My first insert

I had been looking all over for a good scan of the Last Blade 2 insert to use in my new MVS case. But all the ones I tried were really low quality. So I decided to find all the original source art and build it myslef. I know this isn't as creative as some of you guys since it is almost an exact replica of the original. I was even able to reproduce the title for the spine using a very simialr font to the original.

I am working on a Samurai Showdown 3 insert now that is much different and doesn't match the original as closely.

Just a suggestion. You have the text on the back set up like this. The Way OF the Blade. I would not make the "F" in "OF" a capital letter. I would either make it like this, The Way Of The Blade, or like this. The Way of the Blade I like the insert overall, but that line on the back just makes it look odd.

Great job. It looks really good. I agree with the caps that Bio mentioned (I think the second option would look better). Also, you morphed the meg count on the spine to get it to fit. I would just redo the megs for the spine so they fit and are still square, and the numbers mathc the cover.

Other than that, great job! There's nothing wrong with recreating the original insert's look. Scans of inserts end up being kinda' suckie, so this is a great alternative. Do you have it in BMP or EPS/PSD format? What's the DPI on your original?

I just finished my Samurai Showdown 3 insert:Samurai Showdown 3

I got the big pic on the cover from the arcade flyer. I hade to go in and remove all the text that cut across his chest and remove the logo from the upper right. Then I just pulled the character pics from their move sheets. On the back I pulled the text from various sources. The arcade flyer as well as a Faq.

I have both of these in PSD format and both are 72 DPI. I print inserts for my MVS cases from home in three seperate pieces. The front and back cover are 6.5x9.5 and the spice is 1.5x9.5 I have a really nice printer and on photo paper they look pretty slick.

Great Job!

Damn, how did I miss this? Lack of sleep on my part again! I just realised who you are. I love your work, man. First online comic I ever got into, and still my favourite. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

I have to do some maintenance..basically in the process of removing those NGF inserts out of my space..who needs those when we have people just as GIFTED with insert creating...
OH,I just LOVE the Last Blade 2 Insert and will be using it in the future!!
I will be also holding a SWEET SALE on IMPERFECT cases..meaning they have EXTERIOR FLAWS but are still good and sturdy to use for Insert projects and building a COOL library like the ones people are already starting now!!
I have some pictures of the flaws I need to edit and put up on a page but the CASES will be $2.99 apiece!!!!! I only have 300 pieces so when they are GONE,they are GONE!!
These cases close tight and are sturdy..there is only cosmetic flaws..

As soon as I got those MVS cases I just had to start making some Inserts. Here is one more. It is a Metal Slug 1 insert and pry the last one I will post today.

Hey, I have a question for you. WHat are you ysing tp create your inserts? The reason I ask is that I cannot figure out how to do the funky stuff with the text. You have shadows and colors, color fading, wavy script...I don't know how to do any of it. Are you using photoshop (I hope).
