View Full Version : Strikers 1945 Home Cart announcement

Wow!

It's been more than 12 hours since I first noticed the update in the Neo store indicating a pre-order for the upcoming Strikers 1945 Plus Neo home cart and, still, there are no threads discussing this wonderful item. Very unusual, since I remember a multitude of posts when a similar announcement regarding Nightmare in the Dark was made.

In any case, seeing that this release will be produced utilizing custom boards and abandoning the "sac cart" route, does anyone have any idea how this process is being accomplished? Additionally, what concerns, if any, are there regarding the quality of this production and the long-term reliability of the product? Lastly, what is to be made of the "limited availability" label?

I seem to remember a previous episode which was detailed in the Black Book that indicated !Arcade!'s tendency to nullify existing contracts. With that in mind, what guarantee and protection does the buyer have in pre-ordering this new release? Is a guarantee of satisfaction provided along with a short-term warranty?

Sincerely,

Mikhail

Similar questions are in my mind as well.

I feel very uncomfortable paying $399 up front. Granted this is Shawn we are talking about and we would ALL get our money back, as far as I am concerned this item doesn't exist yet...

I am debating long and hard about it...

I have only heard rumors as to how they are producing these carts with no sac cart...does that include no sac on the MVS version??

Need more info...

(can't wait for that Sam Spirits 3 Mikhail)

Good questions kiselgof, but they seem to be moving pretty fast already. "He who hesitates is lost." Check the quantity available. As long as NGF, Sac carts, or converted MVS carts are not involved, I'm interested.

I was also wondering why the black book incident was suddenly deleted, since shawn did have problems with arcade! before, and they seemed to have a contract by the looks of things, what's any different about this then when shawn had forsaken NGF for ever, only to deal with them again and get screwed.

I'm not saying arcade! is NGF, i'd just be cautious to spend 400 dollars pre ordering something, that you don't even know your gonna get, as I recall shawn had taken pre orders for the converters as well, and we all know how that turned out.

My advice would be to wait and buy the cart when it is on hand, and ready to ship, it's not like arcade! is going to sell out any time soon, unless he is making an extremely small run of carts, like 100 or less, you won't have anything to worry about waiting and buying one when their in stock, and if he does sell out, oh well, better safe than sorry. He'll no doubt make more, since there will be money to be made, and if he doesn't, it's not like you'll never get to play strikers, get the MVS cart.

And everyone keep in mind, these are NOT going to be official SNK made goods, everyone was so up in arms about NGF releasing the KOF 2k cart, whats so different about arcade! doing it with strikers? It's the exact same type of deal. In the case of NGF, the claims of them getting SNK to make the cart seem to be true so far, in arcades! case tho we all know it is 100% not SNK made at all.

Nothing against arcade!, just wondering why he isn't getting the same shit NGF got.

My fellow OCD member, Mikhail

How the hell have you been?

I have to agree with you and Caris on this one up until the price issue.

No blotched NGF "warranty" stickers, no BS inserts...Thats the good part.

Where are the chips coming from?
Where is the "empty" AES cart coming from?
Where are the EPROMS coming from?

A GREAT price...$399.99!

Is this one of those "sounds too good to be true" deals?

Us MVS gamers don't have to worry about this!

Hiya,

I saw the annoucement and was both happy to see that there is another game coming our way yet a bit disappointed at the same time. At $399 for a Non-SNK home cart, and for a game that is far from being the best shooter available (I base this on the Age-Tec PSX conversion as I've never seen the real deal in the arcades) I find myself on the fence about the game right now. Now if this was Metal Slug 4 or Last Blade 3 then maybe I'd be thinking differently about the price about now. Convince me to take the plunge. Do or do not, no try.

Hi,

$399 is a very cheap price to pay for this game when compared to $1400 NGF.

That's for sure!

Well, I've got my Radiant Silvergun and Battle Sphere up for auction on eBay as we speak... perhaps that will generate the "mad money" necessary for such an acquisition.

Well,
I think it is a great leap for the future of the Neo that these new non Sac, Non hacked, No wire modified carts are coming to light.

I also find it is refreshing that instead of the deceptive official SNK distrubutor, SNK made NGH carts that some other origniazation comes out with.Looks like !arcade! has a better made product and tells the truth about it. The big difference with !arcade! and NGF is the fact that !arcade! does not lie about thier products or mislead people. They are also pleasent to talk to and deal with.

Back to the Strikers 1945 cart.

It is going to be the closes thing to official that we are going to get now. I may still not have menus but the game was not designed as a NGH. Strikers on MVS cost around $100 or so now from cosmicco, used with the marquees if your lucky. hopefully it is not epromed either.

$400 for a NGH cart that I am sure is not going to have a 10,000 cart unit run or even a 100 cart run is a awesome price. I am also sure it will be designed on a board, not modfied to work on another cart and play like another so called source of NGH carts. If anyone has seen a rewired cart, especialy a new cart that requiered 2 sac carts. It is not pretty to say the least.

As far as where does the roms come from I do not know. I imagine from the MVS carts since it is such a limited run. I do know !arcade! has reported they have several machines that can work on boards. I am also sure that they do since they are coming out with all these products. I can not imagine they are sitting somewhere with a super solder station 2000 tracing out a NGH board to test

Will a buy a strikers 1945 cart? Now that is the tough question. I guess it depends if my Debtit card gets charged now or the end of the month usally I need about a month lead time to make sure I adjust my spending habits to afford a homecart. a end of July date is better for me since I was also planing on going to NY decesions- decesions. But looks like there are 19 left now (how many were there to begin with) so I may not even have the chance to make that decesion.

oh Kiselgof,

I did not even notice the blurb on the side since I usally go straight for the forums.

I disagreed also with the black book entry, or the deals gone bad entry that Shawn put out on !arcade!. it was discussed before and seemed to me more like a failure to reach a agreement. I to do not like the wishy-washyness of shawn and his black book. Especially when it came to NGF. But people have been removed before and again it was more like a disagreement then a actually black book entry. I do not think it should have been there to begin with and after there was mud slinging on both sides. the So called Shawn-NGF double top secret agreement and the !arcade! running out an apartment consipiracy. I am just happy thing were finally worked out. All along I have been hoping the some people would step up to support the Neo in the future. But when it happened everyone started to disagree and then another split occured. Ideally I would like to see everyone in the Neo world get along *birds chippering and a rainbow glowing in the Background of Big Bruno*. Maybe I am being silly but now we have !Arcade!, Shawn, Game Go, Videogamedepot all working together (hopefully) to come out with new neo items and products. I could care less about the money they make as long as it is fair and someone is not trying to decieve me into believing they are selling me something they are not. That was the whole problem with NGF and thier business pratice along with thier attitude of "we know everything" or "disagree with us and you will be booted of our boards". It is also why they will ultimatly fail as a undertaking IMO.

Well, i already ordered the Strikers 1945.
The reason why? To support the people who are trying to keep the Neo Geo home system alive. Second reason is for my collection offcourse
And i think we can't complain because they only charge one third of the price of a ngf conversion which isn't professionally done like !Arcade! his version. Can't wait to get my hands one it.

Im all for keeping the neo scene alive,
but my view is 1945 is piracy ,Just like emu is.If the game was cheaper as pirated games always are (maybe around the $100) I could see why people would buy it ,Ie to play the game. At $400 you could buy either a full cab + mvs cart or converter + mvs cart,
For me a pirated game has no collectible value like the rare offiacl games !

I have to admit those pictures look fantastic. If I did not have this title on MVS already, I might be tempted to get it. Right now I would much rather get NitD on home cart though without having to go through NGF. If !Arcade! can make that happen I would be very interested.

The !Arcade! Strikers 1945 Plus home cartridge looks stunning. The insert is very cool, especially having taken the landscape design as KOF2K did. $399 is a fair price given that this cartridge does not require sacrifice of an original Strikers MVS and another new home cart like KOF99. And, for scarface who commented that this is "piracy", you are ruling out the more likely scenario: that !Arcade! has licensed the production of this cartridge from SNK, and that it is officially sanctioned and legal. Knowing how !Arcade! does business, I believe that this is the likely situation.

Will I buy a Strikers 1945 Plus cartridge? Absolutely, once my funding situation improves a bit (bought a 2-slot cab for $425, among many other game-related expenses within the last few months!!). I would MUCH rather have Strikers than NitD on home cart, I have both on MVS so I know what they're both like!!

The converter issue was posted on the inventory bloopers page, not the black book. Since the product had been promoted, and preorders were taken, this was a necessary notification. You may have noticed that there was another note for inventory that would not be arriving, the purchase from Takeshi. Since I had sold coming soon items, it was mandatory to explain the situation of purchased inventory. Takeshi sent a replacement package, and !Arcade! is providing the Neo Store with converters. No more inventory blooper entries as you can see. Do not confuse the two sources above with the black book, as neither has ripped me off before.

Btw, Black Book entries are very simple. You rip me off, you go in the black book. You make good of the deal, you are removed. You see, no wishy-washyness.

As far as doubts for Strikers. The production of the Strikers home carts has already been paid for, payment was sent last week. There is not a certain # of preorders to meet, the Strikers will be released. At a price of $399, there is no room left for complaints, considering what previous home versions have sold for. You should also be aware that the Neo Store will be the only source for the !Arcade! produced home carts.

Should any unforeseen problems arise, and the date be postponed, you may always request a full refund. Not store credit, but the actual refund of your purchase. Keep in mind that if you purchase with credit card, you will have even further protection. If you wish to secure your copy, you must preorder/prepay.

After Strikers will come another release. What game is dependent upon the demand. The highest requested game will be produced. Ideally, one per month is feasible. This will allow for sufficient time of artwork design and production. We plan to keep the release prices as low as possible, the lower the better is how we see it.

To chimpmeister ,
It's just my view, Is there rumours that their offical snk produced games ?
I must be wrong but I thought snk had filed for bankrupcy ,meaning there is no such compnay as snk anymore !

Scarface: I understand your concern, and you're right to bring it up. In my dealings with !Arcade! (I bought a converter from VGD, then had to have my home cart system slots replaced) I got the impression that his company is very honest and forthright. I believe that they would negotiate with SNK prior to releasing such a product as Strikers 1945 Plus home cart. And yes, SNK is still in existence despite their bankruptcy filing; the bankruptcy was designed to help them get back on their feet. While they are still around, there is no guarantee that they'll make it . . .

stupid question, is this the same game as the psx one? I never ever seen the mvs version of striker. I would love to add another aes game to my collection, but I want it to be another good one.If Acrade will be releasing more aes games please metal slug 1? With 1200 register users on this webpage I believe we should figure out what game we would want. Later

Also, Im not trying to dismiss anybody credibility But on the other neo forum in the tech section somebody kinds of dismisses the possibility of this creation. Saying it would be nearly impossiible. Shawn do you charge us now if I pay by credit card or do you charge when you ships. Also if anybody is looking for fatal fury 3 for the computer KayBee toys has been getting them in put out by interplay for $5.99. I already picked mine up.

Well, all Striker games are the same (Striker 1945 1 & 2 on PS/Saturn)....World War II type planes and just shoot/bomb, that's about it.

Arcade's insert and cover art is awesome but I might stay away from this game.....hmm :<

Is this game even legitamite? What is Arcades website?

From the looks of everything right now this looks to be a straight pirate cart. I would like to own it, but i don't want to support the piracy of games.

Well Bruno,
Your one of those few people that seems to see
things clearly all the time.
I'm glad you were right all along.
Although several of us were wrong, we always had the best intentions.
After being proven wrong, were willing to admit it.
!Arcade has proven themselves an excellent company.
I hope both they & Shawn & any other partners
enjoy success with this strikers cart.

Its an excellent game and deserved a wide
release IMO.

it might be a little late, but it came to my mind just now:

if the boards that hold the original MVS-roms (SNK made) are "custom made", i bet that !arcade! has to use (or breach) several SNK copyrights to reproduce them.

why, and i know that a lot of people will not like this question, is the majority of people here thinking that !Arcade! does this with permission of SNK?

and exactly were are the cases and boxes are coming from?

i don't want to insult anybody, i'm just curious...

I won't pre order for striker because I live in france and there is no way to obtain it.
