actually, its very easy.
just buy (or burn) this new bios onto a new ic (probably easier to buy) and then just pop out the old one, and pop in the new one. the bios is the largest socketed chip, so its easy to spot.
theres only one board that doesnt have a socketed bios, the mv1c or something, the one slot with the vertical carts.

Uh oh... that's exactly the model I have. So I guess I'm SOL?

well its not entirely impossible to change it, just alot harder.
if youre not handy with a sodlering iron, im sure that one of the resident techs could do it for some kind of fee.
i would do it for you, but im not goot at soldering ic's. only wires. ic pins are too teh close for me. altho i did fix one of my neo carts...but still, it would be better to ask some one like jeffk.

Ugh. Well, I guess that's what I get for choosing the newest, most compact 1-slot model. And me having wielded a soldering iron maybe twice in my lifetime.
I don't know if I'd feel right sending my MVS to someone I've never met. I mean, I'm sure the people on here are trustworthy overall, but still...
jeffk? Is he supar 1337 with teh computar machene?

So Sonic, you say once those are out that I'll just be able to pop out a chip in my 2-slot, insert the new one and that's all I'll need to do to be able to use this? That sounds so awesome. I was asking a while back about an MVS mod, and everybody was sounding like I'd need to send it to someone with technical skills to get it done... If that's all I need to do I am so there.
This looks awesome.
I do hope it retains the old boot screen, I love that. Even so, it would be a worthy sacrafice for all of those extras... Being able to pause without having to flip a switch on the board would rule. Practice modes in fighting games would be another plus. Being able to choose a different character regardless of whether you win or not in fighting games would be great... There are others too that I can't think of off the top of my head, but I know there's tons of things you can do with the home versions that irked me about the MVS version.
Pretty soon there will be absolutely no reason to own home carts... Haha.

Booth my 4 slot and my 2 slot board has a socketed BIOS, I am sure I am not alone. All you would need to do is pull the old BIOS out, put it in a safe place in case you ever want to go back, and then drop the new BIOS in. Thats it...

actually, you can allready do that. all you have to do is connect two wires, one to each of the pins for dip switch 8 (just locate teh dipswitch bank, and well, turn it over..) and then wire it to either a toggle switch, a push button switch, or hell, even one of thoes light pull chain switches (i actually did this untill i got a push button on/off switch.)
you can get the button here http://www.happcontrols.com/electrical_supplies/95084200.htm
its alot sleeker looking than a toggle type switch.
My guess is it is going to be free, he says when it is finished it will be available there...

Not likely. Razoola doesn't like doing things for free. Expect a Paypal button to pop up reeeeal soon.

The NeoGeo boot screen is stored in individual game carts, not the BIOS. (This is why it alters slightly from game to game.)
