Anyone Having Problems With New MS3 Cart

I was going to post this in the Tech Support forum, but I thought more people might see it here.

Is anyone having any problems with their New MS3 home cart? The reason I ask is, whenever I play mine, the game has very faint vertical lines running the length of the screen. The lines are very faint and not always noticable, but they are there.

I know it is not a system problem because none of my other carts do this, including my original Metal Slug 3 cart purchased back in June of 2000.

Has anyone else who purchased the MS3 rerelease noticed anything like this? In my 6 years in this hobby, I've never had a defective cart. I hope this isn't going to be my first one.

Thanks,
Ryan

Illicious, c'mon. You have a level head. I've dealt with you one on one. This is a Japanese cart that shouldn't fall pray to the English conspiracy theory. And besides, I think I know the story that you and DSD have heard and from whom and I don't think it holds water. Not that I think either you or your source are lying. Like I said, I've dealt with you before, one on one and you were a stand up guy. I just think that your source may have gotten bad information, that's all.

Well, I think I know what lines you are talking about...they usually appear in the darkest areas of the screen, (Like in the 2nd level they are most noticable agianst the Forest area of the Background). I used to see these on my original release MS3 when playing through the neo R/F Adapter. When I started using the A/V cable the picture quality was much improved, and very few lines were ever noticable. These lines are normal, and can occur with not just neo games but, other cart systems like genesis, etc. I believe it has to do with interferance of signals and such. If this sounds like what you were describing, don't worry about it.Hope that helps.>>>

I know the lines you are talking about, the wavy vetical lines that appeared in older games like Magician Lord. The lines I'm referring to actually appear in the lightest parts of the game, ie. the blue sky on the beach in the first level of MS3. These lines are stationary, they don't move or wave. The are just a bunch of vertical lines, very faint, that run the length of the screen.

I don't think this is normal, especially because my original MS3 cart does not do this. I think I am going to call NCS on Monday to see about getting a replacement.

Hey there,
Most if not all my games do that. I thought my games where defective, but its not the case. I had my system modded by JMKurts, and even after the S-Video was added I still see the lines. It kind of looks like vertical strips on the screen, right? Actually the first Neo i owned, the lines moved as well. I sent it to SNK and the guy stopped them from moving but they remained on the screen. Also if you notice in games that have any type of transparent layers that are dotty, you might notice green and red coloring in the lines. If you have Sam Sho 2,3 or 4, pop one in and look at Hanzo's and Galford's clothes, you will see the color lines on their arms.

Thats a known issue, ganlford/hanzo are too complex.
Their clothes only show perfectly if you have completly RGB video.
Even Svideo doesnt get it right, on anybody's home Neo.

However, I do not have the problem rstreck
is describing.

rstreck:
Sorry to hear that man, Im surprised if it could be the cart.
However, If its the only game that does that too you, & your older MS3 cart doesn't, then that must be it.

I strongly suggest you contact NCS & get a replacement, before their stock sells out.
Better to error on the safe side.

This is clearly not the case here. I compared both carts side by side. The original release had no lines, while the re-release had the lines.

This is the difference that SNK has made to distinguish between orginal and re-release MS3 (besides gold warning sticker ).

I finally received my MetalSlug 3 from NCS.
I immediately compare with my first release;
To my horror, the cart don have the gold warning sticker. Even worst is that the cart seem to be using 2 types of board (1 green and i brown). It looks like a converted cart or maybe SNK use excess MVS carts to re-release MS3. Any one got the same problem as mine?
The Manual is also different on the last page.(compare to the original)
Other wise all are the same.
I using scart to play both version
I don see any vertical line or fadding lines.
Hopes that help.

Man the source comes from my own personal experience and SNK of Japan (you can call and ask).
Is there a real US KOF 2000? **

I would garrentee you that my method would sell more carts than anyone and its like this:

If theres only a MS3 jap cart then sell it as a MS3 jap cart but with an extra english manual and a second custom insert.

Very unlikely that an original SNK tamperd free cart would give someone doubts or problems.

BTW, DSD has been banned from this forum and thats why you aint seein him post.

I should of rephrazed my question or somethin.

Does a US KOF 2000 exist?
This version was very limited, & was completly bought out by NGF

Another reason to release a US title rather than to keep it only Jap.

My first run Metal Slug 3 Japanese cart did that, until I blew some debris out of the bottom with some canned air, reseated the cart firmly, then it worked fine. Interference causes lines sometimes at a friend's house when I take the home system over there, but repositioning the console eliminated them.

FUCKYOUFAKES@AOL.COM

I bet that email address has a lot to do with it, which is in his profile. Hence, he locked his own account.

Andm since when did mods have the ability to change someone's profile? Get the *FACTS* before you start making accusations!

What NGF pictures?

As far as getting his email, thats easy, if I try (when logged out), I get:

Sorry, either the user or the board administrator is blocking access to this email address.
» Please use your browser's back button to return.

But, if I logged in, I can get his email address from clicking the link from a post. So, it is a moderator priv. Still can not change anything....

Ok so only as a mod you can get his email?
Either logged or logged out you get:

But the reason i believe he changed his email was cus someone changes his profile with a homepage to NGF and a Fag sig.

Wouldnt you change your user info if this happend to you?

So i guess he lost his DSD name cus some fuck was messin wit his shit.

as long as we're on the subject, why do i get a message saying "checking MVS slot" whenever i turn on my MS3. Is this normal for a home cart?

Yes that message is normal. Just a function from the original arcade game that shows up on a home system.
