NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO~!!!

Am I the only one who doesn't want to see old characters in KOF 2002?

What's the point?! If they bring back 3-on-3 fighting, then you're basically playing '98 with different backgrounds and slightly better graphics!

Where the hell are K' and Maxima going to be? Without strikers, those guys (along with Seth, Shingo, Lin, Vanessa, Hinako, Whip, Heidern, Takuma, Mei-Li, Jhun, Xiang-fei, and Kasumi) HAVE NO OFFICIALLY DESIGNATED TEAM!

If it's a dream match, then there's no official tournament to outline the usage of strikers (according to the '99-'01 storyline), you're just back in 1998; only with a slightly different Kyo and Iori with a new super...

IMO, it's a waste; Playmore/Sun Amusement isn't going forward with a series; they're going backward!

Just like Evoga/Noise Factory and Rage of the Dragons!

Who's gonna like a game that looks just like KOF 1998, plays just like 1998, and ends just like 1998?

I tell you: it's a big mistake...

And that "Fan Service" crap (bringing back old characters to revitalize the series) can go straight to hell for all I care.

It's exciting to see some of the old characters back, especially those that shouldn't have left in the first place. But I see your point, 2K2 needs 3-4 new NEST/newcomer teams in order to avoid becoming KOF '98: The Second Mission.

And between the 7 returning chars we know about, the requisite teams that have to be there, and the maximum number of chars in the game, the room for the new people is diminishing.

sounds good to me. Hopefully they'll bring back the original stages from kof 94 and 95 ;)

Screw those new characters from 99~2001 if it means another game with Yamazaki and Billy Kane.

Nope, the final boss was Orochi himself. Orochi Chris was the first of the 4 end bosses.

KOF 2K2 is sounding better every day!

Man i am excited about orochi chris. He was my favourite fighter back in kof 97/98.
I hope he and the others get some new moves instead of just remaining like how they played in the past. They really need to give all fighters some new moves to really make it feel like a new game.

Goro daimon was the same in 2001 and the same can be said about heidern.Heidern has some wicked super cancels in 2001 but his moves remain the same.

For bosses, I'd like to see a sub boss team of goenitz, o rugal, and the last boss of kof99. Yah, it sounds vicious, but it wouldn't be too bad if they adjusted the damage ratios. And for the fginal boss, I want to see orochi again, only thios time a little better. He was way easy in kof97. and he shouldn't be. I mean, come on. He was demi God.

i wholeheartedly agree, my man

i was thinking that this morinng, 'ho-hum ive seen this all before bar different outfits'

still no sign of jhun, rick, eiji e.t.c

i mean if you want to play as vice and mature just boot up KOF'98 - the movelists will be the same almost 100% i'm sure.

whereas eiji for example would play a lot diff. cus kof has come a long way in game mechanix since '95.

i'm feeling dissapointed already, but not being quick to judge, it might be an absolute classic.

Doesn't look like it.

So far I know the Lineup if 40 characters come out

Kyo
Benimaru
Goro

Kim
Choi
Chang

Chris
Shermie
Yashiro

Mature
Vice
Iori

Yamazaki
Billy

So we have 14 down 26 to go. or 15 down 25 to go assuming Blue Mary is on Billy and Yamazakis team

Also there is that 7 to 3 male-female ratio

so that means there will be 28 men and 12 women

The women so far in KOF are

Vice
Mature
Shermie
Leona
Athena
King
Mai
Yuri
Blue Mary
Whip
Chizuru
Kasumi
Li Xia***ei
Mei Ling
Angel
Foxy
Kula
Vannessa
Hinako

That's all I think. Only 7 of them wont make it. So let's say bye bye Hinako, Chizuru, Foxy, Kasumi, Mei Ling, Li Xia***ei, and maybe Angel

I was just thinking about the Psycho Soldier Team, if its a 3 man team then that means Bao has a good chance of being gone.

I know there were rumors about Chin, and that he wasn't going to be in the next KoF. But this is a dream match, not the next chapter of the series. And if they are going for old school gameplay, then it makes sense that Bao should be gone.

No more Bao (for one game at least), thats a blessing :D

Someone stated in a different forum that Eolith did a poll for their most hated characters, and the ones that placed at the top were Bao, Hinako and Takuma(??). Regardless, if anyone is cut from the Psycho Soldier roster it should be Bao.

There's also another rumor that they are planning to have a team to represent each KOF. Besides the standards (Japan, Iori, Ikari, Psycho Soldier, AOF, Fatal Fury, Korea, Ladies)... they will have one "unique team" that was available in KOF '96-01.

That would mean in KOF '96, that Geese, Mr. Big & Krauser would be a possibility since Iori is already teamed up with Mature & Vice.

KOF '97: The New Faces Team... Yashiro, Shermie & Chris

KOF '98: This one is tricky... it could be one of three possibilities... The first 2 would be Team USA (Lucky, Heavy D & Brian) or the "Seniors Team" (Saishu, Heidern & Takuma). But since Takuma is one of the "most hated", I don't think that would be the selection they would make. One last choice could also be Blue Mary, Yamazaki & Billy Kane since they were available as a team in '97 & '98... but since the "New Faces Team" makes more obvious sense for '97, they could have been used as the "representing team" of KOF '98. Yamazaki & Billy Kane have been confirmed, so this seems to have the most leverage at this point.

KOF '99: That would mean a K', Whip & Maxima team
KOF '00: Vanessa, Seth and Ramon
KOF '01: Probably a NESTs team

Don't quote me on that... it's just a rumor. But if it IS true, then just about everything would be represented.

That's a nice idea K9999.
I really don't know if I like the idea of it being a dream-match, going for "classic gameplay".
I remember when I read the post that Shito put over what KoF2002 was "going to be" and honestly that got me more pumped that this. It will be cool to have some of the old fighters like Yoshiro, but I was really impressed with where Eolith took the series last year. I would rather see them push it forward. However the pics that I have seen of the order select screen look nice, and show a hint of there not being a striker system.
Still. I want to go forward.

Isn't this taking the "***" censoring a bit too far?

before i'm getting hype.
