The production of Sengoku 3 as an English home cartridge release is confirmed. Thanks go to those who support the US MS3 release. As a result, the potential for future English home releases is strong.

Shawn, thanks for the effort, but instead of releasing games already planned by SNK, a more constructive move will be getting SNK to release other titles such as Zupapa and Nightmare in the Dark (even MVS titles made last year such as Ganryu, PI2), even though I prefer Jp version, if any of these games come out, I'll buy whatever version it'll be available. Releasing English versions of MS3 and Sengoku 3 will affect sales at NCS, hindering their future support of SNK

Shawn maybe you should try to set up a wholesale deal with NCS & VGD on these English releases you're coordinating, so they don't get screwed with tons of cancellations.... that way they could offer the newly announced English versions to customers that already pre-ordered...

Damn it! I wanted an English release! I guess I'll just sell my Japanese copy I ordered from NCS once I get it, cause I'm not cancelling my order as others would...

i think that it would just be more timely if these 'announcements' were mentioned within the same time frame that NCS announces their pre-books.

it really is unfair to them and now it has happened twice. it's nice that everyone that likes english releases is getting them, but what happens when NCS decides that it's not worth offering the japanese releases....

I'm glad that people looking ofr US releases can get them, but I'd really like to see some more quality games. I've managed to play NitD and PI2 in local arcades here in pgh, and I don't think they warrant a home release at all. They actually disgraced the mvs machines that were running them. I've played MS3, and can understand the rerelease, and Sengoku 3 (via screenshots) looks very polished, but I can't imagine plunking down my own cash to buy NitD or PI2.

I agree with Bugula, I don't know if shawn is trying to undercut NCS, but if NCS hadn't fought for the Japan version, you can bet there would be no US version even possible next to converting.

I understand that unique perspectives of a situation will exist, when you do not know what goes on behind the scenes. The release of English Sengoku 3 for home cartridge has been in the works since early March of 2001. The potential effects of an English version release on sales of a non-existent Japanese version was irrelative at the time. The main concern was to achieve continued home cartridge productions of new titles. To classify the English Sengoku 3 release as non-constructive is inappropriate, illogical even.

As far as retailers are concerned, the English consumer preorder price is set to $285. Upon release, the retail price will be $295. This pricing structure was not created to punish late adopters, it was created to benefit retailers who are willing to support the English releases. The idea is that retailers sell for lower than $295, increasing their advantage for consumer sales.

The wholesale prices will also be relatively low when purchased in quantities of 25 or >, allowing retailers increased profits. SNK will even ship US Sengoku 3 directly to supporting retailers so that they can have an equal footing upon release.

Sorry Vince, I actually disagree with you about the choice of releases. Ganryu is a sub-Genesis quality game, most of my Genesis and SNES games are MUCH better than Ganryu. Nightmare in the Dark is too easy and too short, not enough levels or challenge. A fun game, but not by far a bestseller, and wouldn't move many for home cart.

Metal Slug 3 English is something that I frankly thought would never happen, and here it is. One of the GREATEST action games of all time, in English and looking GREAT next to my other three Slug games (not a real MS1 of course). And of course the gameplay is top quality, the game is a masterpiece. Sengoku 3 I am not as familiar with, but of course I'll buy it on home cart (English) in a heartbeat.

More obscure titles even including Kizuna Encounter (which I'd also buy mind you) wouldn't be good choices either. Its new carts (or relatively new such as MS3) that will sell the best and be economically viable. MOTW2, SS5, MS4 . . . all would sell in a heartbeat. And those are the ones I'd like to see most . . .

I agree 100% with your statements. Some people have been calling for home cart releases of NitD and PI2, but neither are exceptional games. They just wouldn't sell well, period (though of course I'd buy them, that goes without saying ).

I'd like to say thanks to Shawn for managing the releases of these English titles, we're very lucky to have them. I will of course preorder Sengoku 3 English very soon, as I did with MS3 English. And finally, I disagree with complaints about "cutting in on NCS" orders, thats ridiculous crap. English releases have ALWAYS been in HIGH DEMAND, so why should I or anyone else feel "guilty" about the releases?

Anyway I support Shawn 100% with these new releases, I'll preorder each and every one. The prospect of even more releases in the future is . . . actually too good to be true!

Shawn, just wondering.... Are your communications with SNK the only reason the English carts are being produced? Are you having to pay for them upfront? That seems like quite an investment...

I would like to think it’s because of the demand existing in the Western world for English version home cartridge productions.

Are you having to pay for them upfront?
Yes, completed back in August. No preorder requirements exist. The production is secured 100%.

That is quite a bullet to bite...

Shawn, do you think that your communications with SNK is perhaps inclining the continued support for Japanese versions as well....or do you see the demise of future Japanese versions all together?

I guess I didn't word that very well: I wasn't implying that noone wanted them, just wondering how much you were responsible for getting them released....

Hey:

UGH, and so soon after the MS3 announcement...hopefully I will have the money to pick this up.

My hope for the next rerelease by SNK for English cart? Two words: KIZUNA ENCOUNTER.

Hey, this is the news I have been waiting for since the announcement of Slug 3 English. VERY, Very cool! I am very much looking forward to getting this title. I love the first two Sengokus and am excited to play this one.

On another note, as far as future releases go, I seem to recall some pretty BIG names on the list coming down the pike from SNK. MOTW 2 for one! Chimp has also mentioned Samurai 5 and Metal Slug 4. However, the one title that I am bustin' at the seams to hear more about is the MVS version of SNK vs Capcom! I think that should this title become a reality (and every indication is that it is a reality) this is a SHOE in for a home cart release and I know the English buying fans with be there in droves.

Man, who'da' thought in 2001 we would have 2 new, English titles with the possibility of more, all within the year!!! AWESOME!
