i'm gettin real fuckin' tired of your stupidity.
if it's been said before it's been said a million times, CAPCOM no longer has the RIGHTS to produce ANY NEW game with MARVEL characters in it.

The Auction Sniper
08-06-2002, 04:19 AM
WELL DUH, of course there wont be a MvC3 -

THQ NOW HAS THE RIGHTS TO MARVEL CHARACTERS

- meaning that Capcom NO LONGER has the right to make a follow up game, so suck it in, and wait for Cvs3.

(I say this doubtfully, as it takes Capcom 10 years to count to 3).

No, I can't. System 246 is a fucking joke.

However - I don't think any sort of 2D fighter would work well on System 246. Especially not after comparing DC CvS2 to PS2 CvS2.

The writing's on the wall. Hell, they might as well use CPS2 if they want to step backwards from Naomi 2, I know which I'd prefer.

Doesn't matter if it's a joke or not, it's what they're using.

It's been in Arcadia, Challenger AM, the-magicbox and IGN, and Arcadia was an interview with Capcom so...word on the street is, they're using System 246 in the next VS. game.

Sorry, but it was never official announced via publications like Arcadia. It is a rumor from Challenger AM. Wait for the upcomming AM Show.

FACTS
PS2 CVS2 = Port of a Naomi game, hence the small and minor graphical glitches. Game still played perfectly.

PS2 GGX = Looks even better than the DC version. But still a port of Naomi game.

PS2 handles Naomi games with ease, and a PS2 (aka System 246) specific game will look really really good.

THATS WHY MARVEL VS CAPCOM 2 IS COMING OUT ON XBOX AND PS2. ALSO CAPCOM STATED A SIMUTANEOUS RELEASE OF THE GAME IN JAPAN IN BOTH THE ARCADE AND HOME CONSOLE.THIS SHOULD CLEAR THINGS UP.

Here's a good answer:

Capcom made that game when they still had the Marvel license. Therefore they can do whatever they want with that game, being capcom of course, want to get all the money theycan getfrom the release by porting it to xbox and Ps2.

and BTW, i couldn't give a shit what you own, what clubs you are in, it still dosen't give you any common sense. and lay of the caps , dipshit i'm not blind.

hate to disagree with ya buttasuperb, but it does. there's no way in hell activision will let capcom make a game with marvel chracters in it while theyhave the license. the same reason Acclaim made the ECW extreme wrestling games when they lost the WWF rights to THQ.

Chicago Cheeseburgler Crew
08-06-2002, 04:07 PM
ok youre probably right, but is there a law that you cant sell rights to make a game to multiple companies.

if i was marvel, id much rather have both capcom and activision making games than just activison.

im probly talking out my ass here, but dammit i wanna see a MvC3, not some shitty activision fighting game.

To clear the licensing issue up with Marvel, NO ONE owns exclusive rights. Marvel, coming out of bankruptcy hit it big with X-Men and Spiderman movies, has dug itself out of a hole. Realizing the demand of it's characters now, they decided not to put all their eggs in one basket, hence, they are doing multiples licenses.

So it is true that MvC2 will be coming out for PS2 and X-Box (no official word on date yet), but it is NOT true that MvC3 is coming out at the end of this year for PS2. Don't be fooled and don't fool others.

Don't know where you get your "inside" news from because it's completely wrong.

BINGO. If CAPCOM would've spent a little more time on CAPCOM vs. SNK 2 for the PS2 it would've looked far better than the Dreamcast and you know it. I'm right behind you JHendrix and I agree with you 100% of what you've posted.

System246 is actually a worse performance system than Naomi 2, and fact is most arcade operators would rather have a Naomi 2 GD-ROM system than a (Naomi 2 plays Naomi back catalogue) System246 system.

Fact is Tekken4 and RR4 where pretty weak earners, compared to say Crazy Taxi.

A "DC vs. Capcom" doesn't sound bad about now. I think Capcom should consider that, considering the Marvel license is out of their hands and will likely be for awhile.

ADK as a publisher on Metal Slug 3? I smell bullshit. Isn't ADK dead? After World Heroes Perfect and Ninja Masters, there's nothing else from them.

Lol, Magicbox. That is no trustworthy source. Look what Madman wrote:

A short note on reports from other site(s) mentioning that Capcom will be making a Capcom all-star VS game on the System 246-- While it seems to have been reported that there was an official announcement published in magazines, there have been no such statements, including Enterbrain Co.'s Arcadia Magazine. The rumor/news roots from the arcade chain web site Challenger-AM, which expects the game to be released on the end of the year.

Although a new VS title has been rumored for about a month now, it's best to take it as rumor for the time being and wait until the AM show in September.

I too belong to highway games. No such game is comming out.

I'm sure Capcom has something up it's sleeve though.

And don't forget king of Tech TV..........

*shrug*

You counter my rumor source with another rumor source of your own. Neither is Capcom.

Like I said, I have no reason to disbelieve Magicbox, I also have no reason to believe them. The same can be said for MadMan, both are rumor mills.

I only said what the word on the street was, emphaising it was a rumor, nothing more.

No, if it a rumor MM does say that it is one. Btw, MM understand japanese and maybe he read the latest Arcadia?
MMCafe is one of the trustworthy news sites on the web and many sites just copy the news on their site.

Do you remember the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 April fool day joke with the fake screenshot? IIRC even IGN and Gamesport anounced it in their news, lol.

Have you forgotten Magicbox's KOF2k2 character list?

MvC2 is one of Capcom's biggest and most successful games...ever. To this day, it's still running strong in the arcades (2 years later) and it shows no slow down whatsoever. With 56 selectable characters, the variety and options in this game is almost limitless. Adding to these facts, if MvC3 was to come out, MORE publishers (EGM, Gamepro, etc) and on-line sites would have information on this, not just a select few, such as Magic Box or Madman. Normally, with news from Japanese based companies (Capcom), the Japanese video game mags will have info on it before we will and history has shown that.

Yes, Capcom does have a new game coming out, which is pretty obvious and expected, but so far, sources say that it's definitely NOT MvC3. Just remember that licensing Marvel characters these days isn't as cheap as it used to be either. Marvel has gone from rags to riches within a few years.

The AMOA show next month will reveal alot of info on Capcom's Arcade line up for 2002-03. I could also asked my Capcom source, but he never seems to be in the office. Oh well, sounds like a job I want.

I don't think I understand your point.

I'm simply saying both are unconfirmed rumors and in my opinion both have a similar track record.

In a nutshell; Neither one is Capcom, neither one has it direct from Capcom...it's a rumor.

Given the choice between Magicbox and Challenger rumors vs. contradicting MMcafe rumors...I tend to believe the former. You want to believe the later, more power to you.

For the most part both, I personally think they both just read the news at gamewatch, famitsu and other japanese websites and then repost them in English.

Well, my 2 cents. MMCafe has always been incredibly reliable. When they have something that is sketchy, they say so and that "it may just be rumor." My experience has been that the same cannot be said about Magic Box. I have read a number of things that just made me roll my eyes there. Things that never did come to fruition, as expected.

MMCafe seems to have the straight story most of the time and when they don't/didn't, they say so. I tend to look upon MMCafe as a good source for early info. Rarely have they been wrong.

Although, having said that, the best source for any info on SNK/Playmore and Capcom has always come from Trieuminator, and that's not kidding around. He knows actual people on the inside and the information is only one step (Trieuminator himself) from an official source (Capcom/SNK).

When Trieu says so, it is.

Capcom plans 74 titles for this fiscal year

Capcom plans to release 74 titles this fiscal year, though slow profit growth is expected due to a drop of the price of software in North America.

Capcom has revealed its consolidated statement for the financial term ending March 2002. According to the reports from Bloomberg Japan, the company's sales were 70.5 billion yen ($550 million), an increase of 12.4 percent from the previous term, though profits are expected to remain at a steady 10 billion yen. The company expects a slow profit growth in the current fiscal year due to a drop in the price of game software in North America, and it expects to ship approximately 500,000 copies of each of its prominent upcoming titles.
The company plans to release 22 titles for the PlayStation 2, nine titles for the GameCube, five titles for the Xbox, eight titles for the Game Boy Advance, two titles for the PlayStation, one title for the Dreamcast and 27 titles for the PC and other platforms.

Capcom expects to ship 16.2 million copies of its software releases this fiscal year. Titles such as Auto Modellista (PS2), Devil May Cry 2 (PS2), and Resident Evil 0 (GC) are included in the software lineup for fiscal year 2003.
