I just saw this a few mins. ago. Capcom hasn't comfired it yet though. I hope Capcom takes advantage of the Xbox harddrive. They could finally have enough ram for high res sprites and SF3 animation while having forty or more characters. Also enough ram to stop scaling down the character sprites like they did in mostly all of the DC games (CvsS2 included )

I hope that they listen to the fans and include some characters that deserve to be in the game.

I had a feeling it was a true sequel and wasn't a typo, sure is coming out fast. I can't wait to see the roster, perhaps it'll include K'. I can't wait to play it on my Xbox!

In the words of the Hurricane.... WATSUPWITDAT!?!

ORA ORA! And I thought Capcom said they wouldn't be making any new 2D fighters for a while....

<< Straight from mmcafe.com

In a recent interview conducted by Softbank publishing for Capcom vs SNK2's release, Capcom's general producer of development Noritaka Funamizu revealed that Capcom vs SNK 2 will mark a period to Capcom's
2D fighting games. The following is a translated quote from the interview.

"As I may have said before, this [title] will mark away one period to [our] 2D fighting games. Being such a title, the staffs have put in a lot of effort to it. definitely want everyone to check it out. If you see it, you can experience all the details and fun which [we've] packed in it. Plus the multi-platform connection is a new challenge, so I would like [people] to try it out too. On the DC (laughs)."

The interview can be read in Softbank publishing's Bi-weekly Dreamcast Magazine, 9/28 (2001/vol.9).

It doesn't seem like Capcom will stop making 2D fighters- but we may not see one for a while, at least. My personal guess is a year to two years, but we'll have to wait and see. Notice that the on the side of CvS2's cover/jewel case, the words "2D will Never Die" is written in large Japanese text. Oh, and if you're wondering why he said "on the DC", it's because the interview is for a DC magazine.

Wow just think of the endless possibillities on the XBOX. Maybe we could dl characters off the net and stick em in CVSSNK3. Or they can create a point system where you can purchase official characters by collecting groove points. Much better than recieving some special boss that isn't so special. But then again cheaters may ruin that also just like PSO.

I don't know. That would be cool, but if it's coming out this quick, I don't think they're going to revamp the engine and recreate the assets. It just seems like not enough time. I hope you're right though.

My god, I have never been so blindly wrong ever. I guess this is really true then.

But how does Capcom not want to release an arcade rev to compliment this release? I have a feeling that is just gonna be a rehash like pro.

Well I will buy it if they have K' in it.

We aren't going to see Capcom vs. SNK 3 anytime soon. I know this after readng the comments at the mmcafe. Are some of you ever satisfied? Damn, CvS2 has been out only one week, and that's only in Japan.

like i've said before.i won't believe this until i heard it from capcom's mouth themselves.i'm psyched about buying the US NGC and if all rumours turned out to be true,we are in for a treat.i juz visited gamespot and they said that capcom may make an announcement in the future

It's BS. If you believe it that's your own fault. It may be an "Upgraded" Capcom vs. SNK 2 on Gamecube, kinda like Guilty Gear X Plus will be on PS2.

If you think capcom would accually release a "true" 3rd sequel, when Capcom vs. SNK 2 hasn't even been released in the US yet your crazy.

Also with no exposure, and hello, it would be released in arcade first.

proof of it beeing bs....I went to one of their stores today (a software etc.) and it was "delisted". Why? Cause it was never announced and should never have been listed to begin with. I hope capcom and snk kick their ass for that, and maybe grab some cash for snk, hahaha, yeah right.

I don't believe it.

It would be too early for a CVS3. Would Capcom kill sales of the current installment by announcing a sequel so soon? I think not.

I also believe that it'll be an upgrade of the existing CVS2.

This whole idea is probably just one game company trying to get attention... when I used to read EGM, I remember that there was an ad at the end of the issue every month that listed games that were just announced, and some that even were not... along with release dates and prices.

This is the same ting... a company trying to draw attention to themselves.

Gamespot didn't "legitimize" that Gamestop listing, they saw that listing and ran a story from their assumptions. Total garbage reporting.

I have no doubt that CvS 3 refers to an upgraded version. My guess is that there may be a few extra characters and new options. I'm sure there will be some sort of CvS game released on Xbox and GC which is great news. That makes the chances of seeing some more 2D stuff like KOF 2001 or Sengoku 3 more likely.
