NAM-1975

Uhh... I was just wondering. Has anybody defeated this game before? I made it the farthest I have ever gotten on it before last night (only had it 3 months, came across it in a garage sale! no manual or box included). I made it to an old man in a wheelchair. He is very difficult! Anyway... I was just curious as to how many people out there have ever actually finished this title... either for the home system or in the arcade. I guess it would be easier in the arcade since you could just continue as many times as you wanted to. I on the other hand was faced with limited continues.

The only way to make arcade easier is level I think. You can only win the game by destroying the endboss with one credit. If you lose, the war is lost. So I thing almost no one really played through the game. (i came till the end boss). By the way, buy a memorycard, it makes it much easier

Yes, even in the arcade, once one gets to the final boss, continuing becomes impossible. I went through the whole game in a quarter, right up to the end where after many minutes of shooting & grenading the boss, I finally got blown away. Even so, the game has two endings, for anyone skillful enough to view them both. On the home system however it's crazy. Difficulty must be the equivalent of level-8.

once you know what to do
and where to stand
and when to move,
then it aint impossible

still fuckin difficult,tho

the best thing is to become REALLY good
at it....meaning like...
as in, reach the final boss with more than
2 lives and more than 10 grenades

you must be bloody good to achieve it,
but it can be done

just reach it with the first credit,
never lose a life and you should have
4 or 5 by then

and that certainly is a big help

on the other hand,
if when you're facing the two ladies,
you have LESS than 2 lives or less
than 10 grenades,
then kill one of them two,
then let the other one kill you

and continue

2 lives and 10 grenades is still better
than...like...last life and 3 grenades or
summat....

I think Nam-75 is one of the hardest games so far in gaming history. For the past seven years I've never defeated the last boss. I wish there is a game shark for Neo Geo console...:P

Nam is one game I really need to try; strangely enough I have never played it, to my best recollection, or if I have it was long ago. I am glad to see that some people still like it, I might have to give it another chance.

Nam is an excellent game. Here are a few techniques I use that you may find helpful:

1-Rapid Fire- Instead of holding the fire button down, tap it as quickly as possible. Using this method can make your normal gun almost as powerful as the Vulcan. Only hold the button down when you want to move your cross-hairs without moving your character. P.S.- Don't tap the button when you have the Vulcan or the Flamethrower, it uses up ammo faster.

2-Rolling- This is absolutely, hands down, without a doubt, the most importand skill to master! Learn when & where to roll, and the game is yours. Remeber that you can come out of a roll and instantly go into another one. This is crucial in the later levels when the screen is covered with enemy fire.

3-Know your weapons- Standard gun- I think it's an M60, better learn to use it, or you're gone. Standard grenade- Despite what you might think, the standard gun works better agains large mechanical bosses. Grenades work best for taking out helicopters in one shot, or clearing a cluster of troops. Flamethrower- Very effective as an anti personell weapon, and gratifying to use, however, it cannot reach high-flying enemies. Vulcan- M16 with grenade launcher. Excellent all around weapon with a generous ammo supply. Missile launcher- Only one of these in the game that I know of. Powerful, but limited ammo. Super grenade- The most powerful weapon in the game. Better to have one of these as an ace-in-the-hole than to have any other weapon. When combined with Double sights; look the F@*& out! Double sights- Doubles firepower. Very important to try & keep these. Works exceptionally well with Flamethrowers and Super grenades. Extra Life- Obviously, very important. I can only think of one though. It's in that VTAL aircraft on the last level.

4-Use those Women!- Having a Foxy Mama helps a lot. They can't be killed, so just worry about keeping your guy alive. The best piece of advice I can offer you is this: When you roll, continue to tap the fire button. The women will keep shooting while you roll! It is VERY usefull!

Not to toot my own horn, but I will, because this site is the only place where this means a damn, but; using these techniques, I can beat the game without dying. That's right, I'm a loser that has no life outside of his Neo. Good luck & let me know how you make out!

I am serious thinking about buying Nam-1975 again. It is one of the best and cheapest games to get. A game every owner of a ng-system have to own

Hey everybody thanks for the info and helpful tips... I haven't been on in a while, I went out of town temporarily and just got back today. Anyway. I am going to give Nam-1975 yet another run. I hope some of those roll and roll again tips work out for me. It took me the longest to figure out that the hot blonde chicks couldn't die themselves. I spent a lot of time trying to get them out of harms way! Oh well...

hey. Slug, I would really appreciate any tips you have on effectively beating this game. I am having a bitch of a time trying to and I'm too stubborn to give up. So please help me out.
