B, I can truly say B--homecart system. My Neo cab just sits in the living room w/ hardly any play, whereas my super Neo Geo gets all the playtime. That is the truth, and if you do not believe me, then go homecarts for a while. Moreover, I guess you are wrong in saying Neo Geo use to be a rich boys' toy because it is still. For example, you do not have one. You real need to understand it real does not matter MVS or homecarts, because everybody is different. Thumbs up BIG GUY, for your 2 cents.
