HI again! :) Ok, although I don't have my sysem yet, I feel I can put my two cents in about this topic I'm about to start. It's cool that KoF and Metal Slug series are doing well, as well as, the new Sengoku and other games that have come out to keep the system alive.

But it amazes me that no one, or at least I haven't seen anyone, rant and rave about why SamSho 5 isn't out yet. Am I missing something here? I mean come on, yeah I love KoF and Metal Slug, but jeez, and this is MY opinion, they weren't as great as the SamSho series. (again, MY opinion...)

So what, they're not gonna bring out a fifth addition? I mean jeez, they brought back Sengoku for crying out loud! I don't have anything against Sengoku...honest, but you'd think that they would at least be working on a SamSho or something like it. Is Last Blade supposed to be the successor to it or what?

I haven't been on the forums that long, but at the same time, I haven't seen to many people post anything about SamSho 5 either.

I just like to know what's going on is all. As always guys, thanks for your time ok? By the way, if you were like me trying to get into the Neo-Geo scene, would you get KoF '00 first because you haven't played or seen it yet or would you go straight to '01?

At the beginning of the year after SNK was restructured under Playmore it was announced that besides Eolith doing KOF 2k and Megaking doing Metal Slug 4 that SNK NEO GEO Hong Kong would be heading up Mark of the Wolves 2 and Samuarai Shodown 5... along with a new original fighter slated for release in May (which turned out to be Rage of the Dragons) There's also supposed to be some new sports games and non fighting games coming out this year.

SS3 and 4 weren't that great, that's one of the reasons for my waning interests in the series (and all the crappy 3d versions in the arcade/psx didn't help).

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a SSV, but I like KOF/Metalslug so much more.

Thanks guys! I appreciate the quick responses. Ok, I feel a little better. :p I hope to have system before it comes out though. Also, thanks for info. on KoF 2001. I'll get it instead of both. Oh yeah, one more thing, how is Galaxy Fight?

I own galaxy fight, and it's so-so. Maybe slightly above average. You can certainly do a lot better for fighting games on the Neo. The control is a little too floaty for me. You can get SS2 for a lot cheaper and it's the best game on the system. Also, you can get a lot of the older KOFs for around the same price as Galaxy Fight.

That's the craziest thing I have heard this week. SS5 has a lot more reason to get released than another cheap kof rehash. With the exception of 4 and Warrior's Rage 2, that series has only gotten better. KoF, on the other hand, has only gotten worse since 94.

By the way, anyone who trashes the hyper Samurai Spirits games either didn't play them, or just plain fucking sucks and should go to Shoryuken.com and suck some sweaty Bison cock.

I can't compell myself to buy another KoF game at full price - sorry, just not that interested. But a new Samurai Shodown game I would buy on a heartbeat.

So true, I'd say about a whole 5 people on this whole site have the right to form any opinion on the Hyper Samurai games, cause all the rest of you morons trashing them never played em.

FYFI Samurai 64 II on the Hyper is one of SNK's best games in a LONG time. Never played it eh? Well then shut the fuck up on "it's trashy".

The 3D playstation Samurai game has no relation to the Hyper NeoGeo, it was made JUST for the PSX, the only Hyper 64 home port is Wild Ambition, no other Hyper game was ever ported to a home console.

So true about KOF wasabi, in my eyes KOF 98 is the ONLY kof game you ever need to own, if you've played 98, you've played every KOF game made. Every game after 98 has gone down hill, and has been just rehash, 99 and 00 are so alike it's a joke.

KOF should have been killed after 99, because it sucked so much.

People complain that Street Fighter games are all the same, well you know what, KOF games are more similar every year than SF games. At least capcom makes different series' like Zero, and 3 and the VS games. All radically different, with different characters.

Samuari 3 wasn't that great, but if you think Samurai 4 sucks, you've got problems, or you must not be playing it right. If 4 sucks, whats good? Samurai 2? Don't make me laugh, 4 is 10 times deeper with a better play system than Samurai 1 or 2. I can play 4 for hours with good competiton.

2 gets boring after a few games, cause there's no combos.

Street fighter being the same game with slight feature adjustment is what made me see the light. Capcom has not tried to make better games since super turbo. Also having the kof series is like owning 3 different styles of gaming, 94/95, 96/97, 98 is a special edition & kof 99/2000 & 2001. At least kof should get an all new facelift in 2002, if it does not, then i think that snk is slacking. Just watch what they come up with in the next installment to make an overated opinion.
Just look at how many features capcom made in there 2d fighters over the last ten years compared to snk's game features, or infact if you list the features they use in there games here on this board, you will get to about 10 & then find it difficult to continue. Go ahead, whenever your ready.

"Drift King" if the games you list are so different in style, how come they all use the very old six button configuration, incept of mvc2. I wonder if they will use the mvc2 button system again. It would suprise me if they did.

Typical KOF zealot, nothing I say will matter to you, all the KOF games are different, blah blah blah, WAKE UP! Their ALL the fucking same!

The 6 button layout is OLD? MWAHAHAHA, why are 6 buttons a little to hard for you to do combos with? I guess the less buttons the better right? To many round clicky objects makes timmy have headache.

You think Super Turbo is the best SF game? You must not get out, it's dated as shit, and Zero 2 and 3rd Strike are way better. Capcom only gets BETTER with each series.

I loved the Zero series, and the first time I played 3 I was blown away, as with 2nd impact and 3rd strike. I can only imagine what they'll do next.

Whoopty fucking do, KOF 2002 is coming out, let me camp outside the arcade for that one, not.

I own the perfect edition of KOF, it's called 98, I don't need any of the new non-snk rehashes (I own 95, 96, 98 and 99).

KOF is tired and old, and needs to be fucking shot. The KOF series is the road capcom COULD have gone down, if they made every game after Super Turbo with the same SF2 engine.

I'm glad they went with innovation, with the Zero engine, the 3 engine, and then the VS. game engine.

SNK didn't go bankrupt for nothing, new KOFs would come out, and fizzle out fast in the arcade charts in Japan (keep in mind KOF is their only money maker anymore), cause they have no staying power, 2001 was a joke, it left the top 10 after like 1 week.

Alot of people seem to prefer several of the other Neo sagas over the good old Shodown series. Don't know why. How easily they forget that which put the Neo on the map. :D

They say Last Blade 3.

They say King of Fighters 2002.

They say Art of Fighting 4.

They say Mark of the Wolves 2.

They say World Heroes 3.

I say nay nay.

I say Samurai Shodown 5.

I say Haohmaru would make any other character in any other fighting game his personal bitch for life.

VICTOLY!!!

KOF hasn't been shit since '98. That series will always blow big fat nuts until they GET RID OF THE FUCKING STRIKERS. That was Capcom's dumbass idea from the first MvC, and they just raaaaaaaan with it. Til then, KOF 94-96-98 owns. Samurai 5 could be good, but I'd love to see a Last Blade/SamSho crossover.

SamSho 5 (Like Garou 2, LB 3, etc.) is a double edged sword.

On the one hand, it is without a doubt one of the coolest fighting series of all time, and my personal and most beloved favorite. There is SO much they can do with this series... if they could do it right.

On the OTHER hand, do we really want Eolith or some other watered-down SNK successor coding this game?

What if they fuck it up? Like REALLY fuck it up and make it look and play like the SamSho characters in CvsSNK2? Or what if it looks and plays like Last Blade 2?

Don't get me wrong, I love the Last Blade series, but it's NOT SamSho. SamSho has a flavor and gameplay style all it's own that MUST remain intact in order for a proper sequel to be made.

They should forget SamSho 3 and 4 (gameplay wise)and make a direct sequel to part 2.

Oh, and they should include all the characters (including Kuroko...)

I'd rather see them make a new weapons fighting franchise than fuck up the immortal Samurai Showdown series.

Are you able to read or what?!?
The question was:
"Would you get KoF 2000 first because you haven't played or seen it yet or would you go straight to KoF 2001?"
