The link is working fine. But it doesn't say too much.

1) It will continue the Nests plot (so, no dream match).

2) Popular characters back (they didn't specify which ones) with different outfits (this looks good).

3) There will be new characters.

4) Some improvement to the striker system.

They have a BBS and you can send them e-mails.

What about the message boards in the community section? According to Eolith, they will be considering them user input to what the next KOF should be. (Provided of course that can successfully translate your comments into Korean. )

The point being that there are 3 boards / sections:

free
data
operator

Free seems to be the main posting area. Data might be a gaming section, I'm not quite sure what purpose it serves. Operator has me confused; at first I thought it meant arcade operator, but the terms and conditions make no sense. Maybe it's for prospective purchasers?

Here is the printed explanation:

KoF2001 looks like it will turn out good after all. Hey NeoJedi, I'm from NC too. What part are you from? I live in Charlotte.

if they change the character's costumes, won't that mean they're redrawing sprties from scratch?

and would that mean that the KoF character art style will change?
and wont a costume change mean that they might take other 'liberties' with the characters?

and what the hell does it mean by this?
taken from the Eolith page:
Which character will reborn for this series?

maybe it's just a translation error.

The bad english makes the whole site look so....amateurish...

Hopefully that isn't a sign of how the final game will turn out.

Maybe they're talking about an old character making a come back. Remember that Yashiro was rumored to be in.

Over in Durham, I just updated my profile. There are a quite a few Neo nuts in the area but no good arcades. The tournament players (for Capcom games at least) have to drive over to Charlotte for tournament competition.

I haven't seen a KOF tournament notice for Charlotte yet, but I'd make the drive if there was one.

That page was kinda worthless, but at least it tells us that someone out there is working on a new KOF!

I was pretty encouraged by the comments about it not being a dream match. Even though the Nests storyline isn't as interesting as the Orochi storyline was, I'd like to seem them finish it off. I think K' is a cool main character, much better than Kyo, and I'd like them to deal with the whole Nests thing just for continuity's sake.

And just think, if they do a KOF the following year, they can do what they did with '98; that is, a post storyline dream match with characters we haven't seen in a long time, like EIJI, or maybe AOF/FF characters that have never been in a KOF before !

All your base belong to Eolith!

My favorite quote from the site:
"The best ever "The King Of Fighters" series made by Eolith is coming for you all!"

Oh no!!! Run! It's coming to get us!

runners up:
"What the newer version of "The King Of Fighters" for 2001 that has been developed by Eolith will be alike?"
"3rd succeeding outcome of 'Nests' - secret society in the maze!"

I just hope that they only have the license to produce one installment. If 2K1 sucks we can all say goodbye to the series, and may be driven to play CvsS out of desperation.....

Can someone give me a little history on Eolith? I'd never heard of this company before KOF2001 was announced, and I'm curious if we have much of a chance of having another worthy installment KOF or not.

me and a friend are translation an interview with eolith, since we dont see eachother much it might take time, but one thing we got is that the interviewer asked will kof use dot pixels, or polygon pixels, and the eolith guys says "which would rather be used" he answer dot pixels, and the eolith guy says, "then probably itll use dot pixels,::laughs::" i dont believe the other kof used dot pixels, so if they intend to use dot pixels for the game the character sprites would have to be redone....

Well people are saying Kof series is over since "strikers" I think thats debatable, players are just adapting because the gameplay is good enough to keep playing.

They did say the original team that made the Kofs did make 2001 so I dont think people will leave in droves like the Kof95 to Kof96 transition.

Everybody who plays Kof that played CvsS 2 said its the same gameplay as the original...so noone who plays Kof will play CvsS 2 I think.

Gameplay wise I'm not really that concerned since personally I'm more of a graphics person. Hence I'm apprehensive abt Eilioth handling the sprites, although it was mentioned the project was done under supervision from SNK and with the help of Brezzasoft (formed by former SNK employees) but I wonder how much influence they have over the project. If things turn out like Asura Buster....gameover...

gameplay wise I am very turned off by the striker system in 2K all the Seth striker comboes are insane. Hence their talk of making the striker system more 'fun' as an hidden card or more aggressive only make me cringe.

All in all, I still play 2K and hopes that it'll hit DC but most of the time I avoid challenges things just get too cheesy. Why I would look fwd to CvsS becos it features characters like Nak, Vice which I probably will never see in any SNK games again.
