It's not a fantastic revolutionary event changing occurance, BUT I recieved this email from videogamedepot.com in response to an email I sent them. (Italics are me, Bold is VGD.com)

Also, out of curiosity. I tried to subscribe to GameGO! and the payment was rejected. I've talked to two people who have had the same thing happen to them. I'm aware that the magazine is in trouble and that I may never see issue 2, but I'm willing to risk it if the money will help to keep GameGO! alive. If I pay for a subscription and I never see any of the issues that's fine by me.

Might be unconfirmed addresses. We appreciate the support and thanks!

Sure enough, my Paypal addy is an unconfirmed one and I'm willing to be those who have encountered this also have a similar problem.

If nothing else, it proves that GameGO! is not dead.

For those who may not understand the relationship between videogamedepot.com and GameGO!, for all intents and purposes videogamedepot.com is the parent company of GameGO! magazine.

So EVERYONE!! DIG DEEP and buy a subscription for GameGO! If you have one, get another one as a collectable.

Talk to your school's librarian. If you work for a company, talk to whoever it is that orders magazines for the waiting room, coffee break room or (in my company's case <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">) the bathroom.

TELL THEM, that you want GameGO!. It's like 15 bucks (compared to Sports Illustrated which is rather costly) and the 'employee's' will really like it.

Tell them it's about cooking. Tell them it's about breast cancer awareness. Tell them ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO to get them to subscribe. By the time the subscription runs out, GameGO! will be on it's feet.

It's 20 bucks people. We are members of arguably the most expensive game scene around! 20 bucks to some gamers is one or two games. It's not even a manual to us! Hell, it's barely shipping and handleing.

Stand up and show some respect.

Go get 'em!!! BTW, issue one is awesome. Great Tech Article and the section on Mah-Jong is really helpful.

I'm confirmed on everything on PayPal, address, bank account, and card #, and it still rejected my payment on their end. I ended up getting my money sent back to my account.

Daisuke,

Really? The email I got was addressed from TK...Tom Keller a.k.a. Haohmaru from GameGO!.

I'd guess if he says that's what it is, it must be.

Try again. If it still doesn't work, email Tom and bring it to his attention.

No offense but I know gamegos cool and all, but i'm not gonna just possibly throw away 20 bucks on some guys I dont even know. So when i'm low on dough for a game, does that mean their gonna lend me some cash? If I get behind on my tuition bill are they gonna front me some green to help out a fellow gamer? I don't think so...

Actually they are. They make the magazine because they love it. So far none of them have been paid. It's a labor of love. A lot of them are actually paying out of their pockets to keep it going. They are, in a round about way, doing exactly that.

I think of it as an investment. The money I'd normally spend on renting a game before I buy it can be stretched even farther by reading their reviews first. Anyone who has read one of my posts knows my profound disdain for internet reviewers (with noteable exceptions, few and far between) of people who actually know what they're talking about. Of this small percentage of people who can write intelligently about a games merits an even smaller and markedly rare segement of them have access to games like the 'big boys' (namely, pre-release, review copies and beta copies of games). GameGO! does.

That's just one of the aspects I think they're worth 20 bucks.

If you don't want to spend the money because of the risk, I understand totally and the GameGO! Gestapo will spare you.

I still think it wouldn't kill people to hit up their librarian for a subscription.

If you don't want to do either. I can respect that too.

However I do hope there are people who realize how valuable a tool this is to the game community and what a travesity it would be for it to fade away.

Blaine are you sure your payment was recived by Videogamedepot?

I'm from the Gamego boards and Haoh said nothing of Gamego is taking subsriptions again. But I do know that when I subsribed in May, the payment was recieved by Videogamedepot.

I'm all for Gamego coming back, but its been preety grim at the boards there recently. But Blaine is right about the $20 thing. Its worth it in my eyes, even if it doesnt go, cause Gamego was made from money out of Videogamedepots pockets. They have not made any money off of this, and I heard that they lost $10,000 on this labor of love.

Anyone who has not read the first issue and considers themselves apart from the mainstream video game crowd, and wants to support a small group of guys who love good video games, owe it to go to an EB and pick up any copies that they still have.

Not to rain on GG's parade but giving them money is the last thing I am going to do. I would rather donate it away when the US needs it most.
